it takes amazing crazy good skills to make that tight turn to land an F-15 jet dead stick, in a fairly tight area and continuing to calmly talk to the camera explaining what exactly is happening and hit the soft grass to do a belly landing .. ...great job Brian !!!
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary - I was kinda scrambling, thinking about how much room I had to work with, and also explain what was going through my mind, while figuring it out quickly. At the end of the day, the approach was way better than expected. KEY POINT - Keep your nose pointed DOWN HILL....it's HARD. Rudders make this possible. If I would have turned flat, she would have 100% stalled on base leg, and she would have been in 3-4 pieces. Seems counter intuitive, but just like a real plane, you gotta sometime FORCE it to keep flying when it wants to relax into a stall. I was also somewhat lucky too, don't forget ;) Thanks for watching and learning with me ;) A good pilots always learning!

I love flying this plane. I did have to add a mix for some down elevator to throttle as it wants to climb at 3/4 to full throttle even with it being a little nose heavy. I mounted the AR637T in front of the battery and ran the wires under the battery tray with 10” servo leads. Only had to remove very little foam from the hatch to get it to close.

As a very experienced Warbird pilot on RCG I admire Brain as my #1 flight review pilot. The reason is that while he is so anal in details its the details ( especially in jets) and the lipo used that make it or break it ! Brain and the Camera crew are honest, ethical and if he says it’s worth buying it is ! I have bought many a plane as a result of Brians reviews and have also steered cleared from his honest critiques. Especially with jets where the lipo size and the lipo weight is critical Brian is spot on. My reviews and name on RCG is LDM, I dont back many pilots but this guy and his camera crew are spot on !

I was having fun then, as I am now. 7 years ago we had two less kids and less career pressures, and less responsibilities in general, so life was "simpler but not better. I think people assume running like a maniac is a bad thing, but this is how I'm geared. The waiting is my least favorite part of life. Salesman, I've always been, we just didn't have anything we were selling then...now we're selling what we were buying, and what we would be buying if we weren't selling...so basically, we worked our asses off, and did what we wanted, and now we are the benefactors of some harvest from those early, less productive days on KZbin. Maybe someday you will have a better understanding of what I'm saying, but if not, remember that ignorance is bliss.

I've had this happen to me 3-4 times, and it is a cool experience! As for the baled eagles in and around our trees. LOL - I think Rich would school me on flying RC planes, but I think we also have very different styles, but at the end of the day, I respect the guy for what he brings, even if we are basically competitors ;)

Man you loved it so much that you did all those dead stick landings!! 😂😂😂 that says a lot about the plane though. Looks like a dream to fly!! I had this plane and then sold it to someone who couldnt get planes shipped to them being deployed overseas... so now its time to get another.... and put in inrunners.... to light up the burners with firey booties!! Its gonna be epic and much more realistic!!

I would love to take the bird and silly Oregon livery off. Thanks for sharing Brian, been considering this or the Mig version

I like the Oregon livery, but I'd probably prefer it grey ;)

Great review and nice flying, as usual. New camera for the camera crew? Do tell, curious what she is using...

Thanks, and yes...Megan has a new Galaxy S21 Ultra. We're going to be filming in 4K 60FPS from now on...so much more memory requirements, so the new computer we invested in last year is absolutely necessary to even play the videos!

Brian, Your an awesome pilot, I love my F-15 your correct it’s an amazing flying plane. That being said my only gripe was not having a flap set-up suggestion in the manual. I had mine set very tame and the landings were hot. I have since reset them to the same as the F-18. Where did your final flap setting wind up being? Also did you use up elevator mix? I’m going to try the up mix for the F-18 also to see what it does. I also used servo extensions and mounted my receiver just behind the nose gear mount and it worked out perfect. Keep making the vids I love them and have purchased my last three planes through your links. The camera crew is awesome also! Keep up the hard work brother!

I setup the plane in this RADIO SETUP part of this video, so you can see what we did. I didn't change the settings for the flaps (...that I recall). ...as for copying the F-18, I wouldn't try to copy that plane - that was a totally different plane, and very different setup. Different wing type and all, and servos might be setup differently. Plus it was a BNF, rather than PNF. The PNF's using the AR631 are setup WAY different. Not that you shouldn't watch the F-18 videos, but not a very good copycat for what you're trying to accomplish. I was going to time stamp this for you, but our internet went out ;(

I will get this one when I graduate from the Carbon Cub 2 :)
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
Okay, but FYI, while I love this plane, and it's not SUPER hard to fly, you might want to think about a few EDF's FIRST. This is an "intermediate" plane, if you ask me. Don't want you to crash it on the maiden and get you too discouraged, but if you want to aim high, do it in a LARGE CLEAR area...nothing like my flying site, and you'll stack your odds in your favor.

Was gonna mention the frame rate but thought it might just be me.. then I heard it's new camera gear. Frame rate is low.. lower than 30... 60fps would be perfect for this kind of filming. Maybe something happened during export or upload? Cheers brian
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
We are working on that. Thanks for the heads up. Megan's camera automatically diverts back to less for some stupid reason...new gear woes ;( We're going to be doing 60FPS when we film from now on, but we have some footage yet to release at the old setting.

Happy New Year’s Day Brian I hope you’re have fun flying RC planes. This jet flies very good love the sound and how you land the landing gear looks strong when you landed. Well I hope you have a great New Years Day 2022. And I hope you fly the night timber x with the led lights at night that would be cool.
