In Episode 3 of the Brute Showdown, we continue the battle between athletes from four different disciplines: Bodybuilder Lawrence Ballenger, Powerlifter Steve Gentilli, CrossFit Games Athlete Jacob Heppner, and Olympic Weightlifter Luis Javier Mosquera.
In this episode, the competitors complete events three, four and five:
3. Max Deadlift - Athletes have 20 minutes to find their one rep max deadlift
4. Physique Show - Competitors are graded on poses and muscle composition
5. Lucky 13 Burger Challenge - Who can finish eating the Lucky 13 Burger (foot tall burger with house-smoked bacon, ham, cheddar, swiss, caramelized onions, Lucky 13 sauce and 28 oz of fresh ground chuck) first
Watch the whole episode to find out who wins each.
If you missed episode two with events one and two, you can watch it here: www.brutestren...
Stay tuned for next week’s episode, where the athletes take on the next challenges. Coming May 16.

some people saying crossfitters have no strenght...well yeah maybe not compared to a powerlifter on the same weight, defintely not to a heavy guy like Steve
@sniff494
@sniff494 6 жыл бұрын
Aristides Junior someone who exclusively trains CrossFit will have no strength, a "CrossFit athlete" like the guy on this show will because none of them exclusively train crossfit, they all practice more conventional forms of training then do CrossFit only a few months from a competition to claim that they do it in the off-season
@aripmjr
@aripmjr 6 жыл бұрын
Sniff you're missing the point. There is strenght training in crossfit, sometimes with the traditionals like bench press, back squats and deadlifts, sometimes in Olympic Lifting. You either have no clue what crossfit is or don't know what you're talking.

Sniff, follow Heppner on Instagram. He trains crossfit only, daily, yeararound. He's not exceptionally strong for a pro CF athlete. Top of the deadlift ladder at the 2016 games was 615 FWIW.

Guys, for next time, consider adopting a points system like they have for the decathalon in track and field, and give points based on how close they get to the world record in an event (rather than how they place). This way, for someone like Steve, he would get a more fair amount of points for his incredible deadlift. Just a thought!! Loving the show =)
@ah7027
@ah7027 6 жыл бұрын
The Path Less Traveled I agree the points system would be a nice touch. But making all the athletes the same size would have helped. A heavy weight power lifter versus a light weight weightlifter. Guys got 100 lbs on him probably lol.
@Derploop
@Derploop 6 жыл бұрын
The Path Less Traveled but if you did that you'd need to implement weight classes and that would really offset his advantage given he's 400 pounds-ish off the WR and the tiny Olympic lifter would probably be about the same amount of weight off, or less
@itsryanwilkes
@itsryanwilkes 6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Harrison and Derploop, ahh yes I agree with both of you guys. Good point. But don't you think that their different skill sets already provide enough variation in performance across the events? In episode 1, the powerlifter didn't do well in any events, despite his amazing strength. But you are right that their would be a disparity between the amount of points that he would get in the deadlift, vs the amount of points that the Olympic lifter would get for winning the clean, because the oly lifter is in one of the lower weight classes of the olympics. So even though he destroyed everyone here, he is not close to the world record of the 120kg+ world record. Complicated stuff haha!

Considering the weightlifter weighs half of the powerlifter( at a BW of 69kg) his relative strength is pretty amazing.

The Olympic lifter proved very capable with his 69 kilos of body weight against so much muscle. Just imagine the difference that an Olympic weightlifter would get from the same body weight as the others and also be world class to be close to the records. It is very noticeable difference of the performance that an Olympic athlete reaches against those who are not.

Even without knowing, you could pick out who the bodybuilder was in the opening 2 seconds of the posedown. Moved his body with grace, confidence & was smiling. Your eyes get drawn right to him because of this. I don't know anything about bodybuilding, but I've seen a lot of dance auditions ... I'm also not a dancer, but you can easily pick out who knows what they're doing by the look on their face most of the time. Same thing here. I mean, his body is also amazing, that goes without saying - but it wasn't just the size/shape of his body that made him immediately better at the posedown.
