When are you going to react to “Ronald”?
@SokolRock2 ай бұрын
51:36 Tank, you're a lying piece of shit. When you made that video about Nightwish, you complained there that they were just demonetizing your reactions to them and you didn't like it. Now you're lying to Brittney to get her sympathy that they're blocking and striking reactions to their videos, even though there was no talk about it and none of the other reactors ever complained about something like that. And now Brittney and those who see this video will think that Nightwish' management is striking reaction videos, although this is a blatant lie. You know, you're just a complete asshole, and I wish life would punish you because you deserve it.

I completely missed that there was a hubbub over use of AI when the first single was released. I read the video description and noticed they actually licensed the art specifically FOR this and thought that was amazing. Tons of other artists (and genAI tools) etc. just use whatever to train their AI, which is just stealing. This was very ethical and the right way to go about it. Super cool of them to do this.

I didn't know that UTA went thru some crap about the Green & Glass video. I took the text at the beginning to be a thoughtful attribution to the artist so as to ensure the artist got proper credit. Weird that people would fly off the handle about what was supposed to be a good thing.

I love Unleash the Archers. I can't even remember when I first started listening to them. Tonight We Ride showed up on my recommended and I've loved them ever since. I joked the other day with Narwhal about being into UTA since before I found your channel. It was a screen cap of me sharing UTA's post on Facebook for Cleanse the Bloodlines releasing on April 9th 2017. I'm am beyond stoked to finally see them live!! They're coming through Cleveland at the Agora in the fall. This has been a really really great episode. While I'm sad that Brittney avoids comments these days due to how nasty some people can be; I fully understand why. I hope I will have the chance to tell her how much I love her (and all of the members') work at the show. Thanks so much for this episode to both Tank and Brittney!!

Very cool interview/discussion! 😃 I really appreciate what you said at 53:20 because it's not an obvious approach but it's so important to share and cultivate this mindset. This is exactly what I've been doing on my own channel since the beginning, and I'm happy to say most of the community seems to understand that point of view. Some will occasionally dismiss me as a fanboy, but that's to be expected. 😅 Just to add to this real quick, I think it's important to use the most accurate terms whenever possible. Because "this sucks" is not an *opinion*. "I don't like it" is an opinion. "This sucks" is passing judgement and I think that anyone who had ever worked at anything (even just trying a different way to do something at work) should avoid dismissing the work and effort of others, regardless of how they feel about it personally. Again, this was a great discussion! I've been watching your channel for a while and I find your videos very insightful and well presented. Cheers 🤜🤛 Edit: I didn't know UTA before this (despite being Canadian myself) but I just checked out a few songs and was totally blown away! 🤯 This really is the best time to be a metal fan!

It's a shame you don't have the time to do more of these, Tank, you're becoming a rather good interviewer! Awesome to see Britney here, she always seems like so much fun, and very genuine. My copy of the earbook arrived early and it's sweet. Album is great, too! The whole response to UtA's use of AI was really messed up, but there are certain people on The Twatter, I like to call them harpies, who are looking for things to get upset over. They trade in outrage. AI is a tool, and like any tool it can be used wisely and it can be abused. UtA used it wisely, but to some (very fearful) people that's inconceivable. They might as well go back to the invention of the internal combustion engine and complain about how that is put all the people who take of the horses and the wagons out of work...yeah, we've been in similar situations before, and we'll sort it out this time, too. That's what humans do, we make a mess and then we figure our way back out...and into a new mess, rinse, repeat. Sorry if I ranted a bit there, but it really irritated me seeing people be so blindly stupid and taking it out on one of my favourite bands when all they did was use AI in as ethically sound a manner as I can think of. AI is still cool! If there's anything uncool about AI, aside from how boring all the fearmongering around it is, it's the old "AI Bad" trope. I'm sick of Skynet stories. Thankfully there's lots of other great stories about AI out there, from Blade Runner to Ghost in the Shell to Ex Machina.

Hearing the part around 27:57 I'm wondering if someday we might get something like a "Lost Chapters" or "short stories" release of them with all the songs that didn't align with the feeling she had while writing the story but that are way too good to just leave them unpublished. Where they are completed disconnected from a bigger story but with their own concepts. :)

Brittney and the boys are some of the greatest people you'll ever meet. I remember seeing them for the first time in the divey-est dive bar in Baltimore MD (Sparta Inn represent!) where they had to walk through the crowd to get on stage. Brittney is definitely right about people being terminally online though. People don't consider what they're doing before they do it. People should learn to not say things they're aren't prepared to take a punch in the teeth for.

Regarding the whole going out without drinking thing, for me personally, I struggle with being in a bar around a bunch of drunk people without having at least a couple of drinks, but I think this stems back to my days working as a what we call "mingelfotograf" where I live, basically a photographer that goes out to bars and clubs and takes pictures of people who want to be featured in the local media and online. In this job I obviously spent hundreds of hours completely sober in all the local bars and clubs around people who were at every level or drunkeness from barly noticeable to absolutely shitfaced... So I just think I had enough of that back then! And I've also worked part time as a cab driver, mostly working weekend nights, which also means alot of being sober around drunk people....

When I first saw the AI used in the Green & Glass, I thought it was pretty rad, and it was obvious that other production methods were used as well. I was also concerned about the discourse was going to be around it. I hate that my fear was right, but from all negatives there comes positives, it gives a further conversation about the relationship between artists/creators, and how there is a line that should not be crossed. It also keeps the AI conversation going, there are so many questions that we need answers for in regards of AI being used by artists, and corporations, and making sure all involved are properly compensated/credited. I got into a long conversation with my daughter about AI art after we watched the video ,she is a very talented artist in her own right and I wanted to hear her overall AI art thoughts, and her thoughts being very negative towards AI specifically in regards to how the training models are taught. She understands however that it’s here to stay, and believes as I do that we need a proper discourse regarding the positives and negatives and what are the overall art community’s thoughts on what it fair to them. However that discourse needs some of these folks raging one way or another, to take a deep breath. They might actually have a good point, but putting the target of your vitriol on blast will never provide any answers…let’s be civil and talk. Oh and I love all the releases off the new album, in particular Green & Glass ❤

I absolutely agree with what Brittney is saying about the interenet and the syber bullying. I am a new mother as well and I also see that this crushed her heart and soul, and wished that the comments about them using a AI for the new album could have been more constructive instead of just hate writing. A lot of individuals are not so self aware , I am not trying to make an excuse for these folks but it is really sad and kind of depressing what our society is coming to. I fear for my own daughters future in this with also the fact that if we stop like Brittney says for a moment and think it really does only take a few moments realize would what I am saying help or will this comment destroy someone. We are humans and we are intellegent enough to know better. We should know better.

Let me try this again simpler... No one should go after anyone personally, 1000% agree with you both there. As a graphic designer who has been at it for nearly 30 years, the whole generative AI thing in design and illustration really gets under my skin. Earn the skills and do it YOURSELF! Just like everyone I work with and people like us. Yes, I was very pissed at UTA for the video. I've been following them since Demons of the AstroWaste, I thought they were our kind of people. I was shocked when that video came out. I've listened to every interview about this album and that video. The one where she said they could not afford to make the video otherwise... anger for my people. Then don't! Air guitar in the woods again, run around the track again, walk through the city again. I'll take any of their DIY videos over AI any day.

One huge negative side effect of global social media is that it provides a platform for a *minority* of angry, hateful people to appear very, very loud; and so their view point appears MUCH more prevalent than it *really* is. I am almost certain that the negative feedback Unleash The Archers received for their video is only 1% of all the people who actually watched/listened, since most folks will have silently loved it.

Unfortunately and it's not UA's fault, they released their song after a whole bunch of Within Temptation videos that were AI only. UA copped the brunt of a majority of Metal fans getting fed up with the excessive use of AI by Within Temptation and a little bit in Damnation Flame by Amaranthe. It was bad timing. Great song though. I ❤ UA and can't wait to see their set on Magenta TV at Wacken.

I’m so glad that this interview provides context to why the new album, and particularly Brittney, doesn’t sound “100%” vocally. And that truly sucks that she was rushed beyond her current capabilities, as every new mom should get all the time they need to recover from childbirth! That being said, the album is really good ( for me, after a few listens:) but this (obvious) context is truly appreciated. Brittney is an amazing singer, and amazing human being, in general. Thanks for the great interview!
