I binged all of the Killjoy movies a few years ago. The second one was clearly a script that was not actually meant to be a Killjoy script. Killjoy doesn't even show up until like 45 minutes into it. It's the worst of the bunch. Then the third and fourth ones are actually a lot of fun. Full Moon somehow got the rights to the character and they play up the tongue in cheek-ness of it and make Killjoy more of the protagonist. He gets a trio of side-kick clowns to back him up as well. Haven't watched Psycho Circus yet.

Honestly, I wanna see you try it. Not as a challenge or anything, just to try.
@RisqueBisquet6 жыл бұрын
Haha. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I actually think there was a way to make this not terrible. Like the big question is really "why is he a damn clown?", so I'd probably dedicate some time to establishing that Micheal has some background in the occult. If you make this a known fact about his character, it could also serve as a reason for him being killed later on, out of fear and superstition from his reputation as a practitioner of magic. Also, maybe he comes from a circus family. Make him good and hated _before_ he's killed by Lorenzo. For this reason, the timing is pretty important. Why has a year passed before Killjoy goes on a revenge trip? Things should start getting weird for the gang members as soon as the curse is cast or whatever. Maybe not people getting killed outright, but _spooky unexplainable stuff_ that prompts them to go and attack and kill (accidentally or otherwise) the perceived source of magic. But by then it's TOOO LAAATE! Let's see. I get what they were going for with the whole van dimension, but it's a bit too goofy. What should be happening is surreal dream sequences where gang members are being pulled into tiny alternate realities where they're gruesomely killed, leaving behind corpses that appear to have conventional means of death, but with no apparent cause or motive. This leaves us open for Kahara to start investigating how her lover died! (while also contending with more legitimate law enforcement) Because as much as she knows Lorenzo was into some shit, something just doesn't add up! Then it becomes a horror murder mystery connecting the dots between dead gang members and uncovering Micheal's occult past. Maybe they go to his old family home and find a bunch of creepy circus stuff, maybe some equally creepy stalkerish notes about Kahara herself to establish Michael's love interest. Thinking about it, it wouldn't hurt to have her develop feelings for one of the other living gang members too, so that she stands something to lose unless the curse is lifted. Jamal will do! He was looking to get out of gang life and live clean because what they did to Michael never sat right with him. Jamal is increasingly losing touch with reality and seeing visions of clowns as the film reaches its climax. Everything culminates at Michael's secret home/magic hidey-hole and we see the evil clown in his raw most evil incarnation, along with his victims as thralls. grueling and exhausting fight scene ensues, leaving Kahara and Killjoy face to face. When she sees the clown up close, she realizes Killjoy and Michael are one and the same, and tearfully she pleads to spare the life of Jamal, in exchange for her own affections! She's transported to the evil clown dimension with Killjoy. A bitter sweet ending that leaves our primary love interest feeling lost and betrayed! Perhaps he too has learned of the dark seductive power of black magic! Just in time for the sequel! Oh, also everyone is hammered on Millers all the time. Gotta please those sponsors!

Great video, but you missed one of the best things about this movie: When Jada first goes to her friend’s apartment, her friend is like “You must listen to what this homeless man speaks about.” Then when the homeless guardian angel disappears she’s all “woah what was that all about.” Like, did the writers forget she was the one who called Jada??

Lorenzo shot him 100% on purpose. He specifically picked a revolver so that the chamber would cycle after the empty one clicked and shoot Micheal.
@Rad-Dude63andathird6 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why they need to go after Killjoy and stop him. Didn't he kinda go and do what he was sent to do? Kill some evil gangbangers? And if Micheal was in control or something, or whatever he had to do with that quota, it's the hood. Surely Killjoy could've located some more gangsters or drug dealers or hell, maybe a couple hobos or something.

Lewis Fields right? Every drug dealer I know has a gun delicately placed under a dainty throw pillow. They even have a name "throw pillow guns". They're commonly kept just on a couch and not, say, in a holster, pocket, drawer, cupboard, concealed under a table. Just all up on that couch

I think it's very interesting how the director snuck in that Paul Klee in the background (34:14). Senecio is the manifestation of Klee's sense of humor paired with the African culture. The painting was created in this way to simulate the whimsicalness of children's paintings (but at the same time it's also known as Head of Man Going Senile), so it lends itself to many interpretations. Klee's paining may be interpreted as a man behind a "mask" or costume of a harlequin (or clown). It symbolizes the tug between our real world drama and art (or illusion).

I really need to know if this film's actually like, super-steeped in 90's African-American culture. Because it feels like it sort of is? There *has* to be a reason besides "for the lulz" that some of these directorial choices were made, and I feel like some of them may be cultural.
