I have never worked on a seagull but have worked on hundreds if not thousands of small engines and was taught that if you are getting an arc (spark) across the ignition points than you have a failing condenser. That is the condensers function, to absorb the currant when the magnetic field collapses to keep an arc from burning up the points.

Iv tried this on mine and although i cant see a spark on the contacts im getting the occasional spark from tbe plug??

Love all your great seagull videos, recently bought a late 60s silver century, converted the amal carb to 25:1 as per your other video, great tip about the radiator key. starts 1st time and it seems to run much better than on 10:1, obviously due to less oil,any risk of doing damage with less lubrication do you think?

+graham cliffe Hi Graham. You should be safe with 25/1 . They all seem to have their own temperament and run better on slightly different mix ratios. Thanks for commenting

Hi my flywheel has very little magnitic pull it can't even hold a small washer on it, I use to have your email address but I can't find it, I got a seagull from you in 2016 still going great, I did get a second recently and it's not running at all, it could be ignition coil or flywheel any help or advice would be great.

ok im about ready to sell my two for scrap. i cant get any spark,ive cleaned the points ,tested the coil (4,7ohm) traced the power all the way to the points and still get 4,7 on closed and oddly enough 4,7 when open,(on both sides,should only be on one side) spun it vigourously with the drill and still no spark.there was spark when i started,then i cleaned the tank,put fuel in and tried to start then there was no spark anymore.please help.thanks

If you dont spray oil in the intake side the thats 5 minutes on dry bearings 🇺🇸
