Cocoa powder is high in oxalate which are crystalline structures that tear open tissues on a microscopic level. This is one method the cacao plant uses to prevent predation

Why you should not eat chocolate every day!! Excellent comment!
@Koalaparks66786 ай бұрын
Yeah but most likely to harm you food is definitely not raw cocoa or spinach. And spinach is high in oxalate too. If your body can break down oxalate it’s not a large concern compared to high amounts of sugar etc. however. I went on his website and he’s selling cacao powder for 40$ a bag, so maybe he’s exaggerating the benefits of cacao vs the risk.

Yeah this is a major negative for anybody who already has or is prone to kidney stones. Can offset this by using milk chocolate since the calcium in the milk will bind a lot of the oxalate and make it non-absorbable.

One serving is about 40 mg of oxalates and typically people can handle 200 mg per day according to ai. Also pairing with milk reduces oxalate absorption. I just read Toxic superfoods so this comment interested me 😊

Chocolate is highly addictive and causes a similar dopamine spike above baseline similar to nicotine. Just because something has some nutrition on paper doesnt mean it should be consumed regualry or consumed at all for that matter. Eating whole nutritious foods is all you need, no need to complicate it and careful who you get your info from.

Would you agree this video as a whole taps into a primitive fantasy as well? A brilliant marketing scheme
@nevin86047 ай бұрын
Who cares if it's addictive, if it's healthy and we can manage it. There shouldn't be a problem.

Sugar is addictive while Chocolate is not. Have 95% and 99% dark chocolate. They will be sweet only if you quit sugar. Otherwise, it will taste bitter because your sensitivity to sugar is very low

0:16 he's got a perma bloat like me. Why do men have these waists compared with the snatched waist of women and younger men? Is it abdominal muscle mass or does the gut itself simply get bigger?
@GenkiSugiru6 ай бұрын
I'm very strict about what I eat and mostly vegan. I eat 72% dark chocolate (Made in France) a few times per week. It is processed and contains some sweetener, but is much better than most store-bought chocolate. The final scene in this video showing him trying to snort lines of cocoa powder was hilarious. Bryan has a great sense of humor and is very relatable.

I don't think we can consider chocolate a healthy food simply by reducing the level of lead and cadmium because theobromine,Nickel,oxalates and caffeine are still theres and in very high ammounts

Gateway drug.
@DCT88867 ай бұрын
Caffeine is very toxic and actually ages you faster.
@darealrulezbreaker94937 ай бұрын
Brown rice and bulgur are also high in oxalates yet are considered healthy... Caffeine can also be good in the right amounts, plenty of studies on that. Idk about thebromine and nickel tho, i don't know much about these two.
@hazb80267 ай бұрын
Caffeine is heavily studied. Good for you in small amounts
