As you said, Amira always impresses us. Amazing. What a voice, so crystalline and pure and, yes, she sings effortlessly. You think about it and she could be a millionaire, a celebrity, but she chose a quiet life doing what she enjoys: singing. Also she is humble and inspires peace when she sings. I know I’m here singing all these praises but feel it’s just amazing. I don’t have another word to describe it

I had the privilege of seeing Amira perform in a relatively small church here in Southern California during Christmas 2023'. This was the very first time ever seeing Amira in person. I can tell you first hand Amira has this big beautiful booming voice. What I mean is that she sings effortlessly and a great big beautiful sound is projected throughout. Every hair in your body is sticking straight up. She is probably of average women height so it makes you wonder how can she do this, it's not normal at all. In fact the sound person was having trouble adjusting for it. They must have set up their sound system as if Amira was an ordinary Sunday church vocalist. Surprise Surprise! Well they adjusted and it was once in a lifetime experience.

Hello ! Great reaction as usual, thank you ! Amira already said she hit the E6 in the duet of the Phantom of the opera, last october. To give you an idea, E6 was the highest note Maria Callas could usually sing. Her voice is more and more powerful and her Italian diction isn't perfect yet (neither was the accent of the Dutch soprano Cristina Deutekom !), but is getting really better. I want to underline also that Amira has just began her Bachelor of music's studies, and of course she chose the voice as first instrument, so we can hope to hear a few beautiful things in the next months and years... And yes, Amira made me discover the world of opera, thanks to her... 😊

Great reaction, guys! I don't want to be pedantic, but this aria doesn't have an E6. Towards the end, where the soprano sings the word "lontana", the syllable "ta" is projected with the high note B5 (last note of the fifth octave). Amira projects this B5 wonderfully, it's long, it's high, it's beautiful, it's on pitch. And then she immediately makes an extraordinary portamento (sliding) with vibrato (vibration) for the syllable "na" with the note B4, without breathing. An absolute queen.

I'm not an opera buff, but Amira makes it accessible. She conveys the emotion of the song even if you don't know the words. Two of the judges there were at her first appearance 10 years ago. Chantel Janzen, and Dan Karaty the American. You could see they were delighted to make the re-acquaintance again. Amira sang this one to end her 18th birthday concert. It's available on dvd, an hour of delightful music, only two pieces are on YT, Nearer my God to thee, and La Califfa. Give your ears a treat and get a copy. When Amira was 11, she sang something called Ave Maria, Gomez. ( William Gomez composed it). In that piece she does that descending thing from a high note to a lower. She has had an inate talent, from an early age. Thanks for continuing to follow Amira, what she releases is pure aural gold. She has just started a university course, so we might find the amount of output dropping off while she us otherwise engaged. Plenty of her earlier work to enjoy though.

Amira and Ruhan du Toit and Amira singing in the musical The Phantom of the Opera has recently appeared on You Tube. There is a long preamble before they sing, so you can easily run it on (I did!). The most astounding part is the last note, an E6; rarely do singers achieve that.

Sadly the end to our hopes that she could have been the world's greatest opera singer. A good start might be something light and amusing: The Doll aria, from the opera the Tales of Hoffmann, by Offenbach.

You're right, she was perfect in the Olympia aria, but I loved also her renditions of Despina in Così fan tutte, and so on. However, my favourite piece is La pastorella delle Alpi, the song by Rossini she performed in 2016. I too am very sensitive to the extremely high notes. Her voice although high doesn't make my ears hurt. One song at a time. While some other singers who attempt to hit those notes very much do.

When was this actual performance? Was it recent? If so, why is someone with the talent of Amira Willighagen competing on a talent show? She did that 13 years ago and wiped the floor with her competition at the age of 9. Surely, Amira isn't struggling to gain recognition after 11 years? There's something very wrong in the world if such a giftted singer has to try to earn a dollar on a talent show to further their careers.
