@BudgieWorld5 жыл бұрын
@@Maximus-g1c Well, I mention that in every video I talk about breeding , and I noticed I didn't mention it in this video, so I commented it. less than 1 year means they are too young, and there is a real danger on their off spring, for not feeding abandonment an so on.. so you really are taking a high risk if you are letting them breed before they are 1 year old of age.

Random but I find if you get one of the natural long cuttlefish bone the best place to place it is through the bars above one of the birds longer perches. The perch helps hold big pieces without bending bars and I do this all the time, I find all my birds like to perch on this time to time or even longer periods ! My hen currently has a groove curved in it where her nails clipped away at it. The reason is it helps trim their nails. It does a great job. That, natural perches and calcium perches has meant I never need to clip their nails :) (although remember to check just in case !)

Budgies live communily. I would start with three or four pairs. As they start to nest it will provoke the others to try. ALWAYS have more nest boxes than pairs otherwise they'll fight. Also, make sure there is plenty of space. For parakeets to raise chicks they'll need plenty of room. An aviary would be the preferable choice or a very large cage at least 36 to 48 inches long and 24 inches wide. Birds fly from side to side. Rarely up and down. The most valuable lesson to learn is leave them alone! Nest boxes should not be disturbed until chicks are flying out. If you have several pairs one female won't matter.

But I have other questions as well like the exact color mutation they both are. And if I breed, the outcome of the offspring.

I tried to shift her first egg in the nest but then she took it out from the nest and started stuggling with it to shift it back i guess. And she end up braking all for eggs i don't know what was the reason no she stopped laying eggs since 4 days. I tried to do everything to protect those eggs but failed. Could you suggest something for future breeding?? Regards
@r.sanders84484 жыл бұрын
You have to let *HER* decide where *she* feels is the safest place to lay/brood/have her eggs and chicks! If she doesn't like it or feel like a new nest box (or any other place that *she* didn't choose for herself!!) is the safest place for her/them....... then she absolutely *will NOT* allow her eggs/chicks to remain wherever *you* decide to move them around to. She will either just try to move them back to where she originally had them to begin with (most likely breaking/injuring them in the process-which means they won't incubate/hatch/live) OR she will just decide that they are no longer SAFE where she decided to have them after *you* interferred and touched & moved them...... so she will then just either abandon and/or destroy and kill them- in order *not* to have to deal with the extra added stress of worrying about whether they are safe enough or not where they are from you ever trying to touch/move them again until her babies are big enough to leave the "nest" she chose for them on their own. If she *does* ever lay another clutch of eggs..... and especially if she doesn't like it or choose to lay/have them stay in a nest box and decides she feels they're safest in her food dish (where *SHE* feels the safest when she's eating from there)----- then just simply provide her with a larger/wider dish or box of some sort with a handful of woodchips in it as bedding as an optional 'nest' that's big enough for both her & her eggs/babies at the *bottom* of her cage or nearest her food dish (or *whatever* other place she chose to lay them) as you can place it. One of those flatter rectangle shaped Tupperware food storage containers or a mid-size casserole dish or even a smaller kids size shallow shoe box should be proficient- even if you have to put her entire normal food dish inside of it until she *does* become more use to it and decides that it *would be* safe enough for her & her eggs/babies to stay nested in. Doesn't really matter whatever you provide her to use as her 'nest' or where it's located inside her cage...... as long as it's sturdy and safe enough that *SHE* likes it and feels that it's SAFE ENOUGH to lay/brood/raise her babies in without any interference or sensing danger of any kind.... so she will *choose* to continue to use it to brood/nest in instead of just abandoning, damaging by trying to move them back or flatout destroying & killing her eggs/chicks due to overstress from worrying too much about them before they mature enough to leave it on their own.

So I'm trying to breed my two buggies and everything is going normal but this is her first time and I canceled the first three eggs and they're not fertilized. Should I just leave them in the nest or should I pull a few of them out so she can lay a few more? They have been doing the dirty and at first she wasn't sitting on the eggs with the first three but by her fourth she seems to have gotten it down now and she's almost always sitting on her eggs now. They get a very good diet of pellet seeds and chop every day and I've been giving them hard boiled eggs they always have fresh water and fresh food. Also are pine shavings safe to use in the nest box? Right now she has some shredded paper and a paper towel in there. For many years I've been considering breeding birds and so this is my first time. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much :)

I have 6 of these little birds 3 are males and 3 females I heard that neither will lay eggs if their are other birds in the same cage is that true?
@r.sanders84484 жыл бұрын
No..it's NOT always true. A juvenile or fully mature aged female bird (juvenile~anywhere from 5-10+ months old...not fully ready yet to produce healthy viable chicks to fully matured 1-3 years old...at prime breeding/mating age) will start laying eggs whenever *SHE* is ready and wants to...... regardless if there is even a male bird in the cage with her or not to mate with (resulting in only INFERTILE eggs-which you will either have to remove from her every day or two in order to get her to STOP laying any more eggs OR you can get some small plastic fake parakeet eggs to replace the real ones as she lays them or after she's sitting/brooding on any of them in order to get her to stop laying any more eggs). An average normal amount for a typical full clutch of eggs is anywhere from 3-8 eggs..... where she will lay one egg every other day after the very first egg.... before she will finally start sitting on them all to brood/incubate them. Sometimes there's less-sometimes more in a full clutch of eggs..... just depends on the age & health of the female bird and how many she can lay within a 7-10 day time period before she HAS to start sitting on them all in order to brood them enough to get them to hatch. Otherwise the first few eggs she lay will die/become inviable and will never incubate to hatch.... because any possible chick inside is already dead past the 7-10th day after it was laid if she hasn't started brooding it yet. However, if she is in with any other *female* birds in the same cage/space and starts laying eggs......... then you always have to be *VERY* careful to keep a close watch on them all to make sure that none of them are ever showing *any* signs of jealousy or aggression towards another female bird of egg laying age. Another female bird *can* .... and often *does* .... get *VERY* jealous of another female in the same space if that hen starts having eggs/chicks and *she* doesn't or can't have any of her own yet. So that aggressive or dominate female will deliberately raid the nest of the laying/sitting hen to intentionally DESTROY or KILL her eggs/chicks!! The same thing can happen if the aggressive or dominate female even decides that *SHE* likes and wants a particular nest box that another hen has already chosen to lay her eggs and nest in....... which is exactly WHY it is very important to always provide at least 2-4 *EXTRA* nest boxes than you have breeding sets of birds at any given time if you keep your birds in a colony or don't always separate a breeding pair of birds in to a completely different cage away from all the others. (At least TWO nest boxes in place for every set of breeding pair of birds). In order to prevent any nest box raiding/destroying/killing of chicks from another jealous female bird.

It's best to breed them if your budgies are 1 year old or more than that. If they are bellow 1 year old, it effects on health or other breeding problems, etc... Good luck 👍☺
