Brilliant! Your old FG knot video was my favorite and I didn't think it could be topped, but this new FG knot tutorial is next level. That little singed mono ball is a game changer as I've had my Rizzuto slide beyond the mono tag in the past. This prevents that and at the same time prevents cutting or burning the Rizzuto. Well done!

Beautiful video mate, i do mine almost the same but with a half hitch after the fg to hold it before tying the rizzuto to pull back into it. Genius idea to tie it loose and slide up to the burnt bowl rather than trying to burn it close to the braid thanks for sharing will be doing this in the future for sure. Also when i burn my braid tag down i wet my index and thumb with spit helps protect the braid being all wet and can get it nice and tight.

Very neat version. I like to tighten up the FG wraps by biting the leader tag and pull mainline and mainline tag at an right angle, to slightly away from the leader tag end. This takes out any slag. Then finish off with a Rizzuto and cinch down by pulling on the mainline and leader. To be said, everything on PE 2 and below. Never tried burning the leader tag, never had a knot slipping on me once cinched down, but 220lb leader is another story. On lighter lines, the FG knot chokes down the diameter of leader under the first wraps and forms a natural knob.

I’ve blobbed my braid before but I know that will give me that little bit of extra confidence too. Have seen a few vids that recommend knots be set with a short, sharp, hard tug as opposed to the gentle tightening - have you ever noticed much difference?

Yes, i only use this knot for casting. Its really strong knot from braided line to leader. I never use another knot.

There's a way if you pull the loop of the half hitch (not the overhand side) it pulls the knot flush against the fg and then you pick up the slack of that loop in the tag end. Voila a half hitch flush against the FG

If you tie a double overhand loop in the tag end of the main line, at the final tightening stage, you can tighten the ruzuto much tighter by pulling on the loop, rather than just a straight length of line.

I always thought I was overdoing it with 12 wraps, as most videos recommend 9. Glad to see I’m not the only angler upping the wrap count. I’ll usually do 12 on PE 1 and up, and 15 wraps below PE 1. I fish PE 0.6 95% of the time. I find if I do more wraps, I struggle to get all the wraps to change colour. Might be because I have too much tension on there before I start to tension. Will experiment. Thanks for this! I always appreciate your technical/gear related content. You work gear hard, and never seem to have any gear issues, so always interested to know how you do stuff. Loop knot video next, maybe? Do you still run a swivel\split ring combo ahead of lures like you used to? Thanks!

Hi Mate, I tie a 4 wrap uni to swivel but do a loop knot on plastics or small lures. I actually learned my loop knot off @PelagicPursuit89 you should hit him up to make a film of it 🤙

With thinner mono lines, you do need to let the PE to dig into the mono. That said, you need to pull and tighten it down before making a mushroom of the end of the mono tag.
