Earls Court, London.
M/S of a girl working out in a gym under supervision of a man (personal trainer). High angle shot of the same girl exercising. C/U shot of man's face. Woman is Jill Day (pop singer and actress) and a man is her partner and trainer Rusty Hood, former PTI in the Australian Navy. Jill has been training for several years and she (and an increasing number of women) find weight training a great way to lose weight, gain weight or simply keep fit. Several shots of Ms Day exercising with weights.
Ms May has decided to open her own gym and it proved popular with her colleagues and other attractive men. Canadian actor Lee Paterson is seen bare chested, exercising with weights. Robert Brown, less fit and with more clothes on, is shown working out too.
M/S of two breath taking, muscly, sexy young men working out with weights. One is James Lawrie, Mister East of Scotland and another, South African Johnny Isaacs, a runner-up in the Mister Universe Competition. They wear only underwear so that their bodies are displayed. Great bodies! Wall behind them is covered in pinup girls - what else! Perfect macho image of the 50's. M/S of Ms Day coming to admire the guys. C/U shot of Ms Day's hand feeling Johnny's biceps is followed by C/U shot of her very pleased face.
Note: Mute and Track neg for this story are missing.

@@boyl.8251 He's doing breathing squats, not the type of squat usually done these days. The idea isn't to shift weight, it's to work on breathing. The belief of the time was that breathing exercises like the pullover and the breathing squat aid ribcage expansion and make the chest look bigger as a result. This is still hotly disputed today. These were staple exercises for people like Steve Reeves who had MASSIVE ribcages which really showcased their pecs. Pullovers definitely strengthen intercostal muscles, breathing squats is a little more dubious but these aren't actually bad exercises, in fact the pullover is an essential exercise in my opinion. The curl seems to be getting the job done as well to be fair.

@@boyl.8251Not with you maybe. There's plenty of utter crap out there these days, fundamental exercises like this work better than a lot of bro-science peddled today. The techniques and diet of silver era bodybuilders tended to result in healthy, impressive physiques and they actually lived pretty long lives. I'd rather work a decent full-body routine incorporating breathing and joint mobility than 90% of the utter crap that most people do today.

The science was in the works, man. You can see an awesome picture of fitness before it became what it is today. I wish we could see ancient people in India, swinging weighted clubs to build muscle hundreds of years ago. People have always known heavy lifting will make you stronger. The science that made it safer and more efficient took time. It's still changing. People 100 years from now are gonna say the same thing about us

Johnny Isaacs told my father and his training partner weightlifting champion Harry Dubois , that he (Johnny Isaacs) lent Sean Connery 5 pound to get a cab to an acting audition as he was broke. He said you know he never paid me back. Typical Scottsman. The interesting part is that the audition was for James Bond.

That's a wild story since Sean Connery is my favourite Bond! Did your father pursue bodybuilding at all?
@bhu3050
@bhu3050 Жыл бұрын
@@TheEpicProjects300K Extremely successfully, yes. Weightlifting , bodybuilding and powerlifting in fact he was known as a very strong man in the region and so was invited to the very first ever powerlifting meet in the country. Before that it was weightlifting bodybuilding and odd lift competitions where they would perform an overhead press , a curl and or some other “odd lift” such as the continental clean and jerk where the weight is cleaned to the belt and hitched. Too many people were tearing tendons especially bicep in the strict curl so they formed 3 lifts and regulations and the sport of powerlifting was born. My father was also a training partner and very good friends with Reg Parks. He was owner of the iconic gym that he training at purchasing it solely because the owner was in financial difficulties and he didn’t want the gym he trained at to close and everyone came through the circuit , Arnold , Zane, Draper , Bill Pearl , Tom Platz , Bill Kazamier and other top tier powerlifters weightlifters and strong men from around the world including Eastern European weightlifters. He still trains people privately to this day and is still an international judge for the ifbb and ipf. There’s so much history to strength sports and gym culture in fact most people don’t know that Sean Connery was a bodybuilder and worked as a grave digger before he was an actor.
