I don't think anyone should see the world as one big whole that is exclusively either good or bad, because there are so many different aspects to the world, so many different events and people. While the world as it is could inarguably improve, I know there is a lot of true good out there, and that there always will be. It's human nature; the bad might never be extinguished, but the good is just as immortal. I may not be religious, but I have faith in humanity.

He got his inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons and wanted to add the demon slaying element _because_ he's religious. He's also into heavy metal, which he's gotten flak for because apparently it's "not Christian". He's in fact very devout. Quote: Petersen is a practicing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but sees no conflict between his faith and his design of games involving Satanic elements. While working on Doom, he said to John Romero, "I have no problems with the demons in the game. They're just cartoons."

This is known as the Abilene Paradox. The name comes from an anecdote that management expert Jerry B. Harvey used to illustrate the concept. "On a hot afternoon visiting in Coleman, Texas, the family is comfortably playing dominoes on a porch, until the father-in-law suggests that they take a [50-mile] trip to Abilene for dinner. The wife says, "Sounds like a great idea." The husband, despite having reservations because the drive is long and hot, thinks that his preferences must be out-of-step with the group and says, "Sounds good to me. I just hope your mother wants to go." The mother-in-law then says, "Of course I want to go. I haven't been to Abilene in a long time." The drive is hot, dusty, and long. When they arrive at the cafeteria, the food is as bad as the drive. They arrive back home four hours later, exhausted. One of them dishonestly says, "It was a great trip, wasn't it?" The mother-in-law says that, actually, she would rather have stayed home, but went along since the other three were so enthusiastic. The husband says, "I wasn't delighted to be doing what we were doing. I only went to satisfy the rest of you." The wife says, "I just went along to keep you happy. I would have had to be crazy to want to go out in the heat like that." The father-in-law then says that he only suggested it because he thought the others might be bored. The group sits back, perplexed that they together decided to take a trip which none of them wanted. They each would have preferred to sit comfortably, but did not admit to it when they still had time to enjoy the afternoon."

I was in line at a donut shop once, and I knew from experience that they only took cash. There was a nurse in front of me, and she was obviously buying enough for coworkers, but I saw her holding a debit card. When she went to pay, and found out that they only took cash, but she did not have cash, I paid for her tab. It felt good, especially since she was a nurse, and spends her days helping others. And I was really glad that I had enough cash on hand to pay for hers and mine. :D

I have ADHD. I did find a job that often sucks in my whole attention which is great, but for us, attention is not the measure of love or value. Don’t worry. I see connections and have creativity others don’t, so I’m a valuable team member (I’m *not* making the contributions everyone else is … LOL school judging me as “less than”) and my best people are the ones who know I interrupt for an internal reason and love me not “despite it” and not “because of it” but just because of all of me. Don’t let platitudes make you feel you are less than (that’s a platitude!) even when they come from lovely people.

Priests, nuns and pastors are targeted way often by demons to keep them away from God and tempt them. So yeah i can say he must have encountered one. Source: My two sisters and my aunt are nuns and have told me stories about their encounters with the devil. It’s not like in the movies though so i can’t describe it. Basically the demons just try and scare, tempt, and test their faith.

I am a catholic, and have been a bit of a heathen for not going to church. But this made my day, especially with what he said about pets. When I was young, I went to a catholic camp, and I heard a nun say that animals don’t go to heaven because, unlike humans, they weren’t made in god’s image. And I had lost my dog whom I had raised since birth a few months before hand. So hearing Rev. Chris day that really made my heart warm.
@marie52508 Жыл бұрын
I went to a Catholic school growing up. When my dog died, I asked my teacher who was a Jesuit priest if my dog would go to heaven. He said that while it's not explicitly stated in the Bible that dogs do go to heaven, he said that God loves all of His creations and would definitely prepare a special place in His kingdom for each of them especially for creatures as loving as dogs. I think some religious people take the Bible too literally that they forget that the main message of Scripture is God's love for us.
