Tai Chi Chuan Uno Stile di Vita

Tai Chi Chuan Uno Stile di Vita

Күн бұрын

Bruce Lee trained in TAI CHI CHUAN and it was one of his major influences on his art of Jeet Kune Do. Bruce believed that martial art at its core “means honestly expressing yourself” or as the Chinese say “Zi Ran” which means “self so, natural, spontaneous, free”.
Lee when describing Tai Chi said: “running water never grows stale.”

Tai Chi is an extremely deep and a very rewarding practice. Quite a few teachers I know of reached very high levels of spiritual, physical and martial development. My favorite story is about Professor Cheng M'an Ch'ing, who I believe was enlightened. He would occasionally feed the birds and sometimes they would stand on his open palm. They would then be unable to take off because Professor would yield to its energy... good luck fighting that guy. That said, it is not always easy to find real Tai Chi, but it is becoming more common, if you find a real teacher of it, you will know it instantly.

Wing Chun Mind Force Bruce was good and he was different, but he didn’t beat Wong Man-Jack or he never would have gone on such a frenzied chase to improve Wing Chun. Wong also published a challenge for a rematch, but Bruce wouldn’t accept. He just trained fanatically for nine years and then dropped dead. When he called Chuck Norris and asked him to be the bad guy in Way of the Dragon, Norris said, “Oh. You want to beat the world champion in a movie!” He would have been beaten very soon if people had been able to watch him fight and key in to his habits and tells. It wasn't a fight, I was in someone's flat when one of her guests got aggressive and started strangling her by the door. I used brush knee to send him across the hall, hit his head on the opposite door. All in the hips :3

I miss Bruce Lee. He is one who I would have loved to meet and befriend. Such a great man. He never would have stopped growing. His quest for self improvement would have changed the world even more than it did, had he lived a normally long life. Even his son died young, which is even more sad. I hate to add this but when I think of the greatness of Bruce, I also think of the negativity and absurdity and dishonesty of others like Steven Seagal. One guy is moving forward with positive energy and another is thriving on ego, dishonesty and immaturity. I guess I have to get over it. It's the way of humanity.

There's so much more to Tai Chi than "slow moving forms". Which most people dont know exists. There is a "combat" side to it too. WHich includes throws, strikes, leaning how to be "immoveable", how to "absorb" punches and not get hurt....etc. IF that's what you're intereted in learning. But most TC schools only teach the forms. So people assume that's all T is about. Few schols teach the "combat" side of TC.. Hard to find schools that do. Bruce Lee. He forgot to mention there is a "combat" aspect to TC as well. Did he not know that? Or did he just not bother to mention it as he was just ask t "what is that I see old people doing in parks?". Which still is kind of misleading. Gets me how they had Lee in this interview as if he was some Martial arts guru. Many times a world champion. Undefeated. Untouchable in televised and non-televised combat. A man who was in many street fights and beat them all. WITH lots of photos and film footage to proove it happened...he was none of that. Just an amazing showman. Know how to sell himself. And is why to this day in 2022 therre are MILLINS still worshipping who they believe BL was...blindly. Without looking at his background and films subjectively. He also crapped on Chinese MA. "...a classical mess".

@gtbones Bruce was talking about THE STATE of Tai Chi practice today ( 1971) ..[ in modern times ] and that it is, as he stated to Burton, " ...it is MORE of an EXERCISE for the elderly....( Nowadays ) " and Lee was correct. He was correct because Tai Chi was then in 1971 and still now in Hong Kong is a martial art used PRIMARILY by the elderly as an EXERCISE to keep the body, flowing, flexible and strong. The elderly do not use it for self defense. If you do not think Lee knew that Tai Chi Chuan is a martial art which is for self defense and can be executed with lightening speed...well, then you are very naive and foolish. He learned and practiced it with his father since a boy and later with other teachers. He was in this interview just underlining that these days it is most often used as an exercise for older people...which was correct. Lee knew all about Tai Chi and not only studied it in Hong Kong but had many books on it in his home library in California. And he had many street fights as a teen where he won and hurt people very badly. He further had fights in America ( 7 or so with witnesses ) on the streets and never lost...and in fact won easily aside from having to run and chase the retreating and terrified Wong Jak Man. Lee was a brilliant researcher, analyst, philosopher and practitioner who also was an extremely talented, hard working/training and very capable, high level street fighter.

Only some of the newer forms are slow exercise only when the neigong and martial applications are not know and taught. Older styles of Yang, Wu and even modern Chen have fast forms, explosive moves including jump kicks and in Old Yang even a spinning flying jump kick. One look at those authentic forms and you know this isn't just for the elderly in fact unless the elderly started practicing that as children they may not be able to reach the skill necessary to do those kicks correctly. Don't forget 2 person free form sparring, 2 person fast sets, and all the same martial techniques of other arts but using internal power or Jin instead of muscular force or Li. Bruce did not learn high level authentic Tai Chi Chuan. It's the shame most of the art isn't taught anymore but there are masters teaching more complete systems even online now with seminars training to complement online. Sifu Liang De Hua and Sifu Adam Mizner are two that come to mind.
