I was there for this moment, still the loudest pop I ever heard. The Allstate Arena EXPLODED once the name “Jericho” flashed up on the Titantron. It was awesome.

Loudest pop in WWF history
@quigonkenny
@quigonkenny 2 жыл бұрын
@@PigDogVideo I can think of at least two that were louder, at least judging by how loud they were on air. The Y2J fast count win over HHH on RAW that was overturned later in the night, and Mankind winning the belt over Rock after Stone Cold hit The Great One with a chair shot, on the RAW that Tony Schiavone unintentionally sent an extra 600,000 viewers to see after spoiling the finish on Nitro.

I can watch it in my head anytime. Haven't watched it in 10+ years. But, i saw it live and it definitely made an impression. Then, I saw clips of it in WWE docs for years after, til I ditched "Sports Entertainment", whatever that is, and everything WWE produces too. Ditched "Sports Entertainment" with Gay-BL and Triple HGH on top, like a shit ton of people did. Ditched the WWE produced things a year or 2 later. And damn it, I remember several raws with that countdown on it. When Y2J debuted, that clock had been largely forgotten about by me, idk about y'all. Then, it was sudden excitement because it was ending and nobody I knew could make heads or tails of what that clock ever was. And honestly, we all thought it was going to be a lame ass bummer, now termed a "swerve", bro. But then, we were all excited about it being jericho. He was over like a mofo already, larger than life personality

I remember the camera catching Jericho's smile while Rock went into his catchprase at the end of the segment, but instead of taking me out of the moment, it actually made me more invested in him. I enjoyed his work in WCW but seeing Chris's real emotions shine through in that moment made me realize that it must have felt to him that he was in a whole new world. I also believe that this, more so than any other moment, is the one that "won" the Monday Night Wars. WWE (WWF) had just told every single guy in the WCW locker room that the grass could be greener on the other side.

I think the problem was, everyone in the lockeroom viewed him as a WCW guy, and why would they want to help a WCW guy get over.He was in that Cena position, the sink or swim. Remember they were going to FIRE Cena as he wasn't clicking, then he did his little rap for Halloween Smackdown dressed like Vanilla Ice and the rest his history. Jericho just needed to have something click, and then BOOM it happened
@ManimalPatB
@ManimalPatB 5 жыл бұрын
In the beginning Cena was going to get fired, Vince didn't like him. Vince felt he wasn't getting over. Stephanie heard him freestyle backstage on day, he then did it again during the Smackdown Halloween episode and that was it. They changed his gimmick, and he had the rocket strapped to his back. Jericho had a similar issue, nobody really wanted to work with him, even Show told him it was different here. He had issues with his matches, he was clunky, nobody would really sell for him. They put him in an angle against Chyna which he loses. Vince ALMOST fired him as well. Then something clicked, they put both belts on him (after he BEAT Austin and Rock in the same night)

You trolling right now? This has been stated numerous times on this channel (Bruce even talks about Cena almost getting let go early in his career). you guys put too much stock in the "dirt sheets" and that whole scene. i've been a wrestling fan ever since I saw a Bret Hart poster on a family friends wall and asked who he was way back in 1992 and i have never once read a dirt sheet or any thing that is comparable. i have had friends at school, work, and even when i was in the military and not once had i ever heard any of them bring up anything that they read on a fucking dirt sheet/behind the scenes website. its really only people on twitter and reddit that care about all that nonsense which is just a very vocal minority of the fanbase. most fans don't know about any of that shit and don't really care, they just like to watch the shows every week.

There were a lot of problems but most of the noticeable ones (ATMs thinking cards were expired, car registrations) happened before 1/1/2000. A major payroll company had a 2K10 problem because their solution involved someone inadvertently assigning the date to a hexadecimal (base-16) rather than a decimal (base-10) entry. So 2009 was followed by the year 200A. Thankfully 1/1/2010 was on a weekend so they had time to fix it before it wreaked havoc on Monday morning.
