The amaranth flower is one of the symbols of immortality and has been used as such a symbol since the time of Ancient Greece. Indeed, the word comes from the Greek (Αμάρανθος or Αμάραντος), meaning the "one that does not wither," or the never-fading (flower). To illustrate the difference in fleeting and everlasting beauty. Aesop's Fables (sixth century B.C.E.) compares the rose to the amaranth to illustrate the difference in fleeting and everlasting beauty. A Rose and an Amaranth blossomed side by side in a garden, and the Amaranth said to her neighbour, "How I envy you your beauty and your sweet scent! No wonder you are such a universal favourite." But the Rose replied with a shade of sadness in her voice, "Ah, my dear friend, I bloom but for a time: my petals soon wither and fall, and then I die. But your flowers never fade, even if they are cut; for they are everlasting.” I think Amaranth is a metaphor for Nightwish. The band that never fades away. Even with changes to the singer they found a way to continue to shine and bloom. The fallen angel is also a metaphor for Nightwish. Wounded but able to find a new birth and escape to live again.

@@Mischnikvideos Well chart position is only a relativ comparison to other songs at the same time. It doesnt tell you anything about the absolute number of sold copies. I also read, that the two ALBUMS with Anette are the most sold ones of Nightwish. Concerning which SINGLE is most sold i dont know. I think the more "usual" singing by Anette made Nightwish "likeable" in larger public, not only metal fans.

@@matthiaskellner9331 According to Wikipedia, Once has sold 2.3 million copies, Dark Passion Play 2.0 million. Tarja is clearly ahead of Anette. In 2006, Spotify went online and the number of albums sold plummeted globally. To be awarded a gold record, a certain number of copies had to be sold. This number has since been reduced because fewer and fewer artists have reached the old number. After almost 20 years of Spotify, there is not much left of album sales. In some music genres, artists have now stopped producing albums because they are not selling enough. The playlists of the streaming services now dominate music consumption. In rap, only short songs are produced that just meet the streaming services' payout conditions. The absolute numbers today can no longer be compared with the numbers from before 2006. Even before that, the illegal Napster caused the first slump. The only sensible thing is to compare it with other artists and then you get to the chart positions. And this is where Anette is losing out. Anette has sold significantly more records than Floor, with declining global numbers and also more than the records before Once. But Floor has stopped the downward trend in the charts. How well the singers are received can be seen in the searches on Google. The more people search for them, the more interested they are. You can see it with Floor, for example, how the searches exploded after watching the TV show Beste Zangers. If you compare the three singers, then Anette does not exist. As with KZbin, it is also a duel between Floor and Tarja, with advantages for Floor. Floor has achieved greater fame with her TV appearances.

Anette was the best singer of Nightwish in my opinion, though not many do share my opinion I guess. She has this weirdly "innocent" but hard tone in her voice which I just love. All the respect to the skills of Tarja Turunen and Floor Jansen, but she just hits some sweet spot in me I can't describe any better. The two albums she sang are the only ones from Nightwish I care to listen if I'm honest. Imaginaerum is just epic.

So for their original singer, this is my favorite Tarja performance. Just the ending where she sings in duet with Emppus guitar is sooo great 😍😍 🎼 Nightwish - Swanheart - From Wishes To Eternity 🎶 Remastered HD 🎶 kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqTGXomEpdWLntU For me, who is a fan since 1998, this concert is maybe what for all the people who only know them from KZbin these days, is now Wacken 2013. And don't get me wrong, Wacken was fantastic, Floor is great, but this concert has a kind of "magic" for me that is not the same in newer concerts.

This is Annette Olzen. Amaranth was released in 2007 , and Tarja was already gone.

Why were you scared? What did you expect from a metal band, angelic songs? Uh, wait, they do that too ;-) The problem with the Swede Anette Olzon is that she no longer combines opera and metal. She has no classical singing training. In 2004 they made it onto mainstream radio and at the same time had a falling out with their opera singer Tarja Turunen. The band probably wanted to appear more mainstream-friendly and therefore hired the pop singer Anette as her successor. This worked well with the first album, but the success of the second dropped significantly. There was another argument and Anette left the band two days before the next concert. Mastermind Tuomas says that the band was in survival mode at the time. Canceling the tour was not possible because costs had already been incurred, and continuing without a singer was also not possible. Anette has the two most clicked videos, but then she disappears in the duel between Tarja and Floor. Demons are not mastermind Tuomas' thing. She was great in studio. Her voice absolutely was more mainstream and appealing to the masses and their recordings with her are still to my knowledge their best selling. I hate when people marginalize her contributions. This band is not what they are without the contributions from all. Floor just happens to be among the greatest live performers of all time.

Anette have good voice and it sound nice in studio version songs and songs that are made for her voice. But live performances are not so great espessely when she sangTarja's songs. she have more pop singers voice and it is not so powerful and she don't have so large range than Tarja or Floor. My favorite singer is Floor. She can sing everything.

Btw.: don't get me wrong, i love "Meadows of Heaven" and "Eva" .. but of course the studio versions. The problem is that Nightwish always was a live band, and Anette was not the right person for that job. Fine in studio but live a desaster. And i bet Elite Ryd would have been a way better choice for that, but sadly Tuomas thought she was too young at that point 😟
