the reason boxing has the most deaths and CTE over things like muay thai and MMA due to the fact that boxing chronically does not leave ego at the door in sparring. Hard sparring is a large part of boxing culture, I get it. But, its not necessary for improvement unless youre prepping for a fight, but in week to week sessions, it actually hinders creativity and learning ability. The point of sparring is to practice hitting and not getting hit, no one ever said you need to hit hard.
@theslavicharuspex8 ай бұрын
some fighters improve and develop skills through hard sparring, but not all of them, and certainly not amateurs, so I see your point brah
@multechpro71518 ай бұрын
You are partially right there. As someone who is practicing boxing doing light sparring will make you improve, however once you get good and you want to get even better you need to do hard sparring at some point. The reason for it is that at some point you want to test your reactions to faster punches how to avoid or parry them, unfortunately more speed = harder punches it's physics.
@bEtHeSdA_LAME_sTuDi0s8 ай бұрын
I agree. This is a pitiful display of ego that will only ensure these young boxers leave their careers over early in the gym. Pointless chest puffing nonsense. A hard spar is ok but this is a fight.
@johanneskarlsson65357 ай бұрын
There are times for harder sparring but it'll cost you. Lot's of improvement can be made and technique honed in lighter sparring. And the more explorative, playful sparring that is so useful and fun is difficult to do if you spar hard all of the time. I'm not gonna play around as a southpaw if it might cost me a concussion, yet it might be very useful, no?

Angle Shifts, Subtle switch hitting, dipping low while slipping and rolling, aggressive combinations to the body and head, amazing ability to close the distance and take away the jab! That kids the real deal man! The peekaboo style is one of the hardest and draining styles to master, but he did it all and left blue headgear guessing... Props to blue headgear though, not much he could have done other than use checkhooks while pivoting outt, turn more to get off the centreline, implement more uppercuts, post the jab out there to better manage the distance for outboxing and vary the jab between power and light jabs to make red headgear respect his power... Cant say most of this would have worked though, cos red headgear is just too crisp with that technique. Mad props to both of them.
