Your analysis is spot on. Jin suffered from imposter syndrome. He never had dreams of music. He felt he was never or will never be as good as the other six flowers. He never sang or danced before BTS. And he struggled to, in his eyes, become as good as the others (maybe I can’t touch the sky). But he will try and will always work hard. You are so good at critically analyzing lyrics. You are correct. The song is related to his role in the BTS fictional story line, but it also is a reflection of what he believed his position was or is in BTS. I do not know if this is still his belief, but as someone who was chosen for his looks, had to learn to dance and sing from 0, he works hard to be equal to the members. He felt/feels he is the least musically talented member. So he just learned to accept himself and do his best. He has spoken about this in numerous interviews. Wings is BTS' OPUS, in my opinion. This album has so much conceptual complexity and draws from literature, philosophy, mythology, religion, sociology, psychology. Its an artistic statement in every aspect.

@@susanware1988 my daughter is a debut army & tried to get me to listen to BTS for years but I had preconceived idea of kpop so I didn’t give it a chance. Not until she posted a video to her instagram dancing to BWL in April of 2019 & I was like oh who’s that? I could’ve been there the whole time😭

Jin joined BTS with no experience singing or dancing. He had no dream of becoming a singer like the other members. He initially wanted to be an actor. But seeing how passionate the other members were and despite their struggles, the other members kept fighting and I think that really rubbed off on Jin. He might not have started off with big dreams of doing music (he might not fly like the other petals) but something sparked in him and he fought along side the other members for all these years. I forgot where he said this, but he did say something along the lines of “f the haters, f the company, let’s do it for us and do it for the fans”. He keeps saying he’s more aloof and he can go for days of just gaming and not even eating…but this guy has been putting in the work since the minute he got discharged from military. Their work ethic is absolutely crazy and commendable. Happy to see you appreciate Jin. Thought you would gravitate towards the rap line. All the members bring a special element to the group. Excited for Jin’s new album dropping the end of this week. As expected, it’ll probably be totally different from the albums from the other members. Crazy how they’re all so different but are in the same group

I cried when I saw Jin belted Awake during The WINGS Tour in Bangkok. It was my very 1st BTS concert, every member was awesome but something about Jin's voice that night touched my heart. It was devastatingly beautiful but so painful & still haunted me even now. Back then, I thought he struggled adjusting to being a singer in a group as he didn't aim to be one before. But I'm so glad Jin pushed through and stayed with his brothers.

So both the Epiphany and Awake videos that you watched serve as teasers to the BTS album that they are released with. BTS have a very unique album structure and roll out where the members have solo songs within group albums, and sometimes one of the solo songs is chosen as a sort of preview to the album before the album is released. In the case of the Wings album though, all the members had a teaser video released through short films. The short films were just teasers for the actual songs, so you haven't heard the full studio version of Awake yet, so when you get a chance, please do. The vocal layering paired with the instrumentation is gorgeous, and I know you'll appreciate it a lot. Same for Epiphany as well. The Wings album is also an intergral part of a wider overarching storyline that plays across BTS's discography over the years that's why you didn't completely know what was happening in the Awake (and Epiphany) videos. But you picked up on so much and are so right about the 6 petals/flowers and the wings imagery. It's really impressive. I really appreciate how you take the time to parse out BTS's art. You really catch so much more than the average reactor, or really any person does on just the first go round. Thank you for taking the time to delve in and appreciate BTS's art! And Jin really shines on the emotional, ballad songs, so a majority of his solo discography is along that vein, but if you wanna shake things up, you can go with Super Tuna! The Astronaut too. His new album is out very soon too, so maybe you can just wait for that.

18:44 yeah the 6 flowers are the other members! its a song about his insecurity that he wasnt on par with the others as a performer but also about his determination to keep going and keep growing. this is much earlier in their career (2016) and was the first time they did solo songs for a bts album, and also for context on his insecurity he's the member that had the least experience with singing and dancing, music in general, before he joined bts. he was actually a film student and was scouted because of his looks but he stuck with the group. (which is INSANE levels of hidden talent, given how crazy good of a singer he is)

The curious fact about Jin is that due to his good looks he was “discovered” by a Big Hit agent while waiting for the bus to go to university. He studied Art and Acting, he was not a singer so he began to train his voice until he was 19-20 years old. He was very dedicated and disciplined during those early years (in addition to his obvious talent his voice is beautiful) as he considered that he should be at the level of his brothers in terms of vocal quality. One of his nicknames is “Silver Voice”

It is so heartwarming to see how you are able to fully appreciate Jin’s masterful vocals, ability, and theatrical prowess through his music. Once again, Jin tugs at your heart strings with his songs. You definitely need to listen to Super Tuna. You won't believe they're from the same person. That's all I'll say for now 😂😂. New to the boys' music from watching RunBTS, it always baffled me how the most hilarious, light-hearted member of the group had the most gut wrenching songs. I'm so glad his new album is aptly called Happy and filled with bright, happy songs. It puts me at ease, knowing he was in a happy, confident place making the album. Each one fo the photos corresponds to an element that appeared in the other member's short film. Did you noticed how in the beginning there's the number 7? Its cause Jin's the last film from the Wings Short Films series ( each member has a different one. V's was Stigma, Jimin's is Lie, etc etc ) The films are connected one with the other, the bird in the wall you see is connected to the previous film. So to understand one, you have to watch all 7 short films.

i’m woah at how perceptive u are. yes, it’s about Jin wondering to himself if he could fly like the other 6 members. he initially studied film / acting, got recruited as a trainee by the company who said he could do music but later on also do acting. eventually he ended up in BTS, and along the way his dreams changed to being a singer. but he didn’t have as much experience or background of music or dance like the other members so he had some self doubts… but he loved his new dream and his members so despite having to put in double work or having struggles as he was less skilled at the start, he fiercely wanted to run along with the members. he has grown in terms of his skills A LOT since then and is a powerhouse in his own right - even the members said so and praise him a lot. and i believe he has found his niche and his colour. he also brings strengths as an artist and vocalist that other 6 members don’t have, and on top of that, he plays a very key role in balancing out the dynamics of the group. and he is very well loved for his personality - a true shining star. going by how he speaks these days, i think he has moved past this stage some time ago and now he is very centred. Now that his first solo album is coming out, i believe he’s evolved even more as an artist. So happy for him.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to choose one, because they all bring something important and not just musically, but on a personal level. Jin has helped me to respect my own rhythm and stop comparing myself to others. He acknowledges that takes more time for him to learn some things and that's why he usually starts earlier. For example, for their choreographies, he starts learning it a month or so before the other members. That shows not just his hard working spirit, but also a great self awareness. Jin is singing about himself in a group with the six other members he watches closely. Just before this time, Jin was criticized for not having talents of dance, songwriting, or vocal contribution of the other members. There were some that criticized him, but Jin, Bang, RM and J-Hope helped write this song to convey his feelings. This song is on the album, WINGS. BTS conveyed their emotions of the criticisms in those songs. But you see how JIN sings so well live. I love that the boys chose to fight with music. It set them apart so so long ago. This song brings back a lot of memories for veteran ARMYs. It was like the light at the end of darkness.

This is when they became really popular. Winning awards being recognized everywhere. He worked extremely hard staying up late learning the steps to songs. The dance steps were so easy for the rest of the members, but extremely hard and exhausting for him. He has mentioned this many times how he and RM always practiced in a corner. He stayed up late getting up early and starting all over again and again. He was hired as a visual and taught how to sing and dance. So Jin’s struggles were really hard for him. Learning vocals and choreography from scratch. He was found by BigHit he was going to college to become an actor. So he put his thoughts into this song. Probably a little therapeutic and telling Army he was trying his best. There were times when being interviewed these people would ask questions that could possibly hurt them without realizing it. People sometimes asked who was the worst dancer. He got teased I’m sure it wasn’t good for his ego. I think he has worked extremely hard to keep up with the other members because some started dancing before they all got together. I can’t remember the whole of it, but honestly cried for him. His songs just resonate through my mind and heart. At the end each BTS member has struggled personally and overcome their struggles. BTS are navigating through the Universe touching hearts people troubles, hearts. Found them by accident years ago and haven’t left them. You need to watch Crystal Snow live it’s insane, but then each song is my favorite 😊

Jin was trained with 1000 trainees and he was chosen as 4th bts member in bts after training period 2.train period include doing singing and talent performances and bighit chose him out of all trainees just like other members 3.all members didn't have expirence with something like during training period jhope learnt rapping/jm jk v jin learnt singing and jk v jin had vocal coach pre debut/jk went to the USA to learn dancing

Of course they had a training period where they learned and perfected their skills. What the comments ,in my opinion, are saying is that, Jin had no particular training in music whatsoever , in comparison with RM (who rapped ), Suga ( who rapped), J-Hope ( who danced), JK ( who sang), V ( who was into the Sax ) , and Jimin ( who danced) . He WAS scouted for his looks on the street while in University, majoring in theatre/drama ( we all know that ) , but obviously, they were pooled into Big Hit training camp, where they were taught the IDOL way. After this, they were chosen one by one , to become part of BTS.

Ok, not to be the paragraph guy, but here's some explanation: The album WINGS is part of a story created by BTS and is told through their songs, and it goes from their album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life all the way to the Love Yourself era. The story itself is complex, deep and worth of a cinematic universe, so I won't get much into it, but that is why this video is filled with references and symbolism. Now, when it comes to the song itself, Awake, it's Jin's song and he worked in the production and in the writing of it in a reflection of his struggles to pursue a music career and keeping up with his fellow members (the six flowers). Out of all the members of BTS, Jin is the only one who didn't had a musical or dance background, because he studied and graduated to become an actor. He was brought into the agency because of his appearance with the promise he would be able to act in the future (kinda messed up tbh) but ever since, Jin has worked extra hard to catch up with the members, working hard on his vocal lessons and practicing the choreographys almost 12 hours a day to be able to debut and even now that the group is established, he still makes comments here and there about how he is worried that he is dragging the rest of his members back. This song specifically shows the conflict he faced through that moment in his life and how, even though he might not be at the same level of his other members (the six flowers) he will try. The beautiful melody that you like @7:49 is written by none other than J-Hope. RM has said that he is good at lyrics, but it is J-Hope that is the king of melodies. The validation @30:26 was so satisfying, lol. Jin entered BigHit with aspirations of becoming an actor and had no experience with singing or dancing. You can imagine the many moments of self-doubt as Jin often felt like he was playing catch up. Jin put in the extra work to continue to improve and is known as one of the most stable vocalists. At 24:31 this is what is termed OT7 (one true 7). Even us that have biases will say OT7 with X bias, lol. Then you have your bias wreckers, which often change in the blink of an eye. It's difficult to not love something about our guys, which is why they continue to grow ARMY and the haters too.

Very spot on analysis :) I hope you'll check out The Astronaut. The song was a gift from Chris Martin to Jin. Coldplay are really good friends with BTS, and Jin is a fan of them. The performance was Jin's last performance before enlisting. He travelled all the way from South Korea to Argentina just to sing one song for Army. I think that speaks a lot about the kind of artist and person he is. The performance is really fun, and the song is beautiful. I think you'll like it. If you are interested, I would love to see your reaction to the Suchwita (Suga's program) episodes with the members. I think, just like the Minimoni exchange, you could get really good insight of their personalities, their relationships with each other and with their artistry. The flowers are really them, if you look at the title of the song there is #7 if you want to know you will have to start with #1 which is Jungkook's song called Begin or enter the Bu universe once and for all, many ARMYs made playlists about the Bu universe on KZbin, unfortunately I don't have an exact English channel about the story, because I'm Brazilian so all the explanation videos are in Portuguese, but I think some armys who see this and know will point you to a channel about.... The thing is, he always felt that his talent was to be consistent and hard working in lack of the rest. Because he learned how to sing and how to dance when he joined BTS. This is a deep song about how he felt he couldn't run or fly together but follow behind the other six members. That's why Epiphany is so so important. You are correct, Sir. Jin never planned on being an Idol. He never had an interest in singing or dancing till he joined BTS. Can you imagine joining a group with such unbelievable talents and you're struggling? You're also the oldest and all these younger members are better than you. He really struggled with the dance, even to this day he struggles. It also took a long time to develop his voice. Jin speaks about his self doubt in this song and opens up to his vulnerability. Often, haters will put down Jin's abilities but he has always worked hard to be his best. He often says to not compare yourself to others. He really focuses on doing his best everyday. He now is a force of nature and a bright talent of his own. His vocal talent is phenomenal. He has the widest range in BTS and can belt like no other in the group. Everyone is needed and necessary in BTS.

My favorite Jin song (and one of my favorite songs, period) is "Abyss". There is only an official audio of the track and no subs, so you'd need to grab the translations from doolset, but the song is so beautiful. Jin explained later that he was feeling depressed and almost like an imposter after Dynamite. He told Bang PD that he he didn't feel like he deserved all the love and attention he was getting. Bang told him he should write about it, put it into a song and had him work with Bumzu (another artist under HYBE). The result was "Abyss" and it's just... *chef's kiss*

Watching BTS reactors is always fun, but there's something about your reactions that I really enjoy-it’s like getting to experience all those emotions again. Seeing you try to piece together the meaning behind their photos and knowing you're about to dive even deeper into BTS’s Fictional Universe-it’s something I can’t wait to watch unfold. I love seeing someone as thoughtful as you trying to unpack everything. I’m a 50-year-old Army, and honestly, I don’t really have anyone around who’s open-minded or curious enough to give BTS a chance. It’s a bit lonely because BTS has been a big comfort for me during tough times. Right now, for example, I’ve recently moved to the U.S., and it’s been challenging to settle in, both personally and professionally.
