bringing dead solid-state drive back to life was fun. We got this unit sent to us from the Dominican Republic after it visited another data recovery company. We were not told the reason why data was not recovered on the first attempt. After inspecting the unit, we were able to find one failed pmic. However, swapping just that component over from the donor to the patient solid-state drive did not bring it back to life. Data was still not accessible. It was getting late, and after sinking over an hour of troubleshooting, we opted for a more invasive but trusted route of swapping out NANDs to the donor. See the video for end results :)
if you want to ship your failed device to us for data recovery and free evaluation, simply fill out this form: www.hddrecovery...

many many times I've had users at work and one in particular tell me why is data recovery so expensive?, my reply is always the same, Its a specialised job, requiring specialised tools, its time consuming and the experts are highly trained with lots of experience. So if you did drop/spill or don't look after the device; not made a backup ,your only hope is recovery then you need to sit down and take stock. I have hundreds of users to look after and I really don't have time explaining the same thing to that person every time they do it (and yes they have done it three times so far and have NOT changed their behaviour). The company has spent at least 50k on data recovery in that last 3 years (and no it's IT, we have systems in place and its always the same Karens who appear with a poor excuse of why their such and such data is not there anymore) Great Video ~Trooper

I known how it is - diagnosing failed components, replacing these with new ones with device behavior change, and then finding out, that something else is dead.. And that last one takes lot of time and, sometimes, even can't imagine, that that component may fail.. Few days ago I bring back to life dead hard drive, which even wasn't visible from BIOS and didn't spin up.. Very quickly figured out that +5V rail is coming in and then missing.. Need to take time for reverse engineering hard drives PCB power part, but it pays off and drive is live again.. :) I can't imagine that in newest drives they put in tiny (less than 0805, probably 0402) unmarked 0 ohm resistors in lines with current consumption 300-500mA.. Seriously! :D This takes day to me to figure it out and verify because i can't believe in it..

It's not anything wrong with using 0 ohm resistors as fuses. I learned to check these components as first.
@artursmihelsons415
@artursmihelsons415 4 жыл бұрын
@@ekon01cz Yes, it's nothing wrong if that component have any marking on it, but problem was in size and ways to identify that part as bad 0 ohm resistor, considering, current consumption in that line - resistor was way to small.. Expected, at least 0805.. And multilayer board makes tracking more difficult.. ;)

@hddrecoveryservices

it would be impossible to have 100% recovery success rate. In some cases even getting 5% could satisfy the client to the moon and back. We are over 90% for sure, but more and more hard drives arrive opened and butchered there days. That impacts the outcome heavily. If all hard drives that we were getting arrived sealed, we would be getting close to 95% success.

@@hddrecoveryservices I think you should have a look at the wikipedia page you reference. The picture in the upper right corner of the page clearly shows a "flat blade" screwdriver which is the correct terminology. The term "flat head" is properly applied ONLY to a style of screw head which is flush or flat to the surface in which it is installed. No particular driver is used for flat head screws since several drive styles are available, ie slotted, Phillips, socket head, etc. The term "flat head" is often misapplied to screw drivers by unknowledgeable people like yourself.

@@hddrecoveryservices You know perfectly well that nobody is going to acquire the equipment and skills to recover one SSD. It's much cheaper and less risky to pay you and that is what you're counting on. I would have named the video : "Professional SSD Data Recovery". The current title sounds like anybody can do it on their kitchen table.
