I've been making this cobbler for more than 40 years. I call it "Cuppa Cobbler" because you use a "cuppa" sugar, flour, and milk. It works with any sweetened canned fruit. We especially like it with blueberries, peaches, apples, pineapple, or cherries. I've never made it with sweet potatoes. I'll try it now. Thanks for the idea!

As much as I cook sweet potatoes, I completely forgot about these. This is bringing back a serious sense of nostalgia... My grandma used to make them pretty often (along with bread pudding, rice pudding, pound cake, and a bunch of other delicious desserts that I havent had since she passed in '91) These were awesome!!.. Gonna remember this for the holidays coming up. Thx

She added the liquid after putting the sweet potatoes, cinnamon, sugar, self-rising flour, and milk in the baking dish. But just to be certain, you can go back to KZbin and watch this video as many times as you want. I always mail the recipes I really like and want to keep to myself. Or copy them as the cooks demonstrate. I bet you’re will turn out just fine! Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️ Liz in Ala.

I put a tsp. of vanilla and a tsp. of lemon flavoring and lots of cinnamon in mine. It came out deliciously with the pecans covered in cinnamon sugar, on top. On top the pecans stayed crunchy. When I microwaved some the next day that softened the pecans [which I did not prefer].

I also watched you cook fried okra in an earlier video and have been cooking okra all my married life of 59 years, never ever tried to roll it in flour always used cornmeal and it always fell off. Tonight we had our first mess from the garden and I put 1 egg mixed it with my hands them put in flour and mixed it. It turned our so good and crunchy, Thank you so much for your REAL southern cooking I live in South Carolina and grew up in the country out from Walhalla, SC at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains but since 1978 have lived in Laurens, SC

I made this today. We think it's delicious. I went easy with the last additional brown sugar sprinkled onto the yams. It's really good room temp and with some whipped cream. It's a very good dessert Doesn't taste too sweet believe it or not. I used 1/2 c white sugar and 1/2 c brown. Next time I'll either use 2 whole cans of yams or just 1/2 the batter recipe for just 1 can of yams though. It turned out to be A LOT of thick layer of topping. After cooling down it absorbed every bit of the extra canned syrup. I have no real gooey sauce. It's all absorbed in the topping. I did pour the extra juicy sauce over just to cover the yams like you show and dumped the other 1/2 down the drain. Now I imagine I could have used the entire can and all the syrup after all. If I double the yams like I want, I'll use just the one and entire can of syrup and the other I'll drain the syrup. If you like tender delicious sweet potatoes, this tastes really different and very good! We don't even miss the pumpkin for one second this Thanksgiving with this great dessert. Buttery and delicious. I might have seconds tonight! ; )
