Couldn't find any info on this type of BSR turntable on youtube of how to adjust where the tone arm automatically sets down so through trial and error I discovered how to do it and will show you where the screw is and demonstrate that it now works perfectly with it's new changer spindle and 45 adapter.

I used to love watching the record spins as the music would play, I would get a kick out of that.

Brilliant! My BSR with the wide plastic tone arm stopped picking up at the end of a record. Found the little screw under the tone arm. Hint with this one - move the screw in the direction that you want the tone arm to move. I.e. screw it in if you want it to get closer to the record centre. Out if you want it to come away from the centre - pick up earlier. You can also screw it all the way in and note where the tone arm parks when you force it to return home - it will probably land on the inside of the stand - then work the screw out a 1/4 turn at a time. Without your hint I would not have know that. BTW don't turn the wrong screw - it's not the one that goes all the way through the base of the tone arm!

Wondering if you could help me. I have a BSR which I cleaned up real good but the lever to select Stop is stuck and I can’t figure it out. Any ideas how I can get back to go from Auto to Stop? Thank you

Unless the lever is stuck from hardened grease under the plinth, I'm not sure. If it is just hardened grease under there, you can dissolve it with about any solvent. I like using lacquer thinner myself. Once it's dissolved you can then re-lubricate it with fresh grease like white lithium or sewing machine grease and it should then work smoothly. The plinth (The part the platter sits on) should just lift out of the case so you can turn it over to see what state the lubrication is in. Hope that helps.

Hello, I also have a BSR MA65 and I’m having trouble finding a needle for it. What’s the name of the needle that you bought for yours?

The needle, or stylus was a new old stock 0.7 mil Pickering DAT2 I picked up from Voice Of Music, but I think it's part number on their site was 605-D7C. I also picked up a new larger 3 mil stylus to play vintage shellac 78rpm records for it and it's part number on their site is 605-D3. Hope that helps. Also, here's the page they are on on VOM's website if it helps. thevoiceofmusic.com/catalog/part_detail.asp?PNumberBase=605&SearchType=MfgNameNeedles&MfgName=Pickering&Categories=

Do you know how to adjust the RPM? Mine is on a HMV 2025 and it's playing slightly too fast. Cheers

No, not really. Short of measuring the diameter of your idler wheel and then ordering one slightly larger would be about the only way I'd know of. There's a website called VoiceOfMusic.com and the guy that runs it sells new idler wheels or can conversely rebuild your original one to factory specs. You can also email him questions and I bet if anyone would know it would be him. Hope you can find the answer you're looking for.

I doubt it but I guess anything is possible. I tried looking him up on Facebook and apparently he's in Texas now...or was May 25th according to his last post. He may still have copies of the 45, but I really have no idea as we got our copy in about 1982.

Nice and informative Gary. Is it the same on all records or is that just for 45's? If you stacked a couple of 33 albums on there would it edge detect those too?

It should as there is only the one adjustment screw and beforehand the tone arm missed each record by about an eighth of an inch no matter whether it was a 7", 10" or 12" record. I'll try it out on the 10's and 12's just to make sure though.

Like lots of other sites you have to create a profile with your information on it for their site so that you can log in as a customer. I'm pretty sure when I used them I paid from my Paypal account. If you are having trouble you most likely can call or email the owner, his name is Gary. His email for the site is info@thevoiceofmusic.com and the phone number for them is (248) 478-0990 It say's their telephone hours are from 10AM to 7PM Monday through Friday and 11AM till 2PM on Saturday Eastern Time. Hope that helps.

Thanks Ron! I forgot I had the loudness button pressed on the thing when I played the record so on the video it sounds as if there's too much bass. Putting the speakers on those tripod stands I ordered should help to fix that...get them away from each other and up closer to ear level :)

It was a bit of trial and error. The first screw I tried was to the right of that one at the back of the tone arm and I couldn't tell it did anything except loosen, so I tightened it back to where it was before. The first quarter turn I made on the correct screw was the wrong direction so the tone arm went out even further, so 3/4 of a turn in the opposite direction did the job :)

Greetings Mr. Rebel9668! Great video sir! I'm having an issue with my BSR C129 Automatic Record Changer Turntable Tonearm going the opposite direction instead of going in the right direction? I found the same similar exact adjustable counter clockwise going left of the tonearm? I recently bought some 100% Synthetic Oil for the BSR Turntables off of eBay and got it today! I cleaned under beneath the unit with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol with the Plastic Black Star and then appiled 2 tiny drops of Synthetic Olil? When you received this comment please reply? When you get a chance? Keep up the good work sir! Take Care, Phil

So, you're saying the tonearm travels to far in when the record drops or not far enough? Either way, you can adjust that screw in or out depending which it does. Give the screw a quarter turn one direction and it that is the wrong way then give it a half turn in the other direction. If that doesn't bring it close enough, try another quarter turn in the same direction. There really isn't any exact amount to turn the screw, you just have to turn it until you get the result your after. Congrats on the oil. I didn't even know they made bsr specific oil, lol. I just used a couple of drops of singer sewing machine oil on mine. Take care, Gary

@@Rebel9668 Thanks Gary. I appreciate the reply. I'll be sure to take your advice and try that technique out. I'll give the link the Synthetic Oil 100% for the BSR Turntables bearings on eBay. I got mine from this seller. @@cool4rocknroll Thanks, Phil! I cleaned mine out with syringe alcohol as well. The rpm lever was frozen on it when I got it and the singles spindle was very difficult to remove until I applied heat to it. Fortunately my bsr is old enough to have a metal platter and gears (made in 1968) so applying heat wasn't a worry. Take care, Gary
