Great information,I recently purchased my late brother-in laws 57 3100, (with broken w/s of course) he purchased a new very expensive windshield but never installed it,after much searching it is unbelievable that no one knows how to install a windshield the old hands on way,the ones that say they know how want a small fortune,after months of anxiety stress and waiting and after watching your video/instructions,I feel very confident that along with a helper I can do it myself, Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.

I had a ‘62 C-10 and replaced the windshield by myself. You’re right about being in the right state of mind. Had I been in a hurry or frustrated, the installation wouldn’t have been successful. The windows on a C-10 up through a ‘63 are not cheap. Great advice to have a friend assist in the install, even though it can be done by yourself. Great series and company. I used Brothers exclusively when I was rebuilding my ‘62. Outstanding OEM (or better) quality! Thank you!

Thank you so much, this instructional video should be “set in stone” as the go to instructional video for wrap around windscreens. It’s taken me 3 failed and frustrating attempts so far before watching your video, I now know where I was going wrong, I was at the point where I was about to pay for someone else to do it! Not now, I feel confident and in the right frame of mind to do it one last time and do it right! Cheers mate.

I want to thank you for this really helpful video. I had to replace the headlining on my 1963 Humber Super Snipe series IV (an English car) and needed to remove and replace the front and rear wrap-around windscreens. I was completely lost on the front windscreen and nearly gave up in despair, as it didn’t seem to fit. I followed your instructions and managed to get it in today. Many thanks…this is the very best video and advice I’ve seen. Nice work.

60-66 are my favorite years in Chevy Trucks and I've had a few "Knee Knockers". @@adriantomlin2902 my 65 I bought in 2000 so I've had it for 20 years now. It's a C-20 long bed step side one owner farm truck and I bought it simply because it's a long stepper and the fact that it is a 3/4 ton was just a bonus. It's been a long road but everything mechanical is new now and I'm just now starting on the interior so the video on replacing the window gasket and felt came at the perfect time. After I finish the doors I'll start on the floor pan and buy some seats on Ebay with a built in shoulder harness to install when the floor is finished. It's been a long and expensive project s far and I haven't done any body work yet. I think I'll retire in February and that's when I'll start on the body. And since there isn't much rust to repair, just the usual placers like rockers and lower fenders, I should be able to give it a CLR bath after I've patched the bad spots, buff out the paint that's left and then shoot it with clear. It'll be nice to start on something else when I'm done with this one.

@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV I'd really like to see a rack and pinion install. I have power steering that I swapped from a square body (I believe 72) but I'm not happy with it so I first thought I'd buy a quick ratio gear box, which was ridiculously priced! Then I had a thought: Why not rack and pinion? There are kits readily available. My thinking always costs me money.

Worked in a body shop as gopher in the 60's and we had a glass installer come in. Best option would be to buy some cheap glass handling suction cups from Harbor Freight or something like that. Then spray some glass cleaner on the seal inside and out and try to pull it down with the handles on the cups. It might also need the rubber shifted around at the same time, good luck!

Any reason why you didn't use a bedding and glazing sealant compound between the molding and the pinchweld? Some guys do, some guys don't. It seems from the factory they use it. I'm about to install a windshield on a 1969 F100, and the windshield that's in there now has a bead all around the gasket between the outside lip and the body of the truck.

I've watched several of your vids and plan on watching probably all of them. I'm going to be ordering some of your body panels along with other products for my 69 chevy C10 conversion to a 4x4 with an LS & 4L80 swap. Over all you do a great job.. I was curious on this windshield install why you didn't have at least the edge painted before the re-instillation of the windshield? And being that LS swaps have become so popular, have you thought of offering LS swap kits? Thanks for the vids. Keep them coming..
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV 3 жыл бұрын
First, we DO offer LS Swap kits and we even did a video on a swap on a '64 we messed with last year, here's that link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5CqZ4B_md2Ygbc. Second, most of the videos we make are meant to provide our customers with support for their projects and the parts they buy from us. They are also for us to test our products for quality and fitment so we can provide the best parts and customer service if someone needs help. Our videos are not necessarily because we NEED to do that particular project on the subject vehicle. So, to answer the question of why we didn't paint the edge before re-installation, it wasn't going to be a long term repair and will likely be coming out again soon for another project so we didn't bother.
@CM-sd4gi
@CM-sd4gi 3 жыл бұрын
That was fantastic. I have a important question. often windshields will have a chrome insert in the glass rubber seal. Do you install it first before the roping in? Or do you install the chrome after wards and is there any special techniques?
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV 3 жыл бұрын
That depends on the year of the truck and if it a hard stainless trim or a flexible Chrome trim. 99% of hard stainless will be inserted into the rubber BEFORE installing the glass into the truck. Flexible Chrome trim always gets installed after the fact.

How do you package the windshields for shipment? Do most people receive them unbroken? Thanks.

We use a combination of foam, cardboard and wood. Very rarely does one get delivered broken.

do you use same process when you have chrome trim. Mine has factory trim which i will be reinstalling
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV
@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV 3 жыл бұрын
The only difference is that you'll need to get the trim installed into the rubber before you put the glass in the cab. So rubber on glass, trim in rubber, glass into cab.

I have had 2 professional glass installers trying to install the windshield on my 1959 Chev Apache pickup. I now have it all in except for the 2 bottom corners which stick out 1" each and the glass people have told me the glass is too wide. It is 58" wide, the same width as the one in a local car parts store. How do I finish it?
