Happy Birthday Marlene! What a treat, and I'm so happy you are helping Josee who seems to have settled quite nicely. Seeing George in the background and learning that Josee has that extra special connection to guys, I knew George would be a happy camper,Lol. Too funny when you took him to your podcast and Josee decided your cohost was the best tree in the house, I could hear and see a bit of fear in his voice, especially when you said you just got him, therefore you don't know him that well,Lol. What a beauty! I adopted a 36 yr old DYH from a rescue last Nov after his owner also was too old to care tor him. From scared of hands, poor diet, never having freedom or toys to the loving, smart, inquisitive little green potato he is today it was the best decision of my life. And he smells yummy too.❤ 🦜

My heart hurts for Jose's previous momma. I am 70 and my PepperAnnie is 20 years old, and I can imagine how hard it was for her to have to rehome him. There is nobody better who could give him his best life and family. He is adorable and will fit right in with all of you.

Us aging and older parrot owners have a real problem. I never thought 26 years with my TAG will pass so fast, ...and my parrot will still be a youngster while I get seriously older and more and more concerned about what happens when I am gone.

He's strong now, and I don't know how he could be re-homed with his anxiety aggression, I sadly hope that I will outlive him

Wonderful, thanks for helping him. I love how Josie is tricked to check out the Cockatoos crest @18:16 and then realizes he should not be messing around with another birds crest and stops. Loved this vlog so much. I rescued a 7yr old amazon 5yrs ago. Gigi's then human was killed in a car accident. She was so traumatized I wondered at the time if she would ever bond with us. Today she is such a loving gentle bird. Now I worry if anything should happen to me, I'm 71 in very good health, where would my Gigi end up. Its too late to worry now We love her so very much. But maybe I should research now just in case and put a plan in place. Everyone who has these beautiful birds needs to think of the long term consequences. ❤❤

@sezwo5774 I'm in the UK. so if your in the USA your laws will be different. We actually found a lady who is also a parrot owner. We chose her as she is at least 20 years younger than us, so our parrot would spend the rest of her life with her new owner. We have stipulations in the Will, like no other animals to be in the house, etc. Left a booklet on our parrots behaviour, food likes, what she is scared of etc. The money will be held by a solicitor in a Trust Fund in which all expenses, like new cage, food, vet bills, will be paid for. We have stipulated that should for whatever reason that her new owner couldn't look after anymore she is to be put to sleep. Our reasoning is that here in the UK there are no good rescue homes. The poor birds get thrown into outdoor aviaries, my bird wouldn't survive that situation and would suffer greatly. Hope this is of some help.

Thanks for the positive take on sanctuaries. My wife and I have had a haven for birds for several years now. We are not a 501(c)3 because I refuse to beg for help and I hate red tape. I'm a disabled vet and we do what we can afford which has included buying a farm that has a 5000 sq ft building that we have just to house the birds. Our mission is to give the birds their best life as close as we can to freedom and remove them from the home hopping that so often comes with being a pet. Most of our surrenders are from the elderly and families of the departed. They are comfortable with knowing that the bird will not be subjected to being passed around. We even have previous owners that come occasionally to visit the birds and know that they are happy and healthy. Love your channel and your advise. ❤

My pineapple conyer came and found me in a November 2012 he lived with me for 11 years so happily we bonded and now he just left me August 10th and I'm so sad he was a pineapple green cheek conyer... I don't know where he came from but after a few days we were completely bonded and he was just an amazing companion I miss him so much.... I'm crying right now

Sanctuary I visited was outdoor year round in a colder climate and they all looked like lost souls. Like they were looking to find their long lost family’s. I was pretty sad after seeing that. They had them sorted by species but they didn’t seem interested in each other. I gave room in my flock Marlene I’m best with conures or macaws. I still have a B&G macaw and a CAG BOTH in their 30’s. My macaw has been with me 32 years. I adopted my CAG from a neighbor who had young children and were afraid he would hurt them. Your right Marlene I’m one who has some room if you need a good home for a Leo sized bird conure or mini macaw.

It was nice seeing you on line again. Concerning the Amazon. There are several rescues here in Arizona and a really large Bird Santuary. Paradice Parrot Rescue is in Tucson as well as Tucson Parrot Rescue. In Casa Grande there is Ginger's Parrot Rescue. Any one of the listed ORGs would be able to help. As for this video I did not watch the whole thing. That bird's trauma of leaving it's human was coming through the video so strongly that I was distracted and extreamly sad. Oh and the santauary I mentioned is called the Oasis Bird Santuary. It is located near Benson Arizona. Hope all works out with the Amazon.

You really have such a heart I took a lost bird in people thought was mine I got there knew it wasn't. The bird was so afraid bit and drew blood that was a cockatiel, taking them in the show really works to bond it eventually broke it's leg and I was going to pay the money I have vet experienced she really degraded so I called it and had her put down. But she had come round alot and experienced happiness also with my Alexandra. My Alexandra smartest bird I've had he was so scared when he was little but spoon feeding we are so close. I post photos and videos of him on KZbin and fb recently ish started. Eventually going to buy a macaw. Gives kisses makes turbo noises makes loud noises and goes into a wing flap everywhere.. I love this women I'm glad she stepped in and helped

Birds are such special beings, I wish there were more resources out there for them. My life is a bit if a mess atm, but if I'm able to get it together I want to help birds wherever/however I can. I have 3 rescue budgies that have been with me for 5yrs, but I think I'm capable of helping more. I wish that people wouldn't have to be separated from their loved ones as they age. It would be ideal if senior facilities were equipped for folks to bring their pets along. Sadly it's hard enough to get proper care for our seniors, let alone their pets. We should really invest more resources into how we care for our elderly, they deserve better, and we can't forget that we all get old.

Stop calling him the bird bc he has a name and it's Jose. Jose is a beautiful bird and deserves to be called by his name. You all do it, you call him the bird. How would you like being called the girl or the female all the time and not called by your name. I hope Jose finds a good home where he'll be loved like he was by his previous owner. I'm curious as to why her son didnt take Jose. I feel for Jose and his past owner. Being separated is one thing but being moved hundreds of miles away and never seeing each other again is really hard. Jose should be closer so they can visit each other from time to time.
