Thumbs up/subscribed/notifications on. Really like these videos. I just recently got a 97 tj and I'm having all kinds of electrical issues. Previous owner pulled almost all the relays out. That whole relay box under the hood is loose. I have no-clue what was going on. I put a new relay in the horn spot and it's stuck on. Relay in the ignition spot and it won't start up. Relay in the auxiliary fan spot and the relay itself makes cracking noises going in there. I'm not even sure what an auxiliary fan is. Anyways I'm lost and don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated, I could do a short video going through all the problems if your interested. Also I've seen your clock spring video and I think I may need a new one, airbag lights on. Lastly, right turn signal indicator is stuck on when I turn on the headlights, dash lights don't work(dimmer?). I'm lost, I don't know where to start, at this point ripping the computer apart doesn't seem like a bad idea haha! I can still get the jeep driving with fuse in that ignition relay spot(what the previous owner had in there when he sold it to me.) {Edit} video has been uploaded to my channel.

Hey bud sorry for the late reply. Saw your video the other day. Please keep us posted as to the progress. We too had lots of weird electrical problems when we first got the TJ years back. 90% of our issues turned out to be related to the actually ignition switch. replaced it and the keys fixed a lot of issues. Now I'm not certain that is your issue with out a lot of diagnosis but you have a lot of things going on some it just feels like it should be something that is a bigger part of the system. With that said I will say the clock spring did not fix our horn problems seems the air bag module had the connect issue and well. Those are pretty pricy so we ended up installing a new horn button in the switch bank on the dash and moved on. One day I might replace the entire module but now just wasn't the time. I believe we have a video on that. Let me know if you have any questions would be glad to help.

I got a pcm for my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn and the 4 - O2 sensor codes went away and ran well until I ran the ac on a hot day. The new pcm didn't allow the ac compressor to shut off to cool down causing it to seize. I just got a replacement pcm from the same company and they said it's vin coded. Does it still have to be programmed? I was told it's simple plug n play from a few but the garage mechanic says it still has to be programmed to communicate properly with the ac clutch. Is this bs or valid?
@BubbasgarageTv4 жыл бұрын
From my understanding these are pre programed to the vin. All I had to do was swap it out. With that said if your vehicle had modifications outside of what came with it then I could see that being an issue. Otherwise it should be fine from my understanding.

I like the video as I have a TJ with a no start issue as well, no ground signal from PCM to ASD relay. I can rebuild a TJ engine in my sleep ( four in my fleet) but electrical is confusing. Anyway, latest buy has no ground signal from PCM to ASD relay. So we go down the rabbit hole, jump the ASD, replace cam sensor, replace crank sensor, look for exposed wires making ground, on and on...and still no spark to plugs or power to fuel pump, lets see if a new PCM starts my Jeep.

I got the same issue with my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee which has the same computer layouts and everything inside there. You showed us a capacitor in your hand that melted off in yours. but my three capacitors look like they have been getting hot on the board you can see where it's been getting hot. The morning I went to crank the truck none of my gauges will go up and back down like they're supposed to and my check engine light will not respond to my OBD reader. I have no fuel pump popping either I cannot hear it. Which means there's no connection to the computer obviously I'm guessing?

@@BubbasgarageTv Thanks, Flagship1 was very difficult to work with, their call in number is not able to help much. There was a cheaper option to send in my computer and have them fix it and send it back. They were supposed to send me a shipping label, but never did. Multiple phone calls didn't seem to help. Eventually, I asked for a refund, this took multiple phone calls and emails. Eventually they refunded my money two weeks later. Then they sent me the shipping label. After a few google searches about this company, there were a lot of disgruntled people indicating they never recieved their computer. A mechanic was able to find a computer, not sure where, but got me one, installed it and solved the issue. Thanks for getting back with me.

Having to get a new pcm on my 2013 JK because out of the blue cranking up before work and took a 6-8 mins before starting. Mechanic said obd reader brought up 10 codes that pretty weren’t possible for me to drive me Jeep anywhere and said electrical from pcm is the first fix to the investigation of the issue. Called 3 major Jeep/Chrysler dealerships by me and none in stock with. 3-4 week order in turnaround. So at this point, waiting for new pcm to come in. Long start only happens when Jeep is off/parked for over 3 hours but along with that, really odd shifting drop like thing happening (manual) until driving for a good 10 mins. It’s as if the Jeep is affected by the cold temperature and needs a minute to wake up. We shall see if a new pcm ($350-$450 priced from dealers) will fix.

I have a 2000 TJ Wrangler that I recently had a new engine installed. I was hoping this would correct a pre-existing problem I had with occasional occurrences of my airbag light coming on, followed by the check--in light and then the odometer and speedometer gauges quit working (all other gauges are fine). One quick knock on the dash will restore it, but even with the new engine this is still happening. I have seen videos of Jeep owners taking off the instrument cluster and cleaning it for this issue - is this advisable and have you experienced this problem?
@BubbasgarageTv5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sara. We can honestly say we have never seen this issue. With that said it truly does sound like a connection issue with the instrument cluster. Sounds like you are headed in the right direction. We have taken ours out when we did a full bed liner on the frame and then upgraded the leds in the dash. Honestly it wasn't too hard to take out out all. They probably had no reason to take the cluster out when they replaced the engine.

Did replacing the computer fix your problem?
@lawjye41694 жыл бұрын
BubbasGarageTv i am about to change it. The thing is my car starts, however, randomly it will get stuck in starting and the engine just shakes. After a few minutes it can turn back on and work fine for months or weeks. So not sure if it’s the ECM and concerned if changing it is a problem. Battery is new
