The biggest indicator of what happened (or didn't happen) in Paris was when Ted hands Michelle her bag but he doesn't let go, Ted and the camera both look at her hand and there's no engagement ring on her finger (14:25 in this video)

Relationships are challenging, especially when you're parents. I interpreted that look from Michelle as a bit wistful because, no matter what, she still loves Ted because they have a child together. I think she wishes that the two of them could have made their relationship work.

"We'll never have Paris" is a reversal of one of the most famous lines of one of the greatest films every, "Casablanca", when Humphrey Bogart's character says to his love interest, Ingrid Bergman as they (have to) part permanently, "We'll always have Paris" (where they met and fell in love right before the Wehrmacht marched into Paris in 1940, after defeating the French Army. Great movie. Great job on the reversal of the line by the writers, here.

Great episode. Dr Jake is a pound shop Ted. I think his wife is regretting her decision to leave Ted. I love the Hey Jude part and Rebecca’s advice to Ted. Remember Colin and Issac are really good friends.

I think she completely flipped on it when he facetime’d her and showed something other than optimism. It showed her a new side of Ted she hadn’t seen and it kind of reintroduced him to her.

100% got that vibe the first time I watched it and was really hoping it would work out that way. If you'll remember from the first season - Michelle never said she stopped loving him and that she would keep trying. Ted said (reliving a counseling session) that his constant optimism was the cause of the problems. I think absence is making the heart grow fonder....

Consider yourself lucky. I had a traumatic brain injury in 2000, still have a 24hr headache, memory issues, never know what day it is, and extreme light sensitivity. Funny thing is, with this series, I always know when it's Monday.

Ted is a fantastic guy, but he does have a little bit of that tl toxic positivity. When you are in a relationship you have to be able to talk about the bad thing says well and not just sweep them under the rug. I have dated men like this, it's very frustrating when you want to be heard and you're just being patted on the head and being told everything's ok. In a way, I can be a little bit like Ted myself. I think Michelle is a good person and that she also cares very much about Ted
