I’m 38wks. My OB-GYN said if I am even 1cm next week that I will go into the hospital. I asked her why? If it’s early labor-shouldn’t I wait until I’m at least 4cm. She said “thats if you’re 38wks, you will be 39wks.” I feel like she is already trying to intervene my natural birth process and I imagine her rushing it if I go in right away. Hoping my partner supports me because I do not want to be induced. No complication or risks have been identified.

I can understand they want to be as cautious possible. Just seems excessive when the pregnancy has been good. But they may see different results overnight in other cases (tho small number compared to all pregnancies). Like right off the bat the nurse said “your baby isn’t moving a lot-“ which can be a scary statement, vs “let’s encourage her to move maybe she’s asleep”

Ive been in early labor for the last two days and i did all of these no's.😅 Right when we thought we were between 4-5 minutes apart, we headed to the hospital and waited in the waiting room for THREE HOURS and my lavor STALLED. I was exhausted while in the waiting room and beyond stressed. My contractions went from 4-5 minutes to being 20-30 minutes apart. So, we asked to go back to laboring at home because we still hadnt even been checked into triage yet.

I wish I could have done all these things. As I was 41 weeks and 2 days pregnant, I was scheduled for a checkp up at the hospital, the baby was bouncing in my belly, the nurse was nervous, called the doctor and he decided to admit me. Next check ups, baby was so relaxed, but my body didn't want to go into labour. They induced the pregnancy with prostaglandine gel and a sort of catheter. After 5 days, my labour started. On Monday I experienced the early labour, Tuesday, active labour, but asked for epidural at 6 cm dilation and gave birth on Wednesday early morning. Baby was fine-ish, we stayed 5 more days. I could sense something was wrong, he was so sleepy. He had an infection and spent 3 days on antibiotics. My water broke very early in labour and that was probably the cause. I would like to add, I gave birth in Germany, my husband was working and benefited from state insurance. I paid nothing for the 11 days spent in hospital.

Thanks for sharing! I never had a desire to go for a walk while in labor. I do love the birth ball though, and I used it for swaying mostly. That's what felt comfortable in the beginning of my labor. My labor didn't start at night with my most recent baby. He's almost 3 weeks old, and my labor started at 6 PM. The other two it did, but my water had already broken. So getting up in the middle of the night was a must. I only ever timed my contractions twice. I never did with DD1, and only did with DD2 when they started so I could see how far apart they were. After 20ish minutes I stopped timing them. I timed them with my son- loosely. I was driving when my contractions started. They were coming every 5 to 7 minutes. Longest hour drive ever. I was alone too. I always stay home as long as I can! I was at the hospital for over 10 hours before giving birth with my first, and learned my lesson. I was at the hospital for 53 minutes before DD2 was born and 50 minutes before DS was born. My son's birth was the best experience of the three. I would definitely go all natural again if I have another baby. All of these tips are helpful and make sense.

So when is the right time to go to the hospital?
@tinktinkkks42095 ай бұрын
If contraction don’t go away usually 2 or more hrs and they get more intense as time goes by. They have to be 1 minute long contractions, if they are 5/3/2 minutes apart. Call your obgyn or hospital obgyn and tell them what you are feeling they will let you know as well if they want you to come in.
@mamaofthree85855 ай бұрын
Generally your OB or midwife will instruct you on when they expect you to go to the hospital. Mine always tell me follow the 5/1/1 (5 minutes between contractions, lasting one minute each, for one hour) rule or if my water breaks go straight in. However, I don't follow their advice because I don't want to be at the hospital longer than necessary. I went to the hospital right after my water broke with my first, and it was over 10 hours before she was born. I waited until I felt like I couldn't handle it any longer with my second, which was about 2.5 hours after my water broke before heading to the hospital. We were there for 53 minutes when she was born. I did the same with my third, only my water didn't break until after I was at the hospital. I was there for 50 minutes when he was born. My son was born 30 minutes after my water broke. I can feel my cervix opening, and my surges are only in my cervix. Because of this I'm able to wait until right before giving birth to head in. My advice is just waiting until you feel like you HAVE to go to the hospital. As mentioned in the video the best thing to do is stay home as long as possible because you're more relaxed. This will help your labor progress as it's meant to. Best to you!

So, if my body is so made for birth, why couldn’t I after nearly 3 methods of induction? I worked out throughout my pregnancy, worked out and did labor stretches, walking, strength training, push-ups and squats at the hospital too. I only got to 1cm and water broke. They had to reintroduce fluids. Then, maybe the pitocin or miso her rate to flatten at each contraction. I also had an anxiety attack which I think the down from oxytocin added to it. placenta was tired so the best option was a C-section. I wanted it all natural. I don’t get what I did wrong. I want to have a natural birth for another baby, but my husband just thinks we should schedule a C-Section. I just feel like I failed and am weak for that. On the blessed side, my little girl is healthy 4 month old now, 100% breastfed, and almost double her weight already.
@rachelixcaragua93556 ай бұрын
Sometimes we can do everything "right" and things just go differently than we planned. BUT a c-section is NOT failing! My first was born via c-section very early after my induction started and before I really even went into labor. For whatever reason, her heart rate dropped a couple times and she just wasn't tolerating it. The safest option for both of us was a c-section, rather than risking more stress on her during active labor. I wanted to do natural as well, but sometimes things change through no fault of our own. So from one c-section mama to another, kudos to you for being strong through major surgery to safely deliver your little one!

I had done everything and believed in the birth process and had paid $2000 in non refundable payment to an out of hospital birth center and ended up having to have a c section after 5 hours of pushing with no progress. It really really sucks hearing all these women with these easy labor stories “oh I pushed for one hour and there she was!”. I was having contractions that were unproductive. My son was also stuck and in distress. If we hadn't gone right away, there is a good chance neither of us would have made it. However, this is a common thing to happen to women in my family. A similar situation happened with my mom when she had me, and my great grandmother had one child who was stillborn because of this very reason. So, maybe it would have been different if you waited, but maybe it wouldn't have. You have to do what feels right to you.
