The BEST Chute Blocker?! ► Stand On And Sit Down OCDC Chute Blocker Talk ► Who Makes The Best One?

I wanted to poll the audience on this one and talk about what you guys think is the best Chute Blocker on the market today. After using them for a number of years, and a few different styles, I wanted to see what you guys use and what you suggest.
I've now had the opportunity to use the Qwikchute and also my Exmark OCDC blocker, but I wanted to see what else is out there. I know of the Advanced Chute, the Grass Flap, and a few others. But I wanted to get your guys opinion on what you think are the better chute blockers on the market.

Brian's Lawn Maintenance I've watched a bunch of your videos. I maintain a few large residential properties, 5-6 arcres of lawn each. Just curious if your going to test Kubotas commercial mowers. I know the diesels are 1 thing, but their 700 series gas zts are great. I have z726x. Ran exmark, very comperalbe. Their ocds is kind of cheap looking, but operates from a motorcycle clutch style lever. Mounts right on fwd/reverse lever, very handy.

I have a quikchute on my SVR52. Works great and an absolute "game change". Very quick and smooth to operate. I like it much better than the kind you twist or rotate to release.

Home made a bunch for the Lazers. Used the old rubber wing cutting edges off the western wideout plows with a little angle iron and some cable laying around. Perfect fit and performance, plus I get to say we recycled!

Hey Brian, I've gotta say after research and experimenting I only use trimmer trap chute blockers. You have full control as to how much of the flap is open. Geek to freak used it and I tried it and LOVE it. I actually drilled 3/16" holes in mine 1.5" apart from eachother. I also used a tapered drill bit on the inside of the holes. This minimizes blockage from debris.Works perfect now👍.

My buddy has the power chute on a vride and I love it, super easy and fast. I use a exmark vantage now with the same ocd you have on the zero turn and the chute cable is kind of hard to open and close depending on your position to the stand on

I don't have experience with chute blockers, but I've heard good things about grass flap. I have a Toro recycler. You open and close it with the plastic piece, which it be honest, is pretty good

Thx for the video Brian...I have an advanced chute blocker made by bad boy on my Toro Titan, It's ok but I'm looking at something that goes forwards and back not side to side w the handle. When the handle is out all the way its a stretch to get it back in(open position).

Heads up you do need to drill two holes for the qwikchute for a Z2 61icd also if you have a standard order the extended leaver which is 10 bucks more . It does work great !

Grassflap is the best by far for the stand on mower. It’s a foot activated system so you don’t have to take your hands off the handle bars. I put mine on the black platform of my Ferris z1 in the middle. There pricey at $320 ship to your door but it’s worth every penny! THE BEST PART is that you can partially open the flap to have better control of how much you throw and how far it discharges. The only bad thing is you have to push hard to open it. It take sometime to get use to but it’s and amazing product that you need to check out!!

Yup definitely a game changer. It looks like the quick chute might work with the accelerator bracket on there too. I guess only one way to find out. I'm surprised nobody else mentioned it. You should try it n let us know

Nice video brian, on my toro grandstand I have the OCDC cute blocker, than on my toro 5000 series that is mainly for bagging but for my park I side discharge and I have a OCDC cute blocker also I like the pull or push handle than the petal and then you break a cable so I like manual better.

Thinking I may buy a mulching kit for a second mower? My friend had one on his John Deere and he cut his lawn right after a 4 hour rain and left no clipping trail. I was quite impressed with it. I use John Deere as well. I like the quik chute.

I have the qikchute on both my stand ups...a 36" gravely and a 52" Exmark. I will say the chute works flawless on both so far. Easy to use and seals well. I will say with the exmark the handle is easier to reach then the gravely qikchute version. But I would rate them 9 out of 10...wishing they would make handles just a little closer to the operator. I'm 6'2", if I was shorter or had shorter arms it could be a bit of a challenge to reach handle.

Man I loved using a hand operated chute block as I used them for years with zero turns but running a John Deere 648R with a grassflap I would say grass flap is the way to go with a stander just because it is hands free.

Try a john deere stander. They have mulch on demand. You may like that for the manicured lawns. I use a grass flap bc I have some bigger average that isnt manicured and the MOD isnt the best for that.

I did a lot of research and I picked the quick chute. I know it’s one more handle to reach for when driving a zero turn but there were no modifications to make and cables to break. Hey that rhymed. Also my dealer saw it when I had some warranty work done on my mower and said of all the chute blockers he’s seen that it’s the most durable and simplistic design and will always work and the have installed grass flap and several other brands plus the factory chute blocks on Ferris, exmark and Kubota. A quick slap of the wrist and I’m either blowing grass everywhere or it’s closed. I’ll admit it takes a little finesse to get it in the half open position but it works great in on or off.

I have a spartan 54” mower and they have the option of a manual chute blocker or electric motor plug and play, easy setup and the blocker is heavy duty metal. With a push of a button up and down arrows it will set the blocker at any angle you want. Mulches leaves and grass decent but not perfect. Mostly good for protection and flower beds. If you have a spartan mower I highly recommend spending the $300 on the electric model. Its called the spartan shield. But now im looking to buy a new stand on mower and between the wright 36 or JD 36”.

My old mower was a Grasshopper 226V 61" cut. I used the Advanced Chute System unit. When I replaced that mower with an Exmark Radius 52" cut, I was going to go with the Exmark unit. Honestly, the cost for the Exmark unit and it being ABS, I went with the ACS unit again. That extra weight of having a piece of metal over the discharge is piece of mind should you accidentally run over and throw an object. I'm not convinced the ABS piece would deflect as well. I have to say, I like the mechanism design of the "Quickchute", especially if I was to go with a "stand-up" machine. Looks like it would have an easier access for the operator. Grassflap...no hands needed, can open a little or all the way, the composite material will allow you to bend it back if it gets bent using heating from a hair dryer or heat gun. I've had one for 2 years and only my worker has broken the cable. While I ordered a new one I can't describe in words how bad it was missed. I run John Deere 900 series with 7 iron pro decks. Love the decks wouldn't buy another deck for my area especially with all the dew in the morning and thick crabgrass on some bi weeklies. You should test out a Z970r 60"...beast.

Have a Powerchute on my Scag 61" Cheetah and have not had a problem since I replace the motor with the heavy duty motor that they have now, also installed on on my 48" Stander X it works fine still getting used to the Stander.

I use Advance Chute System on a 48" scag tigercub. I actually bought a Quickchute at the same time but kept the ACS system be abuse it was cheaper. I will say the quickchute quality in material was better and I feel the control handle would have worked better on my mower. The ACS handle pulls in toward the operator and sits under my leg which I don't like. Other than that the ACS is a nice cheaper option.

Have quick chute on bobcat sz4000, seems well made, does leave bunch grass pile when open. Looking at advanced chute from Ballard, it has holes it chute for airflow, so grass gets recirculated, so they say, idea seems way better, cheaper too, wish I would've tried that one Instead

I use a QwikChute on a 48 Stander X... I still can't believe how long it took me to get one. I love mine,,, BUT I have to remove it when I want to remove blades or change belts. Having to remove every time to sharpen blades sucks but I do it and that won't change. I've heard a few people talking about drilling little holes in the blocker to allow some air flow which helps mulch when down,, still debating on doing this...

Grass flap on my gravely pro stance and ferris z3x. The hands free operation is great. Cables due break from time to time. Cable costs 30.00 and worth it for the hands free operation since it gets opened and closed 100s of times a day.

I went with the Advanced Chute System on my Hustler X-One. I wish it was more custom to my mower. They make them to fit a lot of different mowers. So it's basically a universal chute. It doesn't close completely flat with my deck, it's flat on the bottom of the deck, but the top of the chute has about a 1/4" gap. And it doesn't set flush with the bottom of my deck. I will do some customization to make it perfect though.

I know you guys dont dont mulch but, you should really try it get Ferris to install a kit with baffles .You won't be sorry .I can mow wet, tall ,thick grass with no clumping.They are on all of my mowers .That 37hp is a perfect candidate for this application .I've only cut warm season grass with it but , I would like to someone try it on cool season.

Brian - U should do a "best/most effective " rrplacement weedeater trimmer head cuz I run a husqvarna t25 on an echo srm225 with no guard with line in the 21"+ range sometimes and I only experience heat equivalent to a warm cloth when I touch the gear box tightly after running the machine for several hours. It must be somehow has a way of air cooling the gear bix.

Brian's Lawn Maintenance - when you get a chance please check your echo weedeater's gear box hest after several hours of contiual use. The low weedeater line breakage occurrences combined with the air cooling effect of weedeater gearboxes might just make the husqvarna t25 trimmer heads a #1 choice on the market. Low heat signature = longer lasting grease and inner gears. Just a thought, didn't mean to ramble on.

hi guys i mow two cemeteries with an Lexmark with no chute blocker.does anybody do cemeteries and what do they use thanks

We do 4 cemetaries. While we have a blocker on one mower we dont bother using them. It sucks on wet days plastering stones but there isnt much you can do unless your using a mulching kit on the mower otherwise they tend to clump with the blockers engaged all the time.

They will shred but not truly mulch without a mulch kit on a mower.

I have never understood why more zero turn manufacturers do not include or at least offer chute blockers. Dixie Chopper is the only company that I know that has made it standard on all of their mowers. And I have become addicted to it. I'm now looking for a new commercial mower, and I can't find anybody that offers one!
