Superb video. Good to see the old class 303s in action. The class 90s look brand new. Brings back a lot of good memories. Thanks for posting.

I used to travel lots on the 303 for school and later on for work in Glasgow. The compressor had a very unique sound.
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus4 жыл бұрын
They were built by Cravens of Sheffield unlike the 303s which were built earlier in the 1960s by Pressed Steel, so would have had different equipment.

Cheeky '38 tube stock sneaking in at the end there! Never got to experience the 303s myself sadly, oldest EMU I've experienced are the 314s which too are sadly gone now.

The 38 shot is the 'departing shot' attached to the end of my older VHS uploads to put the end cards over without ruining the end of the film......

Carluke. My local station. A paint job and a new car park, but otherwise unchanged. The traction is a lot less varied now though.

Thank you....a good spot, plenty of action but on a pair of reverse curves, trains would be upon you before you knew it!

One of my favorite places to spot. Although, this should only be done in the summer as the Glasgow platform is open to the elements for miles around. 🥶 I miss the venerable class 303.

I love that 6 car formation with the br blue and grey and the Strathclyde orange and brown liveries. That was a good catch that for a video. 👍👍

I was lucky to get the B&G class 311, they were only a small class and were being withdrawn at thsi time. I think only a few 311s were painted in Strathclyde colours and none were OPO converted. I have a few more on this upload here at Partick kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXmVfIxqja53qsU

A fellow trainspotter ran off a superb shot of 85103 at Law Junction that summer, filling in on the Glasgow to Birmingham as far as Crewe. Good times.

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus Thanks just watched the Newton on Ayr one... Happy day's like stepping back in time. Sadly it's much quieter now. Even the big gas holder's gone.

Great seeing the 303s in action. Is there any reason the Class 90s had differences in livery application? I notice on some the white carries on round the front and rear pillars and roof dome yet, another has them black
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus4 жыл бұрын
Probably happened in Crewe Works....BR had a term for it....a cock-up! Or, maybe it was Friday, run out of the correct paint.....oh, f**k it, bung a bit of black/white on it, no one will notice.......

Interesting: What's the deal with the absence of the short, red semi-band twixt the windows and the roof line along one half of that Buffet (7:26)?
@hexagon78954 жыл бұрын
In InterCity Swallow livery they decided to omit the red band for catering unlike the previous "Executive" version. Look at buffet car types with HST trailers and Mk4 coaches in IC Swallow and you'll notice the same omission.
@soundseeker634 жыл бұрын
The smart and shiny modern look of the 90s is somewhat diluted by the shabby blue/grey mk1 that was often coupled up to it during this period. They could certainly get their skates on though! Shame they have all but vanished from passenger services now.
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Anglia ones were the last until Grand Central starts up on the West Coast. I think the MkI's in the trains were on the cross country services rather than the Euston ones, CC always had hand-me-downs.....

God I miss the railway of yesterday. Its ruined forever now. Money grabbing TOCs and civil servants supposedly in charge of maintenance which never gets undertaken. Great film again Soi but makes me sad to watch the good old days of big bad BR. They certainly looked after the railway better than Network Rail. Most of the network is just an uncared mess now. It is a national disgrace. Lovely 303s and 314s.

@@EM-yk1dw Surely not the electrics as the route from Carstairs to Edinburgh was not wired up until 1991..? My guess is they had been stabled / receiving attention at Polmadie depot.
