A dream of a Hindu female goddess appearing with more than one face telling me “ You must have faith and believe to live your truth and eat the harvest. I saw her walking with me in a subway station protecting me from harm I didn’t know was around each corner. I immediately woke up today to research who this was about and landed here. I have no idea how or why this happened but I am grateful.
Thank you! I received the Vajrayogini empowerment last year but... it was difficult, lots of mental obstacles. I will engage in my practice. Your video was inspiring.

How does one get initiated to Vajrayogini practice?
@kaldol2lucky Жыл бұрын
@@nedyogi942 Sometimes a guru/ Rinpoche/lama gives a teaching, and u can attend that teaching. During that teaching, Rinpoche will recite the mantra, which u repeat after Guru, and u make a promise to recite the mantra 7 times, or whatever number, or unlimited times a day. U must recite the mantra every day, and for whatever reason u skip, u can make it up the next day. So if u promised to recite the mantra 7 times a day, then you recite it fourteen times a day, and so forth.

Can I recite the mantra? I'm new to these culture I appreciate hearing more about these beautiful teachings
@BuddhaWeekly Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! This is a praise to Vajrayogini, rather than her heart mantra, so as long as you visualize her in front of you, so you are offering praise to her, it is fine, and will plant the karmic seeds for hopefully finding a teacher to offer you the transmission in future. The actual heart mantra of Vajrayogini - even though it is found on KZbin - is generally not recommended for recitation prior to receiving her empowerment and permission, since the mantra contains the 32 syllables of the 32 Yoginis of her merit field, which are related to the inner body (chakras and so on.) It's not that it's forbidden, it's just not recommended. The praise in this video is public, and performed publically, and can be offered as a praise and blessing. Hope that helps.

This channel is amazing. The most useful Mahayana/Vajrayana channel on youtube. Can I recommend something? Fudo Myoo seems to be virtually unknown in English. There are no thorough teachings of him on youtube, no instructions on how to properly chant any of his mantras, and nothing about any of his benefits besides some general stuff. So little, even though his image in Japan inspires awe. He's a fascinating Buddha. If you did some videos on him, it would be pretty groundbreaking in English. You would be basically single handedly introducing him to the west. Anyways, just a thought. Thanks for all the videos. Best, Khun Paen ;)

Sorry, missed replying on this. Yes, this video is pronounced Tibetan phonetics. (I couldn't find where we said it was Sanskrit? Yoko Dharma's chanting is Tibetan style, as transmitted by her teacher). You are correct, in Sanskrit it is not pronounced as Pey (or pay) but p-het --- like a hard p and aspirated h and a sharp exhalation of et . Sorry for any confusion. By the way, Fudo Myoo video is coming soon!

Fabulous video, thank you! What would be the parallel in Hindu pantheon? Maha Kali?
@BuddhaWeekly Жыл бұрын
Thank you. There are shared symbols, because they arise from the same languages and cultures, but they aren't directly related, other than they both arise from wonderful spiritual paths. The reason why it seems like there are paralells, including is names, s the sharing of symbolism and Sanskrit / Pali languages. Here, shared symbolism might be the color red, or the third eye, or the skullcup or the Katvanga and other symbols. These are common stream symbols, shared by many systems. Then, there are also shared names and shared mantra words, but this arises from the concepts of the words themselves in Sanskrit. For example the word Yogini (Yogini, which is part of Vajrayogini's name is योगिनी, IAST: yoginī a female master practitioner of tantra and yoga (male practitioner is yogin). And The Vajra (Sanskrit: वज्र, romanized: Vajra, lit. 'Thunderbolt') which is a common symbol in many traditions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, etc). Unrelated to Vajrayogini, as a example, is Buddhist Yamantaka and Yama. Yamantaka is the Buddhist foe destroyer who destroys death, while Yama represents death. When we speak of Vajrayogini in the context of this video, She is a fully Enlightened Buddha. She has the katvanga of many Yogis, and is female, representing Wisdom, and so on. There are emanations of many goddesses and Yoginis who look very similar, but it is the teaching and the full package that determines their symbolic identity (identity being a "fluid word" since ego is an issue in Buddhism:-) Hope that helps. In kindness, BW>

@@BuddhaWeekly Thank you SO much for your prompt and enlightening answer! The reason for my outer question was an inner one: i'm starting to learn about Shri Vidja path of Hinduism (i'm just a six-grader at the most) and have wondered, while watching your video, if I could write out the prayer and say it at my altar. Which is set up to the feminine principle of the universe and contains various dieties and goddesses from different traditions (my views are innately eclectic). I don't want to step on the wrong toes, if you get my point, so felt to ask if this beautiful prayer could be said to the Goddess, or is the prayer specifically designed for this Vajrayogini Herself. I hope I've managed to explain this sufficiently well. Many thanks!

can i chant the mantra of vajrayogini without iniciation ?
@BuddhaWeekly Жыл бұрын
Guidance on this varies by lineage (so, if you have a teacher, follow that guidance). The main requirement for any mantra is you must have Bodhichitta - the intention to benefit all sentient beings. That's according to His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche and other teachers. The other requirement for chanting mantras that you do not have empowerment for is to visualize the deity in front of you - you may not self generate (as that requires further initiations and instructions). (In other words, you are honoring, making offerings of mantras to the deity, but you are not trying to practice the sadhana or full meditation.) But, out of respect, some mantras should not be chanted - if they are Highest Yoga Tantras (there are some exceptions for practices considered beneficial to all beings, usually any emanation of the Padma or Lotus family of Amitabha and Avalokiteshvara). The reason is that most Highest Yoga Tantras require the teaching explaination and other requirements. So, it depends which Vajrayogini Mantra you mean. The longer three Om mantra (not in the video) is usually NOT recommended for recitation without permission. But, chanting the 8 lines of praise (which are in this video and include one of her shorter mantras) can be chanted according to several teachers, as this is a public practice. Of course, the goal is to plant the seeds of aspiration to have the karmic opportunity for empowerment in the future so that you can practice more deeply. Hope that helps. In kindness, BW.

Thank you for the knowledge! How does one go about finding a teacher for the Tara way I’m currently in Arizona
@BuddhaWeekly Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. Tara is one of the most popular practices, so you'll likely find most Tibetan Buddhist teachers time-to-time offer teachings. Online you'll find it often. We have a large number of Tara teachings and mantras in our collection, but teachers such as His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, His Holiness Sakya Trizin and others often teach live streamed (or pre-recorded, it doesn't matter). Gurus often are invited to local meditation groups as well (or if you are in one, you could suggest inviting a teacher.) The Garchen Institute, which is in Chino Valley, AZ (not sure how close this is to you!) has online teachings, many with His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, and many, many Tara teachings (Green and White both... they do have a weekly White Tara practice as well online.) You could start by finding a teacher you feel connected to online. Once you feel that conneciton, you can keep an eye out -- or rely on your karma :-) for teaching schedules that bring them close to where you are. Considering where you are, you might want to check Garchen Institute -- his eminence and the other teachers are amazing and knowledgeable and very kind and compassionate. garchen.net Hope that helps.
