If you want to dive into the Bangtan Universe, you should watch bookish theory guide, watch them in the order of the videos you’ll see throughout the trilogy. The MVs and songs have NOTHING to do with each other for the forceable future, just so you know 😭 Its a whole different storyline that still intertwines not with just the trilogy concept but the definition of HYYH itself and the meaning each member gives it.

The disconnect is intentional. In a nutshell, what we see on the surface, and what's really going on with a person, rarely match up. Notice how they're happy when they hang out. But on their own, facing issues that aren't talked about.

there is NOTHING more complicated than the BU. there are whole theory channels! & even the experts are like "i _think_" bc it's not just all of the MVs that set the arc but notes that come with the albums & alt versions of MVs and VCRs at concerts. it's crazy!

Ooooof, you aren't ready to deep dive into the Bangtan Universe (BU) this is the beginning of the BU (and just another reason why this already incredible album series is so beloved) The BU is laced in certain (not all) music videos, their webtoon/comic, a mobile game had BU lore, and the albums beginning with HYYH had small booklets in them called notes that were essentially journal entries from the members during different fictional time periods in the BU, and eventually even 2 books called The Notes 1 and The Notes 2. None of the books are in a chronological order and skip different year periods, so it's really a matter of gathering all the notes and clues and putting the puzzle pieces in order. There is a tv drama called Begins Youth based on this BU that came out either last year or the year before, it wasn't widely available because of how it was distributed, but ARMY have uploaded it for others to watch. I need to catch up on it since I think I only got through the first 3 episodes.

your analysis of the MV is hilarious and I like to believe there is a universe where that is the actual story but this is the beginning of the BU (bangtan universe) which includes MV and a lot of other content (and even a really good kdrama now) to form a cohesive story where each bts member is a character who has their own story that has nothing to do with the members real lives. it's a rabbit hole that i haven't dived in fully either. the song is actually supposed to be a friend so it's like 'i need you friend' but they said that it sounded better with girl so it's more about asking for help from a friend. it deals with mental health in general and hardships that youth struggles with and it opens the albums about those same topics. it is one of their first successful songs thay won them their first korean music show which allowed them to keep going. they've said before that if this song had been a flop, they would probably not have continued as a group because the previous album was not successful in korea and they barely had any investment. but it worked and here we are

This year is the 10 year anniversary of the HYYH part 1 album, just in time for BTS's post military discharge reunion and they have been qorking on something to commemorate it, can't wait. This is one of my favorite eras, great music and the start if the BU.

A BTS history fun fact that is not so fun this was the time when bighit was so close to bankruptcy that if this album hadn't done well this would have been the last album for BTS like for example they filmed this MV using the staff's cars and the people who were hitting jungkook were their managers, and about the story behind the MV this and a prologue released before it are the start of what is now known as the bangtan universe or the BU which is another complete rabbit whole on its own it included MVs short films the VCRs during their concerts the NOTEs booklet that would come in the albums then later we had the novels, a webtoon and a mobile game and I believe the last thing we got was a series, they recently mentioned that they wanted to do somthing for this eras 10th anniversary but we don't have anymore info about that

The song has nothing to do with the video. The video is part of the BTS storyline that starts from this video. Any official video marked BU will be part of the storyline.

this is really deep to dive but it's amazing story .they have all mv to connect to their story line.for me..i watch all the content related to this Bangtan Universe .the latest is kdrama.bookish theory & Xceleste channel have the video explanation .BTS have many rabbit hole to dive.You don't even finish the Rise of Bangtan & america hustle life yet...😆😆.

Sadly if we explain whats up with the pills it would be a spoiler for the BU, idk if you plan on deciphering that rabbit hole. I can tell you if youre not. I will just say it has to do with a medical diagnosis ... 🙂

Hu Jurn! Welcome into the BU! There is a lot of content to watch/read several time to grasp the storyline (so there is explanation videos) The psychological line is less complicated to understand. Enjoy the ride ^^

The lyrics is “I need you GIRL”, but it’s not about a girl. It’s about a friend. They used “girl” because it sounds better. So the concept (if we don’t take the BU into consideration) is either everyone needs a friend to be there for u. Or I see it as, u can be in a group of friends having fun, but you don’t really know the shadows or darkness or traumas that people face when they’re alone After getting into the bts fandom, it really pains me to see the boys in pain (even tho it’s just acting). They do it so well and I know the music comes from them, so the emotions are authentic and coming from inside them. 💔

Yup, you're spot on. The members have said that they used "girl" because it was more catchy and it flowed better, but it was supposed to be friend or close special person(s). I cant remember where the members said this exactly, but they also said that I Need U and Run were basically two sides of the same coin. That the two tracks and their MVs play off of each other - with one being the sad moments amidst happiness and the happy moments amidst the sadness. That's not their exact words so pls don't quote me lolol but i vividly remember them saying something in that vein about the two songs. (I'mma try to look it up and see if i can find the where and what they said, because i was obsessed during my diehard BU luvr era but its been some years😭😭)

Ok so this is the introduction into the BU (bangtan universe), the MV and song are not connected and it is the first BTS video without choreography. The story of the BU is very complicated and runs through many years, music videos, webtoons, notes, and a lot of stuff. For now you need to know that I Need You is one of their most iconic songs, it is the song that got them their first music show win, the song that got them their first false accusations of chart manipulation. Bighit was on its last breath, the extras attacking JK in the MV were their managers, the cars used for the MV were their personal cars, suga has said on multiple occasions that this was the last shot they had, their previous "dark & wild" album hadn't sold that well and they were on the verge of bankrupcy. The members had even been told to leave their dorm bc the company couldn't pay for it anymore, some of the members refused to leave bc they also didnt have anywhere else to go, bighit got a last investment from the bank and BTS made history with one of their most iconic eras that saved the company and the group from disbanding, the HYYH era (aka The Most Beautiful Moment In Life) which turns 10 years this year and they have plans to celebrate it with a project once they are out of the military.
