I think it depends on the bird. I've had several budgies over the course of my life and for the most part, they were very nice and got on well with us but there was one lutino budgie who was hostile from day one and wouldn't settle down no matter what we did. Eventually it escaped from the cage and fly away, never to be seen again. With hindsight, I believe the lutino was female and turning aggressive cos' of her nesting instincts and wanting to find a mate and that's why she wouldn't settle down, but I was only a small child back then so didn't understand what was going on. I think all our other budgies were male and they settled down quite easily- most of them were finger tame as well.

@@laney9917 a budgie cage needs to be wider than it does taller or it wont be able to fly properly in its cage cause budgies fly horizontally not vertically so they'll only be able to hop up and down and not actually fly around their cage exercising their wings as they should. Iv had 4 budgies and is owning just one baby currently and she loves flying around her cage

Scarlett Casey yea i hope no one trusted past me that cage sucks. i didn’t end up ordering it cause i found out the bars were too far apart and budgie heads were getting stuck in it :(. i have a decent cage now that’s at least double the size. they have space to fly horizontally but not as much as they do vertically. the top parts mostly covered in hanging toys and perches anyways. i hope my cage is ok now. i have 2 they are really sweet btw. that’s good to know though i wanna get them an even bigger one someday.

I love this channel and it helps alot. But one thing I find important is to not leave millet in the cage. Millet is very healthy for birds but too much can clog the passing for birds. You should give small amounts only a couple times a week. You can feed your budgies normal seed but just plain millet sitting in the cage like that is dangerous. I learnt it the hard way when we left our millet in the cage like that. It was my first bird and he ate too much and later passed away. It was slow and very sad. But now I've learnt to not do that and when it's appropriate to feed birds what and when.

It all fine and dandy once they are trained. I bought one that was a month old. I have tried every trick in the book, she is now about 4-5 mths old. She is so unsociable she refuses to come out of her cage, if I catch her she gets angry. She doesn't sing, she just sits there all day one spot, never moves, I have given her toys, exchanged toys, talk to her, etc etc. I can get her to sit on one finger sometimes by say step up, but as soon as I get an inch away from the perch she step back. She doesn't chew on he cuddle stone,mor eat the mullet, no fruit dried or fresh, and no veg???

My budgie is afraid of water and won’t take baths. He’s even afraid of the sound of it. I’m really worried as well because he won’t eat fruits and vegetables. CookieKatt For the fruit and Veggies one, try a variety of different ones. One of my friends had budgies, and they’ll only eat green veggies, no other fruit and vegetables. I don’t know if this will help or if you’ve already done this, but yeah.

i like to put tiny bits of seed on my fruits and veggies to encourage them to try it, or just hang it on the bars of their cage for them to experiment with. one of my budgies isnt a fan of trying new things but if my albino starts to peck at it she'll try it as well

Overall your budgie-videos proof that you love your little friend but you still have a lot of things to improve. First: get that small mirror out of the cage. Budgies arent able to "identify" themselves in a mirror. This can cause a situation that your little friend tries to feed the "bird in the mirror" and that can end badly. Furthermore bugies are living in a flock. So get another budgie for him as another friend. And try to avoid plastic stuff in the cage. Wooden materials are much better :)

What I recommend is to but a variety of perches because smooth perches can cause some disease thingy things on the foot and place more than one feeder (I like to use stainless steel feeder bowls)

The budgie won't be happy if: he is alone (one budgie), he has a very small cage, no sand, a mirror, plastic sticks... every honest breeder can tell you that. That music won't hide the fact about that, too.

Sera Tompson i completely clean out my bird cage once a week! I use corn cob bedding, but if you use paper I would get new paper once every 1 to 2 days just to keep it clean.

I got two budgies a week ago kiwi and Carlos (kiwi girl and Carlos boy) kiwi came sick and died today she was sick and wasn’t moving from the bottom of her cage and wouldn’t eat when me and my sister saw this we took her out and tried to calm her we got a spoon and water and she drank it then a few mins later she died now Carlos is unhappy should I get another budgie immediately or leave him

My budgie, Einstein doesn't see me to get the sides and top of his cage all crappy to where it has to be wiped out hardly ever every once in awhile I find a poop on it and I busted off and wipe the spot but my bird I've had him for 4 weeks and he is very good about pooping only on his paper on the floor he doesn't poop on his on his toys he doesn't poop on his playground, and to me that's amazing he comes out here and he does a few laps and flies back into his cage, he's a very Homestyle boy he likes that 2 by 2 by 3 and I love my little bird my little predator!

Is it bad that we got my Budgie (Pickles, he's a boy) a big cage? He has lots of room to play, and everything but there is no way I can WASH the cage in a sink or something it's huge! It is for Budgies though. Should I use a special cage cleaner to clean his cage? If so, I have some cage cleaner for Pickles if that works! 💞

Wyatt you can get a bird safe cleaner at the pet store and online. I just use a white vinegar and hot water mix 🙂

Budgies are a small bird who instinctively are afraid of predators in the wild. Many people I have spoken with about their budgies are not able to tame them despite their best efforts. I have tried. I am able to coax one of mine onto my finger inside the cage, and both of them will eat millet seed from a spray of millet I hold inside the cage, but that is as far as I have gotten with them. They are fairly happy as they have each other, and they sing pleasantly most of the time. I still really like them, but I wish they would come out of the cage. They are both female, I don't know if that has anything to do with friendliness or not.

It is cruel to have just one bird. To keep them happy always get budgies/parakeets or birds in general in pairs. Also get them toys like mirror or made out of cork and or dry grass (avoid rope or fabric as it can give them tumors). But please get another bird how would you feel if you are kept in a cage without contact to any human?
