@@The_Crucible714 You may be confusing Häagen-Daz with and a now-extinct American ice cream maker called Frusen Glädjé, which is a legit Swedish phrase for "Frozen Joy". Up until the mid 1980s US television mostly consisted of Three National networks: CBS, ABC, and NBC and usually a couple local channels. Then in 1986-7 they launched the FOX network national, this was right before cable TV became popular. Married with Children was the first primetime and one of the most popular shows on this new network, It was on Sunday nights primetime followed by the Tracey Ulman show which aired cartoon short called the Simpsons. The new network loved The Simpsons so much they ordered a Christmas Special(which became the first episode of the Simpsons), it became a regular show. Also popular on the new Fox Network was the Arsenio Hall Show.

Exactly I don't know what these comments are suggesting times were different and you could say whatever you wanted. That totally wasnt the case and these shows and fox were threatened by the government... these shows were intentionally extreme by Fox's design because they were going up against the original US TV channels and wanted to grab eyes. They took risks none of the other channels would and it gave us shows like this and the simpsons.

Al Bundy (played by Ed O'Neil) was the main character on "Married With Children". Which aired from 1987 to 1996. In the show, he hates his hot wife, hates his life, and kids. He's worked at a show store since he was in high school. He was a star football quarterback in high school. Ed O'Neil, who played Al Bundy, was an actual football quarterback. He even tried out for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He lost that roll to future Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw. He turned to acting shortly after.

Several quick things: most of the Marcy "chicken" jokes were written by actress Amanda Bearce herself, even though she and Ed O'Neill truly didn't like each other. And since the show was so popular, most of the large women wrote their own jokes and it was considered a career boost to be on the show and be "insulted" by Al.

That's not true. Married with Children and the Simpsons were way beyond what everything else was on TV at the time. That was Fox's hook, being the newest channel on the block. To gain viewers at the time they essentially had "the raunchy" lineup. So no the stuff he was saying was a bit on the line back then too. My parents wouldn't even let me watch the Simpsons season 1. it was a whole big thing in the country and the people kind of just kept supporting it despite religious people quite literally trying to ban some of the stuff on Fox.

I'm from Poland and know this show. I agree with almost every pun made by my hero Al Bundy. It was the 90's. Broad side of humour.

The show was called Married With Children. It was a “staple” of television viewing in the 80’s. My friends & I would get together, Sunday nights & watch this & then the Larry Sander’s Show. These WERE the “good old days”, when people had a sense of humor instead of being “triggered” by everything. I watched your video on 9/11 & if you couldn’t “stomach” it, 22 years later, imagine what we Americans felt watching it LIVE. The Bundy’s were hilarious & Al Buddy epitomized a “working class” American family.

Married with Children one of my favorite shows as a kid. It was on late at night almost right before the TV went off the air. Yes, you read that right "off the air," that's how old I am. It was on from 1987 to 1997 I probably started watching it in 1991. Watch it it's amazing, can I get a "Woah Bundy!?"

Ed O'Neill is the actor who played Al Bundy brilliantly. It was a funny show. He went on to play Jay Pritchett in the also very popular comedy Modern Family that was on for several years, too. Both shows were great comedies!

This show had us rolling in the late 80s. It was one of the first shows on the brand new Fox network, along with the Tracy Ullman show, which we used to watch because it sometimes had a cartoon of a family called the Simpsons as one of the sketches. The show was cancelled after a couple years, but the cartoon is still going 35 years later.

Apparently though, Peggy's maiden name and place of origin were edited out of the UK broadcasts, as "Wanker" has a meaning there that is lost in the US. A Brit friend told me he about fell out of his chair when he saw it here.

This was very popular while it was airing in the 90s. It aired on Fox. It pushed the limits even then, but that made people love it more. I think the 90's was the last decade where you could get away with a show like this, maybe up to the 2000's. I watched it when I was a kid. When I was older and rewatched it, I got all the other jokes a kid would miss.

Back in the old television days of the 80s, MWC came on Sunday night. My friends would all get together and watch it collectively. We would drink, laugh, and shove each other around until we heard that Frank Sinatra song as the intro. We all shut up and sat down for the most controversial show at that time.

You can't insult Al Bundy ❗️ He's a Legend ❗️He'll come up with a one-liner that will out-do anything else. This show is very old. It was on Fox for ten years from 1987 to 1997. Ed O'Neill is now 78 years old, so you could never bring this show back. He's a grandfather now ❗️I live in Australia. I used to watch this show on TV after having my evening meal ❗️Those were the best days❗️ There's nothing like this on TV today 👀👍❗️

This came out when I was in high school, was crazy then and just got better through the years lol Makes me laugh when I think of my late dad laughing at Al Bundy putting his hand in his waistband when he sat down on the couch.. Absolutely classic and what's missing from humor today.. Oh Lewis--"Jenny Craig" famous American weight loss program bought by Nestle a few years ago when Jenny Craig sold her company. And "Haagen Dazs" ice cream. Huge ice cream brand in the US but not sure if they have it in the UK

Ed O'Neil was savage as fuck as Al Bundy, but he was an amazing father figure for David Faustino and Christina Applegate, the kids of the show. He often showed up for their follow-up performances in movies/TV shows and just showered them with affection and praise. Also, despite how he talked, Al Bundy stayed married to Peg, never abused her other than jabbing her verbally as much as she did him, never hit his kids, stood up for them when needed, and never let the misery of life put him down into depression. Most shows portrayed the dad as an idiot and a failure, Al supported his family on a single income and was smart as a whip, he was just unlucky. Great TV dad.

Ed O'Neill who played Al Bundy played the character loosely based on one of his uncle's. His uncle was married and all he did was work and hate his life. So when he came home and his wife said to him "Hunny I drove over the dog with the car" and his uncle would just say "That's too bad. What's for dinner?"

The show was a reaction to all the happy family sitcoms that were a thing in America at the time, especially The Cosby Show. Most sitcoms had friendly families that loved each other and solved all problems by the end of the episode. Married....With Children was a snarky response. The family still loved each other but was crude and sarcastic.

This is not a stand up comedy, it is a sitcom series from the 1990s. I loved the show. It is called "Married With Children" >Yes You should react to more Married WIth Children! Al Bundy works a a shoe salesman. HILARIOUS!!! All of the characters are HILARIOUS and as you can hear was performed in front of a LOUD and ROWDY live Studio audience. In the UK there was also a very HILARIOUS Sitcom that was somewhat like this called "Are You Being Served" This was a sitcom or what American's call "Britcom" about sales workers working in a British department store. "Are You Being Served" was on air during the 1970s. You can check it out on KZbin! Are You Being Served had some risky sexualized raunchy humor as well or "low brow" or "common" type humor similar to "Married With Children"
