Love theme from Ron Howard's "SPLASH", the romantic comedy that took the box-office by surprise in 1984, starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. "Love came for me" was composed by Lee Holdridge, and written by Will Jennings.

I'm going to confess something that, for some reason, this movie did to me back then when I was about 10 or 11 years old. Ever since I saw this movie for the first time, I used to have these incredibly vivid dreams about me swimming in some huge body of water whether it be the ocean or in some man-made enclosed area full of beautiful light blue water. I dreamt of swimming as deep as I could to try to go to another type of world and just escape the world I was in. And in the dream, I was able to breathe under water as if I were breathing plain oxygen........ except that could feel the water pouring into my lungs and I wouldn't even drown or anything. Then, I would try to swim as deep as I could and naturally the deeper I swam, the darker it got but that only gave me the thought that I was getting closer and closer to the supposive other world. And here's the weirdest thing.............. while I was dreaming of all this, the song that I heard in the dream was Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper........ especially the begining part of the song which obviously has nothing to do with this movie. Maybe that song was being played by a radio that I must have been sleeping next to. So, for many years, I would always relate the beginning of that song with the dreams I had of swimming and breathing under water all because of this movie......

@electron7659 Thank you for sharing! I know that may have taken some courage to express. I hope in some way that you were being told that no matter how difficult life got, no matter how deep the waters became. God would be with you time after time. Even if you have never believed and have had reservations about what a relationship with him should be like. He still has been there and never left your side. Trust me, if you are here responding to a video from our childhood. You have purpose, you have a reason for being here, and I hope you will surrender to the will of God for your life so he can direct you to your calling in him. I can only imagine it would be something super spectacular based on that dream. I hope this has encouraged you because that was my only intention🙏😊💓

But my main goal in this life is just to be with God. God is first priority always.......

Wow! That is amazing and beautiful as well. I will be honest with you. I know this song was in my head because he has been telling me, Love has found me. Sometimes, life can bury us alive and you feel so overwhelmed by it. He will throw you an anchor, reminding you that he is aware and here for us. I am 42 years of age, recently divorced, and starting my entire life over. All that I have known is now a thing of the past. After 19 years, I am in uncharted territory, deeper waters, and the only familiar face I can barely see is God. I am afraid, but I have to trust that if he guided me this far. The next half of my life will be better than the first. Heaven is our home if we believe. But life on earth can get better if we allow him to make it better.

John Candy never did hateful comedy or roles, even the adult ones he still had a heart of gold that outshined the rest of the cast. Other comedians turned dark after being kid friendly, like Jim Carrey going from Love Bites and Earth Girls are Easy to The Cable Guy and Me, Myself and Irene and even my favorite Robin Williams turned to dark comedy with the more serious roles like Father of The Year. If you liked Splash, I recommend you try watching 'I am Dragon', it is a foreign film with subtitles or dubbed, but it is really beautiful and also an innocent love story. You can find it on Amazon and there is a version here on youtube currently. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpqrqaFve5d3etk

It is incredibly romantic but also gentle and innocent. I doubt this film could be made in today's modern world where everyone seems to have given up and become cynical and gloomy. On a broader spectrum this movie showed me that it is the people you will encounter and care for in your life that will matter most. Not things - people. As sung by Eden Abetz in Nature Boy, '...the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.' He was one wise man even if a nomadic hippie.

This movie was so amazing. And the scenes of NYC are timeless-the 80's were such a fantastic time to grow up-the music, and the energy is something I look for in new folks I meet. Sadly that passion is no where to be found anymore, just remnants that we all still hold on to.

@@ShadowDranzer How so? If you think the film is sexist, go watch “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. At least Madison doesn’t scream and whine all the time (she actually shuts up once in a while), unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison isn’t a damsel in distress (if anything she saves Allen multiple times from drowning), unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison actually contributes to the plot, unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison is resourceful (teaching herself English from watching TV and trading her necklace in exchange for the Mermaid water fountain because she isn’t carrying any money in her pocket), unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison is comfortable with her nude body and sexuality, unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison actually defeats the bad guys at the end (she fends herself from military scuba divers by removing their masks and hitting them with her fish tail), unlike Willie Scott. At least “Splash” ended with *Allen* giving up everything (his family, his friends, his home, his job, and presumably his own species) in order to be with Madison under the sea; I mean, that’s pretty rare for a romantic comedy to have the GUY give up everything to be with his female love interest (usually, it’s always about women who give up everything to be with the guy they love).

This is one of my favorite movies. Madison waited years to kiss Allan and she did just that. At the end of the movie I thought they would be just swimming around the ocean but then I saw this huge CITY. I said WHOA! I was not prepared for that. I said Allan will be just fine.

She didn't have to wait years

Really ? it has some very misoyginistic and sexist themes throughout.
@beethovensfidelio3 жыл бұрын
@@ShadowDranzer Ironic since the movie ends with Allen giving up his family, friends, career, home, and even species to be with Madison under the sea. That’s pretty progressive and rare for a romantic comedy, since it’s usually the WOMAN who changes herself and gives up everything for a guy she’s just met *cough* Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” *cough* . Heck, it’s even rarer in a romantic comedy to have a male protagonist want the things that are typical for rom-com heroines like *romance, marriage, and having kids.* In “Splash”, Allen says *”I..I just wanna meet a woman. I wanna meet a woman. And I wanna fall in love. And I wanna get married. And I wanna have a kid. And I wanna go see him play a tooth in the school play. It’s not much.”* : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHaaXnqtg9Ktp7sm3s

I love this show! Especially when they're standing at the mermaid fountain, and her hair is blowing in slow motion.

I have adored this song upon hearing it in the movie 37 years ago and went to tremendous lengths back all those years ago to find a recording of it. I still adore it today but when I have played it around other people and they ALL hate it. How can one song connect with so few a people but for them so deeply whilst others (the vast majority) can't connect with it at all? You have great taste and can obviously feel the beauty in this so romantic melodic song. I admit to copy and pasting parts of this but I can add on also that the movie moved me greatly too. Although a comedy I think for huge romantics it's appeal was due to the delightful chemistry between the two leads. The innocence of Madison's character was so sweet and touching.

This song and Maureen McGovern's "Can you read my mind?" from Superman are my two favorite movie love songs from two of my favorite movies, while Roger Williams' "Alfie" and Lionel Richie and Diano Ross' "Endless Love" are my two favorite love songs from utterly detestible movies. Haven't heard any new movie love songs in decades that come even close.

The mystery of LIFE and of LOVE can sometimes be so hard to fathom. But again, I still want to believe that in our second life, we will be free again to LOVE and LOVE whoever we want to love without having to hurt anybody or somebody.
