I watched SO many of Iversons games with my dad on the old Comcast Sports Net channel on TV here in PA. Iverson was so good. Besides Michael, hes the best finisher at the rim ive ever seen as a guard. I used to love watching him use the glass on his dribble drives. He seemed to know EVERY angle off the backboard. Beautiful to watch.

18:15 Hearing Chick Hearn brings back a lot of memories. I remember the first game I saw Iverson play against the Lakers at the Forum. He had so much praise for Iverson even before he did anything that game. While Chick was one of the most unbiased commentators, it says a lot how much he praised Iverson. I remember saying something along the lines of "Better watch out for this kid. He's really something." He was already in the process of growing his hair out, and had a little baby fro. He and Van Exel (two of my top 3 favorite players.. Kobe being the other) went at it that game. One of the things that people don't realize about Iverson was his conditioning. It's like he never got tired. Which is also pretty crazy considering what some of the players in this video were saying how much he partied. And if I remember correctly, in high school when he played football, he never sat. He played QB and running back on offense, safety/linebacker/defensive back on defense, and kick/punt returner on special teams. That's some crazy conditioning. For those of us who saw AI in his prime, dude was going full speed almost all game long. Non-stop energy.

The little Killer was a gift that came to Georgetown Hoyas and the NBA. His will power and determination to always feel that he makes the difference at any point in a game is what set him apart from the rest. Because of this mentality he was able to unlock and showcase his talents against every other player. He didn’t leave it on the court, he stood his ground on the bench, interviews and out in public. His fame never got bigger than him. When you think of AI, players like MJ, Kobe , Shaq , Duncan, etc are floating around in the back of your head…. But none of them played his position or was his size … I think that should tell you enough of what you need to know about the guy.

Allen was the single most biggest threat to any teams defense than any other player in NBA history. Even as a young Allen, his mark had already been felt by the league. Watch his impact specifically the game he crossed up MJ. That specific play, they played a 1-2-2 zone, poorly disguised, yet it limited Allen movement. Mind you, Chicago hand a major defense machine in the surrounding players and they schemed to stop him.

Certain styles, such as Iverson's ball control and penetrative ability, thrive depending on the opposing styles of defense. Or they suffer if long range shooting is the effective style, etc. HOWEVER, There are certain characteristics that will universally dominate, no matter the style of play that is currently en vogue. For example" MJ's relentless competitive drive and determination Bird's intelligence and ability to know what's happening on the floor at all times Kareem's indefensible skyhook THOSE players would dominate today and forever. That's why they're on everyone's Top 5 or Top 10 lists. Don't believe me? Ask the players.
