The Switch really is the perfect console for an F-Zero revival. Think about it, we had F-Zero X on the N64, GX on the Gamecube, AX in arcades...now we need F-Zero NX on the console formerly known as the NX. Even if we don't get a new game, I'd still love to see an HD remake of GX.

Here's some trivia: this actually isn't the original version of _BS F-Zero Grand Prix 2._ This version was a downloadable "practice" version for offline play while St. GiGa was doing the weekly league play. Unfortunately, there's no significant footage of the broadcast, unlike with _BS F-Zero Grand Prix_ - which, incidentally, had a new planet (Forest), compared to _F-Zero._

I believe Nintendo was asked in an interview, I think maybe 2 years ago if they had any plans for the F-Zero franchise and they gave a pretty vague answer, it was something in the line of if the fans wanted it, then they'd consider doing it. We really do need to have a new official F-Zero game on the Switch. One with Drifting and other modern takes on the racing genre. I believe the last F-Zero was F-Zero Climax on GBA. It allowed you to build your own tracks. I really miss this franchise.

I think they're missing a thing there. This is a romhack version where the original SNES sequenced music was imported but there are videos aroudn youtube showing that the actual japanese broadcast back in time had streamed higher quality music as well as a commentator narrating things during the broadcast.

It's pretty similar, but it's just like more levels. I like this description. More like a DLC pack than a sequel. But that's pretty standard for the BS releases. Officially released ROM hacks, in a way.

I saw some relatively modern game a while ago for the Nintendo Switch that was called "Fast RMX"; it was released in 2017, and it basically seems like a modern version of the F-Zero games. The speed is really fast, and the music is awesome.

That "shortcut" in Mute City IV isn't a shortcut at all, nor is it hard to do. It's part of the track, you just turn to the right and get back on the track.

While you had to be there when the game was being broadcast, it was possible to save these games to memory cards you inserted into the BS system to play them at a later date as well. That's how they're getting dumped as roms these days, People are coming across such memory cards and extracting the data from them. Unfortunately a lot of the games are still undumped.

The game breaking move in Double Dragon 3 that I know of is the regular jump kick. James is talking about the spinning kick which is like he said just too unreliable.

F-Zero is great but... Try someday another racing game already. WipeOut (PS1, Saturn, N64, PS2, PS4), Quantum Redshift (Xbox), OutRunners (Genesis), Street Racer (Genesis, SNES), Top Gear 3000 (SNES). Heck, even F-Zero X (N64) would be better choice than original F-Zero next time. Some racing games have unique features. Top Gear 3000 has cooperative campaign and 4-player split-screen versus mode. Rock'n'Roll Racing is a vehicilar combat racer from Blizzard with licensed rock music - it's a blast for two players. And WipeOut for PS4 just awesome
