I rushed as a transfer last year from a community college at ASU!! I cannot agree more about the houses taking more freshman over the older grades, but I was able to get a house and I absolutely love it! Don’t be discouraged if you are a transfer or older! Go through the process, trust it, and you will end up where you’re supposed to be!:)

I go to a uni that focuses on greek life but isn’t super heavy on it like southern schools, so while rush will be online, once you get your bid, there will be smaller bid day parties at the houses. i’m already a junior so honestly, rushing this semester will be fine for me, especially as it means I won’t need to put in all the extra time to look perfect and be out at the houses for an entire week all day long

As someone who just rushed on zoom rush really sucked because we got dropped by houses before ever even meeting the girls on zoom or anything. I also am a junior that just transferred in the fall and it was definitely way harder compared and the freshman/sophomores got way more houses back over it. I got 6/13 back for philanthropy, 1/6 back for sister hood-pref. Which sucked when everything else is getting back the max amount of houses they can, but even with not getting back multiple houses, i still ended up with the house I ranked 3/13 so I still needed up with a house I really loved. That being said since you can’t meet anyone’s zoom classes, joining KKG was the best decision for me because even if we don’t have a lot we can do I met so many new girls in my sorority and have been on so many lunch dates and we just had a game night and we did a bachelor night last week, so I feel like rushing was totally worth it especially if you’re having a hard time meeting people/making friends with everything online! Oh and we actually had more girls rush this year our pledge classes were apparently huge.

i missed the opportunity to ask questions, but i a really big one...obviously like you said, sororities have dues you have to pay, is there any kind of financial aid that you can sign up for when you join that helps you with the cost? it obviously varies school to school, but i’d love to rush but am worried about the cost of dues

i know my sorority doesn’t discriminate against sexual orientation. i can’t speak for every sorority, but i’ve never met anyone who’s sexual orientation came up in recruitment convos

I’m bi and came out to my chapter after initiation. Recruitment conversations are typically about your hobbies, interests, and passions. Your sexual orientation and dating life will never come up and sisters are asked to shy away from asking questions like this. After I came out, I had a lot of support in my chapter. Acceptance really depends on the culture of your college like it might not be safe to come out at a religious university. But I’m sure you’re weighing this in deciding where to apply. All depends on the university/ college sororities & fraternities governing body guidelines. (often Panhellenic ~ sorority) Personally Fall Recruitment is a much better option!!! I went thru Fall Recruitment & loved it.

Rush this semester! You will have a broader understanding of your sorority, the history, activity options, being a national convention delegate, knowing more sisters; especially, if you join a large sorority with over 100 members. & many more! I went through formal recruitment & joined my sorority as a (fall) freshman & loved every second! After university, being an alum also has tons of opportunities!
