Bruce Springsteen who plays the piano is so underatted. I love also "The promise" and "Indipendence day" in piano version

Bruce was only about 22-23 when he wrote this. Just mind blowing. The end of this song immediately launches into Rosalita on the album, so it has a brief stop then kicks into a rocking tracking hence the slow down and hanging end. The crowd were excited as it doesn't get played often. Been lucky to get it, totally mesmerising.

When I saw him at MetLife in 2016 he opened with this for a show that lasted just under four hours. Full band plus a rather large string section from a local orchestra. That’s why he opened with it - he wanted the strings and didn’t want to interrupt the flow of the show bringing them out and getting set up. Not your usual opener for a band like that, especially in a stadium, but Bruce can do whatever the heck he wants in Jersey. Crowd was totally in to it.
@DevilzFan Жыл бұрын
All 3 shows at MetLife in 2016 they opened with "New York City Serenade", with the strings. This song was only played at the 3rd and final show of the run on August 30, 2016. But it was an awesome performance!

This has been top of my list of Bruce songs to see in concert. In all my 30 shows I've never gotten it. Would love to see it full band or like this. As always, top reaction David, always digging your channels and looking forward to more Bruce reactions!

I have seen about the same number of shows and I have never "Incident" either. Did you catch at the beginning that this was done by request? Which is just stunning at several levels. No Lyrics in front of him? Wow.

@@ryanwakley1640 Most people don't realize there is a teleprompter of sorts on the floor when he is on Microphone "One" Doesn't have that on the piano. Kudos to the roadie who got paper in front of him or a tablet if that indeed happened.

Very surprising reaction from you Dave. I was initially a bit annoyed seeing that you were reacting to the solo piano version. Being played as a ballad, I didn't think you'd like it. There is a great FULL BAND version I'd have wished you could have reacted to. But I loved your reaction to hearing Bruce playing piano for the first time. What pisses me off is when people say Bruce is a hack and has no talent. As you have witnessed in reacting to his performances, Bruce is basically an all rounder. He can do a little or a lot of many different things. Vocals, guitar, piano, songwriting, live performance. The Born In The USA hits have overshadowed just how talented Bruce is. The early songwriting especially is just incredible. I was surprised you gave it an 8. I thought it was going to be a 7. Awesome explanation of Bruce's dynamic use on the piano. Solid stuff as always, mate!

the original version with band is fantastic, on the piano the song becomes sad... but seeing him without a band in front of so many people makes him more human... it's strange and exciting at the same time. Great score

Im going to see Bruce on the 30th. Im super excited!!! So this song comes in the part of the performance when all of the band members leave the stage to get like a ten minute break and it's just Bruce by himself.

In regards to his piano playing ability, Bruce will often compose his songs on piano, rather than guitar. That was the case with (i believe) all, or most of the "Born to Run" album. Thanks David! 💕
@mynismo08 Жыл бұрын
Bruce Springsteen is really good on piano along with guitar. He did an interview with Howard Stern a while back and he said that he wrote all of the Born to Run album using piano. I honestly like his old stuff like this song due to how well the lyrics illustrates the story of the song.

Top 3 springsteen tune in my book. Wild & innocent is such an underrated record. Dh, as you astutely presumed, the studio version of this song is normally full band. In fact, it basically kicks off with a melodic guitar solo. This stripped down version is what i was FINALLY treated to after over a dozen springsteen shows… it was amazing

For Bruce, you have to do Ramrod (from Barcelona 2002), Mary’s Place (from Barcelona 2002), Waiting On a Sunny Day (from really any concert), New York City Serenade (from Rome 2013), Born in the U.S.A. (From Madison Square Garden 2000), (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher (From the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary), and Kitty's Back (From Perth 2014). All amazing!

Here I'm writing you and happen to be wearing my Ramones T-Shirt!!!! Gabba Gabba Hey!! You have no idea how much I adore this song! From the second album where David Sancious played the piano, he left shortly after and was replaced by the legendary "Professor" Roy Bitton for the Born to Run album. Springsteen fully admits to writing the Born to Run album on his Aunt's piano, it's why so many songs are strongly piano driven!! Great review as always and Rock ON!!!

To be honest this might be one of the best B sides of an album of all time. Only 4 songs but each one will paint a picture in your mind. And that is what great music is about more than just good guitar riffs. Not telling you to feature all these songs but do yourself a favor and listen to this entire album in your spare time. Still feature last track NYC Serenade

I didn't choose it, the requester chose this specific video and include a link to it with his request. That way I use the exact video the requester wants me to use. I require links with every request for this very reason.

@@THEDavidHeretic ahh copy, makes sense. I dig hearing your perspective on Bruce as you breakdown the musicianship of the band. What is simple to you regarding Bruce’s music, is only (pure) rock n’ roll to me. He’s simply the best! What bands / songs would you recommend to folks now, having done this a while? Any standouts? Bruce or other artists you’ve discovered?
@THEDavidHeretic Жыл бұрын
@@mickyblue1701 I would need to know the individuals tastes before I could make any recommendations. I wouldn't want to put them on the wrong path and have them regret taking my advice. For example, there's a Patreon member who asked me for help getting into Jazz. So I asked him what bands he listens to on a regular basis. The Patreon member gave me a short list of his favorite bands, and I was able to get a clearer picture of that individuals musical tastes. I was then able to suggest a few songs from a few bands that I felt would be more up that individuals alley. Turns out, that individual really dug on Steps Ahead and The Rippingtons. Now just for a minute....imagine I didn't take the prior steps, and I had just said "Check out Charlie Parker and Miles Davis." It quite possible would have ruined Jazz for that individual.
