what I love is that this band has an absolute presence on the stage, commanding, and they are totally non-pretentious. no crazy get ups, all just in black, casual attire, but they sound more evil and better than 90% of death metal bands.

Immolation are one of the best death metal bands out there. Although ive noticed only very few metal fans know about immolation. They're known for producing a sound that isnt your run of the mill death metal sound.

for sure mate. For me that is the main reason Brutal Assault is the best festival on earth. Impeccable sound quality! (also quite small area, easy to grab food and drinks and not expensive at all). Been there on 18 and 19 edition and I can peacefully die now.

You know, I actually love watching a death metal performance stoned. Just stand back, and appreciate the sound. I went with my gf to watch Fleshgod Apocalypse at Bloodstock and she thought I was not into it as I stood there, watching, minimal reaction. It might sound odd, but headingbanging in these situations seems as distracting and irrelevant as juggling

Damn, this alone made me start appreciating Immolation more than I have in the past. They very much have a sound of their own that's ominous and dismal, that even though they have their share of blast beats doesn't rely on that to be "br00tul" or anything like. This legit sounds evil and Ross' vocals have only gotten better and better over time. Seems I have a few CDs to catch up with, I think!

Anton LaVey on lead guitar ❤ I saw these guys first in 2002 at X-Mas festivals. They shared the stage with Marduk, Six Feet Under, Hate Eternal and Dying Fetus among others if I remember correctly. They impressed me by far the most that night.

it's all coming back to me now. I once went to see a small but very underrated band in a small gig in Belgium, and after that the main event was on. A band I didn't know until then. When I saw this video and saw the ADHD-like guitarist, I suddenly remembered. It was immolation. I was front row and he almost hit me in the eye while picking.

As good as Immolation is on record, and they are amazing on record, they are absolutely the very definition of a live band. I've seen them live 5-6 times over the last 25 years and every time I forget how amazing they are until they take the stage. Some bands are good live. Some bands are great live. Immolation is a step above those 2 tiers. They will leave your jaw on the floor.
