That reminds me of Bill Murray's line in the movie What About Bob, when his psychiatrist asks him about why he's getting divorced and he says, 'There are two types of people in this world: those who like Neil Diamond and those who don't.'

I am the same age as Linda and followed her whole career. I was in college,, military and graduate school during the years she was performing on TV variety shows weekly. She was mesmerizing and had voice tone and control like no other. 11 Grammys to her credit. Her voice can take you to a place you have not been before. She was very beautiful and most young men , including myself, fell in love with her. You have the same response now that we did when watching all of these shows in real time fifty years ago. This video reaction brings back powerful memories and we are brought back in time to see what we observed over fifty years ago in person...and it brings tears to our eyes as is accompanied by the flood of emotions of the experiance.....good reaction to the top female vocalist of all time ..DB

The studio version is even better and has one more whole verse. I saw her open for Neil Young in Tampa, 1973, right before she hit it Big. We were a bunch of rowdy acid freaks, we want Neil, come on, get this country chick outta here, we want some electric Cowgirl in the Sand..then she did this as her last song..accapella..you could have heard a pin drop, we all just sat there with our mouths open, amazed at that Voice.. she showed us kids something, all right. And then she sang backup with Neil...

This is my favorite song by Linda Ronstadt, there's so much emotion in her voice, to love someone from a far and they don't even know you're there, the pain in her voice is enough to bring a person to tears. In the start of her career she was in a band called 'The Stone Poneys', they had a hit with a song written by Michael Nesmith titled "Different Drum", and this is another favorite of mine, Linda's emotional vocals once again shined through the way in which only she could evoke. Thanks for this reaction guys.

Linda is different. If you name a music genre, she probably has at least one Grammy in it. She was named "Female Artist of the Decade' by the 'TicketMaster" of the time. In 1977 she earned $44M. Just her. In one year. She made the Music Industry over a quarter billion that year. She used that money as 'Fuck You' cash and started doing whatever she wanted to do despite what the Industry wanted her to do. Her fans loved her for it and she mastered everything she tried doing. It's so sad that her voice was taken from her.

I've been enjoying your reaction videos for a while now. As an old geezer that grew up to this music, and attended countless rock concerts, it's fun to watch you two guys really enjoy the songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s. I also appreciate the fact that your attention is strictly on the music, and don't pause to blab about irrelevant things. Songs are made to be heard in their entirety, it is not necessary to stop in order to show reaction, so thanks. A couple of suggestions: for a great rocker, check out the song 'Sarah Lee' by the band Foghat, and the late female singer Sandy Denny, who was with the British band Fairport Convention and also sang with Led Zeppelin on the song 'Battle of Evermore'.

Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. Her first big hit was "Different Drum" with the Stone Poneys in 1967. She has had so many hits such as "Blue Bayou", "Don't Know Much", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). It is very strange, we'll just have to keep an eye on it. I was having a look at the forecast for here in the Scottish Borders for next week, and it's winter again!
