Linda ronstadt is in the top tier of best female vocalists there’s ever been. This is from her early period before superstardom, then her voice matured and she went on later in the 70s to be the biggest female in rock and was the first ever female artist to fill stadiums and arenas, and was the highest paid female singer of the 70s. Went on to do amazing stuff in the 80s too and beyond. Her voice is for the ages. She’s one of the best!

She has 11 Grammys in different genres. Latin music, country pop. She won an Emmy for light opera on Broadway. Her back up band were the founders of the Eagles. She encouraged them to go out on their own. She is amazing. Blue Bayou is a favorite although I have many.

I am so sad that she can’t perform any longer. I loved her since childhood and miss her so much. She’s like a god to me. (Gary White wrote this song) She had hit after hit after hit, and lullabies and oh lordy check out her duet with Aaron Neville!!! “Don’t Know Much”

Linda has been a favorite of mine since I first heard of her in the 70’s. She has an amazing voice and the most perfect breath control I’ve ever seen! I saw her in concert in the late 70’s. She never needed any kind of auto tune because she has such perfect pitch. So sad that she’s no longer able to sing, but she left us with a wealth of beautiful music 😎👵🏼💜☮️

Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Blue Bayou", "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado", "When Will I Be Loved" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs. Also love her "Trio" collaborations with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris.

If you want to hear Linda Ronstadt at her very best, you need to check out one of the songs from her album "Canciones de Mi Padre" (my father's songs). Linda was of Mexican heritage on her father's side (though the name Ronstadt comes from her great grandfather who emigrated to Mexico from Germany), and she learned Mexican songs as a child. She recorded Canciones de Mi Padre in 1987. Two songs worth checking out are "La Charreada" and "La Cigarra". You will be impressed. The album was a labor of love for her.

She is one of the top 3 female vocalists I've heard in my 58 years. Power, subtlety, passion, sensitivity, feisty, fun, and always on perfect pitch. She could do country, rock, folk, and Latin music all incredibly well. She was one of the biggest female artists of the 70s and helped the Eagles on their way to fame (they were her intro band for a while) and is still the biggest selling Latin artist in the U.S. A beautiful woman with an all time beautiful voice. This song always hits hard because the words are so sad and she she sings it with such power and emotion. You will never go wrong with Linda.

No they weren't. Only two of the guys from her backing band were in the Eagles. I'm sick of hearing this garbage that her whole band just up and left her.Two of her guys mentioned to her that they were thinking of starting a band. She encouraged them to be more independent and even helped them find others to join the band. As has been said, that band became the Eagles. But as for the whole band just up and leaving her, that's ridiculous.

My uncle was friends with her brother Pete Ronstadt. Both guys were in bands and their separate groups recorded at the same studio in Tucson. My mom, her sister and brother grew up with the Ronstadts and they all went to school together. Mom was the youngest in her family and Linda was 2 years younger than mom. Mom said Linda always had those pipes when they used to sing with the guys while they were rehearsing or just messing around.

You’re just about right on that ‘take a breath’ thing. One of the top things I love about this song is that it’s like her vibrato just continues in an unending loop whether she’s singing anything or not. She’s crying. @@evanhughes1510 I'll never argue with somebody loving any version of her music, but that one isn't my favorite. We all want different things in music - to each their own and she is never anything close to bad. I had to hunt down that live version in Atlanta because I had heard from so many (one in person, and quite a few online) that it was a must-see/hear. I was blown away, and the comments reflect the high regard it is held in. On top of that, KZbin kept taking that version down for years while leaving almost ever other version up on their platform.

I love this song so much - perhaps the saddest song ever if you concentrate on the lyrics.. she had one of the best and warmest and dynamic voices ever. Started out as country Rock with the later to be ‘eagles’ as her band .. her solo career started with more country / and folk songs like this but evolved into more mainstream rock .. she was the highest grossing rock concert star for a couple of years in mid seventies! she only did cover songs, never wrote.. you commented that she felt this song and had to write it.. heard an interview where she described her super-successful ability to cover a classic song and make it her own, made a internalized personalized connection to the lyrics.. she made huge hits of classics hits by the stones, buddy holly, Smokey Robinson, Elvis Costello, Neil young, and they were always even better.. she could do any genre and went on broadway and astounded that kind of audience with her vocal talents..

There are probably only a handful of female singers who can sing this song. The way Ronstadt works with the text here, the way she breathes - or doesn't - reveals all the emotional layers of this sad ballad. You have to have immense musicality to do this, but also the ability to translate this into notes. Ronstadt is unbeatable at what she does.
