This video is a follow on from the first WILL It Start for this old Bulldozer since it was initially retrieved from the middle of the paddock some months ago. With three tractors hopelessly bogged, it finally has an opportunity to be useful once again if we can get it running again. Thanks for watching!

Hey Bruce, when I was about 10 yrs old they straightened the road in front of our house. The hill, which was quite large, became the source of the crushed stone for the road base. A crushing plant was set up and the work began. They were using a D9 Cat for removing the overburden and then assisting the crushing operation. Every morning is hear the pony motor start up and then the big diesel. I'd sit on the edge to the hill side and watch the progress. One day the D9 operator stopped the machine and waved me over. He helped me up on the dozer and we made a couple passes moving material. 63 years later I still remember that experience well. Thanks for the great videos 😊

There's a channel on here where a contractor in the US does all his own maintenance of the various Cats he operates.(jaypaydirt) There's a vid of him driving his dads D9 when he was 12, actually working and not just playing around.

Thank you Bruce; one of the best yet. Your cameraman/person is very, very good, as is the editing. Almost pro documentary level. It is wonderful to see old machinery prove its worth and this old Cat really showed its value. The build fidelity of machines from the late 50s thru 80s was pretty high, simple but durable.

What a trooper. You're still in recovery but find the energy to go and help others. At least it was well worthwhile. Recovering three tractor rigs in one mission. All in all that must have been a full day's work. A very successful mission Bruce and being the gentleman you really are, you found the time to thank the cameraman and the farmers you were recovering for helping you. Let's face it it's not a situation where you could phone a recovery company to save the day. Don't know if you like a beer but you deserve freebies for life after this mission.

This video shows us all what “Solidarity “ and and having the wisdom and mindset of a bloke who been around & seen it all. Just having a leader who appreciates the wisdom of the right of might. And when and where to apply the appropriate tool or device?. Young people and bludgers will never appreciate the wisdom of their elders. Just because we might be slow moving, or slow talking. Doesn’t mean that we don’t know every which way to achieve a happy ending. If you’re prepared to shut-up , stop and listen, or just look at our history and working record. If it’s “Good “ it means something that’s a rarity these days “INTEGRITY “

Bruce, growing up here in Texas we had two Fiat Allis dozers, a 16B and an 11B. They were good machines and moved a Lot of dirt. I had to come back and edit this comment because it posted 20B instead of 16B. While I'm editing I'll add to my coment.. The 16B we bought out of Alaska thru an auction. When the dozer showed up, it had a complete brand new undercarriage under it including new rails and swamp pads. Apparently the auction company had a machinery service in Alaska install all the new workings and the machinery company installed it on the WRONG machine but it had already came all the way from Alaska to Texas..and we only paid $25,000 for the dozer at auction. The whole undercarriage was a bonus! I don't even think the auction fee paid for that mistake.

Bruce to the rescue… eye surgery and all. Now that we know you are really Bruce Wayne we would love to know who Robin the cameraman is ? The electrician ? Nice bit of suspense in that. Any way I am guessing the growers will be not that keen in selling a cheap Fiat Allis dozer that untill you turned up they didn’t know what they had. One awesome recovery machine. Old gear those macadamia growers are running (except for the little JD) but i guess planting and developing those farms are expensive. They may offer you a part time role keeping them all going. Would love to see the 8 going and the old Alice grader. Well done to you both in your dynamic duo roles. And Thanks 👍👍

If you have air cleaners with a lot of dry dust in them, and you start up on a damp morning, the moisture will hit the dust and in seconds the dust turns into a kind of mud that chokes off the air badly. A lot of the shire councils, block off the high speed gears on their dozers, to stop people stuffing the tracks.

Great job Bruce and team, hope the farmer bought the first round! I wonder if the dozer being flat at low revs could be low fuel pressure out of the lift pump that picks up with the revs? Or maybe got a leak on the intake and loosing boost, once you pick the revs up the turbo spools up enough to compensate. Glad the eye is healing well.

Check hydraulic oil level when the rams/ pistons are in the up position. If you look at the dipstick while the hydraulics are in the lower position, It will give you a high reading. This is because the oil has been retracted from the hydraulic cylinders and back to sump. Which will raise level you are reading on the dipstick . I learned this from a 1969 Ford 3000 diesel tractors owners manual
@TINRFD
@TINRFD 2 ай бұрын
That would be true, if these were single-acting cylinders like the one in most (older) tractors, were the hydraulic lifting arms can only lift, but not push down. The dozer has double-acting cylinders, which can push/pull in both ways. When the piston is retracted into the cylinder the piston-rod displaces oil, so there is more oil in the sump. It´s the other way around in this case.
