Here's one Filipina's story about what happens when bringing your girl west. It's something that a lot of you consider, but do you know all the paperwork and risks involved? Bringing a Filipina west can mean getting stared at as a couple, as well as unwanted attention for your girl - not to mention the inevitable culture shock! It can also require years of forms and lots of patience. Join us as I talk to one couple who's made the move to the west, and see if any of these things are affecting them. Is it a Filipina love story, or a tale of frustration and disappointment?

@ about 13:00 about people asking if you intend to have children. My 2nd Thai wife was 14 years younger than me. She was 38, and a widow with two sons. People asked if we intended on having children together. Our answer was easy. I had a vasectomy after my youngest son was born. She had her tubes tied years before too. So any child coming from our union would have to be named Jesus. That usually got a laugh, and that person would not bug us again.

Pea, you were talking about immigration to the "USA", and should of been more specific, than generalizing that it is the same in all Western countries. I live in Canada, and we have more liberal laws, and attitudes towards immigration, than the USA.

@@DianaOldfield I noticed that, also. He seemed like a caring man, but very controlling. Maybe, that is why he wanted to marry a more traditional woman? I did find it a bit uncomfortable, in how he interrupted her, and spoke for her, instead of letting her speak for herself. Maybe he did that because he was just overstimulated by the interview? Or maybe because she is shy, or uncomfortable speaking in English? I would of liked to of heard more from her, rather than just him speaking all of the time.

Once again Pea, you hit a home run with this segment; I learn so very much from your well thought out and pertinent content. Your channel has made my relationship with my beautiful Filipina richer, deeper and far less stressful than any relationship I have ever been in before. Our age gap, our cultural differences, our distance from each other and the time we still have to invest for our union to become complete seem far less daunting thanks to your efforts. Special thanks Malyn & James for sharing their experience, which has instilled in me even greater confidence and much joy for my fast approaching first visit to your beautiful archipelago. Cheers to you, cheers to the Philippines and cheers to Malyn & James as well. Eleen and I are in your debt!

Been married to my Pinay wife for ten very happy years. We have settled in a major modern city in Australia and it’s very important in the beginning to want to be involved in work , study and get about see and do things . Don’t just stay inside and feel homesick . Fortunately , after ten years of study. exams , work and more studies my wife now holds a degree in nursing after starting in Australia with nothing. Work does not just bring in a few dollars it’s a gigantic help to fitting into an advanced multi cultural society. We know all our neighborurs . She has made good friends at work and University with others not born in The Philippines. It’s important to get to know non Filipinos in the new country.” I’m shy “ is not an excuse in Australia and the educational and intellectual benefits are evident every day . If the Pinay lives in the new country she has to embrace it not just sit inside at home . Expand your knowledge, studies and embrace the advantages in the advanced country.

Great video, Miss Pea. It’s not to see a successful union where the the guy got a loving and caring Filipina. Us guys should all be so blessed. I belong to a Fil-Am Club here in New Jersey and I’ve seen many of the girls (about 10-15%) over the years who come to the US and end up leaving the guy. These girl’s exotic good looks invite younger guys and I guess the temptation is too much. The majority of the woman from our club though, truly do love their husbands and get involved in many of the couples activities. Then, you have women like my ex-wife who only came here for the money. It just depends on the woman. If you find a Filipina who is kind, caring, has a good heart and is trustworthy treasure her forever because you will never find anyone better. I wish the two of them all the best and may God bless their union. Thanks again for showing a positive love story. We need more of that in today’s world.

Many sailors and Marines were marrying and bringing their “girl” back to the States since the early 70’s. My wife made the trip in 1982 and hasn’t been back to the P.I. Since. I was one of them. Met and married my asawa in Olongapo while on deployment. Neither one of us was interested at all in a steady relationship let alone a marriage. It just sorta evolved organically and before we knew it we were husband and wife. Never looked back. We were married for 42 years before my wife passed away a year ago. Best decision we ever made. We made each other so happy, had three wonderful children I'm so proud of, everything I am I owe to my late wife. Everybody's situation is different, and of course most of the people I ran with when we got married thought the worst -- "Oh, foreign national; Olongapo no less; yeah okay we know why and we know where this is going." Hey, if you want to limit yourself by being guided by stereotypes, have at it. My wife and I knew what we had, and it had substance. My wife was used to the gossip and the stereotypes; just the mere fact that she worked in Olongapo, she got a lot of negative comments from people in her barrio. I had to listen to the same thing. My CMC was convinced we'd be divorced within six months. Mindy and I had nothing to prove to anybody; we knew what we had and we treasured it. I miss her terribly and my biggest regret is that more people will never know the character and substance of this remarkable woman. This couple makes me smile, because I've been there and I know how this fella feels -- and I have a little insight to the character and substance of his bride.

@@martypoll you can get a ten year multi entry visa that allows 6 out of 12 months a year in the U.S. VERY easily. It took me less than 10 minutes at the embassy. They say, "Don't break the rules." and stamp the paper. Assuming that you provide the proper marriage contract and application and, of course, money. Not a lot of money and not a lot of time. Not only in the USA. In the EU as well, although it differs a bit in which country you live there. Hello. I live in Canada with my Filipina wife. She has been here for 14 years. It took 2 1/2 years to get her here. First year i had to deal with Philippine courts getting my wife's name and birthdate corrected. Second year Canadian visa application. 1/2 year getting travel documents for my Philippines born son. I did all the Canadian visa applications myself. Gave the CIC a big box of letters. Almost 1 cubic foot the box was. Also i had a good job, and so showing that i had enough money for support was easy. The hardest part was when my wife was 8 months pregnant, and Canadian embassy in Manila wanted paperwork about court docs and her changed birth certificate. Her Dad really help as he was involved in the Philippines court. She could barely move with a son of almost 9 pounds at the time. Every time i travelled to the Philippines, i asked about how one immigrates to Canada. The Canada border people were quite helpful, as well as the Filipino's working at the airport in Manila. So when it was time for my family to immigrant. I had a detailed checklist. So i knew what paper work i needed to show and where we needed to go. I flew to the Philippines 2 days before their departure. Then we got all her belongings together. There were 5 of us total. I bought seats for everyone including my 9 month son. I bought the seat so i could have his 120 lbs of luggage. 5x2x60 pounds plus 5x15 pounds carry-on. So 675 lbs of luggage is what we brought to Canada. I had a plan when I arrived in Vancouver. I got a porter, paid him $60.00 to keep my family together while i went to the paid parking to retrieve my vehicle (a pickup truck). About 20 minutes later i had returned. The porter and myself loaded all the luggage in the back of the pickup truck. I then tarped and tied it down with rope. We then had about 1 1/2 hour drive to get to the ferry. All 4 of them fell off to sleep right away during the drive. Then when we arrived at the ferry terminal, they woke up. Now the time was about 7:30pm. They could not stop thinking it was noon. We took about 10 days to travel across western Canada to get to my home in Saskatchewan. We had many adventures driving to Saskatchewan. That is for another day. Document everything, every money transfer, every letter. Ask people at airports what you need and where you go for that paper work. The actually travel from Manila to Canada was super simple, with my checklist. Canada Immigration in Vancouver was also easy because of my checklist. Even had a certified bank draft, that I had given to my wife, giving her proof that she had funds to travel. Once you land in Canada, one needs to get a SIN number. Health card. Again i had that all planned out.

2 years for a marriage visa is actually normal. It's far better to do the 90 day K1 visa, it usually takes 6-9 months to be approved. You get her there much faster. You can always return to Philippines later and have a second wedding ceremony, good idea for a vacation.

I used to have a business in Manila in 2012 , I lived for some years traveling between the two countries, I found its not easy finding a girl you are compatable with by just meeting one online and visiting her and taking her on a holiday, she is always going to be on her best behaviour, you need to spend a lot of time with her to know her culture and understand her. I moved to the Philippines full time and dated many girls for the first year or two, until I learned about the people and the culture and then when I met Sarah I knew she was the one and we now have been together 6 years and it still took a few years to begin with to really be in love, most girls will say they love you in the first hour of meeting you , but they only love the idea of you. it takes time to fall in true love, especially a Filipina, this is why so many leave you so easily, my advice go to the Philippines and stay there for a long time first.
