Really enjoy the two episodes in the series so far. Wouldn’t even mind if they were looking at three tiers - under $50k, $50-$75k and $75-$100k, and then the episodes could even be 15 - 20 minutes. Just my two cents as a subscriber for about 6 months now. 🙂👍🏼

Thank you for the short-form detailed content for sailboat shopping and sail life tips. I’ve been researching and giving great consideration to what I want in a boat and looking at more boats was my New Years goal. However my first chance at a boat show has already gone to crap with the cancellation of the Atlanta Boat Show this past weekend 😔 and in-person shows are not looking good until the weather gets warmer. I have a Hunter 26. Fantastic beginner boat. Everything you need to coastal cruise. Great for a few friends or family members. Pretty darn comfortable overnight too.

Hunters seem to be a lot of bang for the buck and even the 28" have a nice rear cabin. Hopefully prices will return to normal this year.

They are just much higher than normal due to the pandemic effecting the supply chain on used vessels

What’s your opinion on the Hunter Vision 36 for Island hopping with 2 people

Hunter is beginning to remind me of the old McGregor. Especially 35’ and below. I’m not sure I’m a fan of the BR rigging. On the older Hunters, it would be so expensive to re-fit . That’s not to mention the inherit in ability for the best downwind sailing wing on wing. Not having a back stay would be nice, but I think the BR rigging is a dealbreaker because of the downwind issue. As far as it carrying the dock condo moniker, I could care less what other people think. After all, you do a whole lot more living on it than you do sailing.

For most people the benefits of a keel step would never be used, in reality a deck step is perfectly capable of the sailing 99% of people will be doing

Martin, I agree, especially when there are so few under the $50k threshold. I would suggest the same tiers, between $50-$75k and $75-$100k. I just watched this and the Benneteau episode and there’s really not much under $50k.

I prefer not to as it perpetuates the bad rap they get, most people at this point don't even know why hunter has a bad rap they just regurgitate the same social media silliness. If I throw out those vessels on a large public platform next thing ya know everyone will start citing those models and here we go, we perpetuate the same silliness. Are you on the members area ? I'd be happy to tell you there as its not so public

Depends more on your personal sailing needs , finances and goals. For me personally it wouldn't work however like I said in the video that doesn't at all mean it wouldn't be a fantastic vessel for you and your needs

You can get close and get a real nice one, the first hunter is only 33k, I'm sure you could negotiate and get it close in the future when the market settles down

You had me until you called it a blue water boat. With thin shrouds, no backstay, a bolted on keel and unprotected rudder this would be unqualified for blue water. Yes you “could” make it across safely, but when you’re sailing downwind in 45 knots with no backstay you will be in a bad spot. When you hit a container in the middle of the night in the pacific and loose your rudder, you’ll be done. Just call it what it is, a fantastic costal cruising vessel!
