British Army's Ranger Regiment's breaching skills put to the test

The Ranger Regiment, the British Army's Special Operations-capable force, have been practising the art of breaching at a disused quarry in Somerset.
Forcing entry through a door is not as simple as it looks in the films, with breaching barriers requiring certain knowledge and expertise.
The Rangers learn how to make strip charges from scratch, importantly using items that are readily available like carpet tape and hosepipe, before blowing off some doors, demonstrating that wherever they are in operating in the world they can easily source the kit they need.

@@Frank-uw5xq The SAS has never been capable of implementing US style arm special forces. To even attempt that would make the SAS training pipeline too expensive and 4 years of training at a minimum. Then there is the risk that it would be too complex to create such a trooper that can do both at the scale of the SAS.

Need another air craft carrier, need to complete the tempest within budget and sooner rather than 2035. We need to give our miltary all they need equipment wise and although we are surrounded by nuclear subs we need things like the patriot defence system in the UK also. It baffled me to find we virtually have nothing to defend ourselfs with. I was having the argument about who would win between China and the USA and her allies. The final conclusion came down to quality of equipment, experience, logistics and anyone with the uk on there side wins . The respect our force holds is far greater than a tier 1. Plus when you have the USA as an older brother then who needs tier 1 status .

@@stevecroft3973 LOL, if you think nuclear weapons nation is gonna head on for war directly, my boi...you need to go Sandhurst academy. China simply needs to pull out their investments and divert their economy from Europe and American regions if war is to rise. Even in Afghanistan, Taliban who weilded Soviet era weapons defeated whole of NATO after 20 years while USA ran for their lives in middle of the night. In war, if resources runs out first you are doomed no matter the capability of your army.

Rangers are military units that are capable of operating independently, for long periods of time over great distances. Hence why rather are probably being called rangers. The actual force is going to be titled Army Special Operations Brigade.

Super weird as an American soldier to see a British Ranger Regiment. They should have called it anything else. It would be like if the US renamed a unit the SAS or something. It's just odd and in bad taste.
