"You're enough" is a compliment meaning you're good the way you are and don't need to strive to be more.
@bluflaam777
@bluflaam777 26 күн бұрын
It's often taken differently by different people. One way is to say "you're perfect". Which I believe is bs as no one is perfect, but still a nice sentiment. Other way is to say more like you suggest, but IMO, that leaves ppl to be complacent. Right, we're always growing, evolving, learning etc. to be better versions of ourselves. My favorite way isn't far from yours, but leans more towards, 'you have what it takes to get you thru', i.e., don't give up. That leaves the door open for improvement and to include your friends because you have them too. I'll get by with a little help from my friends...as it goes. "We have what it takes" "we are enough" Real life says it takes; time, energy and 'treasure' (whatever is valuable to you).

I compliment a stranger every time I go out. Its a pact i made with myself when I lost all my hair due to chemotherapy. So many strangers woud compliment my bald head, my outfit, earrings, whatever during a time when I felt my lowest in life. I promised to pay it forward and its been years that it I go out shopping, or anywhere I make sure at least once while I am out I compliment someone and you can see that it means a lot to them.

That's beautiful! I do something similar with service reps on the phone. When I've had someone help me when I'm going through something stressful (dealing with identity theft, surgery details, runaround on a service we paid for, etc), after I thank them, I always get their name and ask to speak to their manager or be sent to their voice mail so that I can tell them what a great job they are doing. Customer service reps deal with a lot of stressed out people and bear the brunt of a lot of negativity, so I like to make sure not only THEY know I appreciate them, but their BOSS knows too. When someone goes above and beyond for me, I want to do the same for them.

I think Americans are really used to having people from all over the world either come visit or immigrate to the country, so we have a general, natural curiosity about other cultures as part of our own culture. Most Americans you meet would be REALLY interested in your daily life as a foreigner, regardless of how boring you might think it is. This generally comes from a place of genuine interest and curiosity, and wanting to know more about the people around the world. I really love meeting people from other countries, it's really cool. :)

There was a kid selling computers out of his garage that wanted him to help finance him. Kid was only 17. Uncle thought it was a big risk. Kid was Steve Jobs. $20,000 - $22,000 was good money back then? I had my own house, a brand new '87 Buick Grand National in the driveway. At 25. NO WAY, today?

It may be “thanks for the great service” or it could be a total stranger I’m walking by and I tell some one I love your hair cut, nice beard, beautiful dress or sharp suit. It’s fun to watch people’s eyes light up with pleasure. They made an effort to look go someone noticed. I also make sure to praise young parents or offer encouragement. A simple, you are doing great, or it gets easier, to a parent having a difficult time with a toddler or a teaching moment with a youngest goes a long way! Bro, I live there in Phoenix, Arizona and have made that trip to San Diego many times to visit family when my sisters lived in Vista and Oceanside, California and It’s only about a 5 hour drive, which for most of us is a very quick drive. My room mate drove to Los Angeles last week for a long weekend. California is a pretty common get away spot for many Americans especially living in Arizona. Other nearby get aways are New Mexico, Colorado and Utah, as well as Mexico itself, where we usually drive to to visit family during the holidays. When she sees Mexico in the video, it’s most likely Mexicali or Tijuana. Arizona borders Mexico and it’s a 3 hour drive to the southern border. When I was a kid growing up in Oregon (pacific northwest) every summer for vacation my family would drive down the pacific coast highway through California and stop in San Diego to see my uncle and cousins, then through Arizona in Tucson to see my grandparents (maternal), then through New Mexico to Texas to see my other grandparents (paternal). Then back up through the Sonoran desert, through to California, up the pacific coast highway back home to Oregon. Many Americans may not travel a lot internationally, because traveling between the states here is like traveling through several different countries in Europe. And I make the opposite trip. I've made the drive between San Diego and Phoenix dozens of times throughout my 55 yrs. My favorite place in the entire world is Sedona. Though I'll stay in Phoenix since it's so much more affordable. Coming from the South Bay area of San Diego, I take I-8 through Yuma, but have friends in Oceanside that prefer to use I-10. It's one of those drives that's so familiar, it's like being on autopilot.

Jerome, Arizona! That was a Ghost Town for a long time, after being a mining town. Now it's a artsy touristy kind of place. I only know because my father was born there, and my grandfather was a miner there, during the Great Depression.

California has always had a wall or fences separating Mexico and California, but mostly near the major cities or crossings. In the 90's I even helped design portions of the wall near Yuma, Nogales and Douglas. We used to call them hot walls because they were metal shoring linked and welded together. Those locations were built during Bill Clinton's presidency, but the democrats want voters to forget about that. On a hot day the metal would get sizzling hot, and by nightfall they could easily be seen when viewed thru a thermal imager.

L3WG Get a house with some space outside (and no anti-gardening restrictions) so you can grow some fruit trees/veggies/herbs. Gardening can be really cool especially with all the varieties you can buy online. You can grow a customized jungle of food!! My favorite seed-website sells like 90 different kinds of just heirloom tomatoes.

There is a sort of olf fashioned American supersition but I really like it. It is a concept that if you want to feel better you do something or say something that is true to somebody else to make them feel good then you feel better as a result. In America I get random compliments all of the time from strangers telling me they really like my tshirt or my hair style looks really nice and I come back with "Thanks! You just made my day!" or I make a quick observation and compliment something back that I think is true like "Thanks! I also like your shirt it's really cool!" or "Thanks! I really like your style!" it sort of lifts the atmosphere and everybody feels better and "attitude is contagious" so it is like Americans are trying to spread a positivity virus or something. It's just something everybody does. It's almost like a superstition.

I just started watching your video. I don't usually ask for ice in my water, or lemon! I'm good with just plain water! It's usually cool enough, not too cold, just enough to quench my thirst! Even if I get thirsty I'm still good with tap water! It depends on where you get your water from though. I lived in a town where the water was "hard", full of nastiness! I would wash out my 1 gallon jugs of milk and go to my parents house and fill them up with their much tastier tap water! It depends on where you live! From Erie County NY Love your channel!!!

About the compliments, where I grew up it would be considered rude to stare at a person. So if you were looking at them for a good reason, like you thought they were pretty or their hair look cool or their outfit was nice, we were taught to just say that to them. So unless you really were staring for a bad reason, you would just tell them the reason.

American culture is primarily inclusive. Every person belongs to so many groups that there is always something to bond with. And complimenting each other - especially women complimenting other women - is really a thing.

An "F" can also mean a failing grade. In school, we are often marked from A (the highest grade) to F (the lowest - you failed grade). If the lady from the other table said "You're an F" it could have been a smarmy comment by the lady who thought the young French lady was making a "hit" on her man.

I don't know about everyone but many of us, if we see something we particularly like about another person, whether it be an article of clothing, a hairdo, etc., lots of time we'll say something. I got complemented on my shoes the other day at a doctor's office, another time I got told that the color of my blouse looked good on me. This is mostly between ladies. Men usually start a conversation or a complement in a different way because they don't want to come across as hitting on a woman. When I was young someone on the street told me I had beautiful hair. These are things that make both people's day and make everyone happier.

Those are sweet potato waffle fries I think? Just because of the orange color. I could be wrong. Lewis, I was at a new restaurant the other night and commenting that I wondered what something on the menu tasted like. The man at the table next to us had ordered what I was talking about. It was like hot honey breadsticks? Or something like that. He overhead and offered me one! My dad and I carried on a conversation with him and his wife for half the meal! I always compliment people that I don't know. Especially women. I'm complimented a lot on my eyes, but the best compliments I've ever received from someone I don't know is how well my kids are behaved, or that I must be a good mom. ❤

In the U.S. the older people are the more easily the compliments flow. Older people no longer have anything to prove, aren’t competing anymore, and know how wonderful it feels to be on the receiving end of one. It’s much more satisfying to leave someone with a smile. This is another reason we joke about people turning into their parents. 😂 Both my parents could strike up a conversation with anyone and I appear to be following in their footsteps. 😊

You're not planning this with stealth in mind. What you have to do is come to America First. 1) Tour about 3-4 really good States -- maybe 1 in each region: North, South, East, and West, and maybe a 5th State in the Middle. 2) Bring your girl along as you eat, have fun, look at all the beauty around you, and meet friendly, good-hearted people. 3) And while doing those things, plan visits to houses that are in your price range in each region. Just to get her really thinking about it while she's immersed in the adventure your on together. It may not change her from a No to an instant Yes. But the idea is to get her to Maybe, to Entertain The Idea. See? You can always move. But if you really want to get to live here, just start with a great visit and introducing the thoughts of the possibilities Then. Ha
