I first had Brunswick Stew in Newport News at the 1969 Denbigh Day celebration. They made it in a big ol' cauldron and it sure was some kinda good!

I always start out with a large "canner" stew pot. If stew is too watery or loose, add some potato flakes. This stew is best eaten with Homemade drop biscuits!
@hobonickel14 жыл бұрын
Dave, Your sauce recipe calls for 1 tbsp garlic and 1 tbsp black pepper but in the video you say 1 tsp of each. Which is correct?

Dave!! Thank you. I am going to make this. We missed you. Did they make you Partner? No more 10 min limit huh? Congrats. Well I was very pleased to see that this video had everything a Dave video should have: Italian Seasoning and plenty of affirmations that you can put whatever you want in yours! I like it Dace, keep it up. I think I'll cut back on the corn and Potatoes and replace them with Okra, Collards, and Pineapple! What do you think?
@jaybobed14 жыл бұрын
The smoke flavor is supposed to come from your smoked meat. The stew orginated from hunters that used the game they caught at the time and the veggies they had on hand. You should use different meats and veggies to see what you like best. Thanks, Dave
@dragonflychainsaw15 жыл бұрын
i think i am going to follow your recipy pretty faithfully except i am going to wait awhile to put in my potatoes so they dont turn into mush

It makes it better, as is butter's custom. I would have used a whole stick but Dave is conservative (And smarter than me) with his Butter and Sugar.

pork is done at 145 degrees, 170 for pork loin is shoe leather, I dont get why you people call it Brunswick stew, only thing different is lima beans, really cant say corn cause the Southwest uses corn in about every recipe, Would it be fair to just call it Lima Bean Stew ?
