While I see what you mean I’m not entirely sure. Since he had substance use disorder with ketamine (which is a dissociative) .. was his fidgeting a result of that drug, or was it just his anxiety and AD/HD? With a dissociative class drug you’re G-O-N-E so he’d likely do it in private, although some drugs DO have a lasting impact even when the user isn’t high, they’ve come down, yet in their day to day it’s been a long standing use disorder (speed, pain killers, and alcohol are all good examples). In other words, there are plenty of drugs where -even if you aren’t high at the moment- it affects your behavior in between using. While I can’t say I’m well versed in what someone regularly using ketamine is like when they’re down from it? Because it’s a dissociative it likely wouldn’t result in fidgeting and scratching. Also, I’m not super well educated in my SEVERE chronic/generalized anxiety yet (haven’t gotten in to therapy yet, we’re still figuring out a medication stack, and for 10+ years I thought I was, ‘stressed,’ until my new partner -we’d always been very, very good friends for 16+ years- clued me in. She’s been doing therapy, routine + medication for a long time) though I do know some functions of what behaviors manifest from a few types of anxiety. Although, on the other hand, I am well versed in my AD/HD as I was diagnosed young. Just from those two mental health struggles I’m always squirming, fidgeting, scratching at my self (it’s apparently some sort of nervous, self soothing thing despite how psychotic it sounds). It could totally be that he was doing that in the past due to that drug, but I’m skeptical due to the class of drug, and it is at least plausible it’s simply situational or social anxiety and AD/HD.

I don't think I would have a problem with most directions they take. The thing about being critical of art is it's just too tiring. Music isn't a contest of who can play instruments the best or whatever. I think as long as you're making something unique that you love and enjoy, other people are gonna resonate with that. FYI, being a producer and making music with computers can take just as much practice and knowledge to master as playing an instrument, and I play 3 instruments, and I'm mediocre as hell with a DAW. If you don't believe making a hip hop beat, or a rave song is difficult, you do it. You might be able to figure out a little bit, but mastery takes time.

You know,the problem is,that,maybe it's only for me,but I think,that now this band just lost that power,that it had in 2010's - at that time (after release of There is A Hell) even the word Bring Me The Horizon felt different - when you bought ticket at that time you at least known,that you're gonna have a very unique time - setlist with both melodic songs, and amazing bangers. It just felt like complete insanity,and that was fucking amazing. Now it just become more.... regular? Seriously, I can't remember something similar to old BMTH - metalcore,that was actually heavy(maybe except Architects,but it was more on technical side,rather than groovy one). Their older material brought me emotions, that none other group did, they were unique - and now, they're changed theirs style. And, how simple that wasn't, but it's just sad,when the unique band changes their direction. Personally for me, the problem is that all that good stuff,that was back in heavy days simply left behind - I would've been more than happy,if half of the setlist were modern songs,and the other half was old ones.

I love the new record just not as much as the old stuff but damn it’s all good

Bands can experiment all they want, it’s what helps them grow. But it’s when you abandon your core sound and don’t keep anything familiar is what pisses people off. If you keep the metal-core aspect but sprinkle in some pop songs every now and then people won’t mind too much and you will even get more “rounded” fans so to speak. It helps to bridge 2 worlds because a pop fan will listen to a pop track off the album and then listen to a metal track and be intrigued by the diverse sound on the album. This imo is a better alternative than doing an album every three years that is so blatantly one style.

I brought my buddies who never listen to metalcore to BMTH in 2016, and they rly enjoyed it thanks to them branching out with That's The Spirit

Recently I bought a perfume called "aqua di gio", and it reminds me to the song medicine. In conclusion their new music style is fantastic.

Its all good that a band wants to evolve and try out new sounds. I wish more metal bands would do that. That beeing said, AMO isent all that of a good record. Its okay, but nowhere near the quality of thats the spirit or sempiternal.

The intro to doomed sounds like samples of requiem for for a dream to me. And, being a recovering addict, that's what that songs is about to me.

If you are children (bmth being 15 to 18 when they wrote their early stuff) you will write music for children. Believe it or not though, people grow up and people change, and decide along the way to write music for themselves, and their own creative aspirations. One day you kids will see this, and you will get it. I was a teeny bmth fan. I still am, but I get what they are talking about 100% now I'm 26

@wasab14234 жыл бұрын
As someone who absolutely enjoys BMTH when they were heavy, I absolutely agree with them changing and moving forward with music because music is music, it’s an art and it must change as all things must do. No matter what music they do I’ll still jam the fuck out to anything they release

disagreed with Fish @ 2:52 the reason people (like me) are so against their new stuff is because we HAVE heard it all before, it doesn't make us uncomfortable because it's new it makes me uncomfortable because it's everything else being played on the radio. *just my two cents*

There are people like that. But the overwhelming majority are teenagers who think listening to heavy metal makes them edgy or adults who can't let go of the past.
