Budi The Orangutan Has Been RELEASED! (Huge Budi Update)

🎉🌳 BUDI HAS BEEN RELEASED! 🌳🎉
Budi, the orphan orangutan whose heart-wrenching story went viral back in 2014, has finally returned to the rainforest after a heroic eight-year journey of rehabilitation! He was released by the West Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Office (BKSDA), together with the Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park Authority (TNBBBR) and supported by our partners, YIARI.
In December 2014, Budi was found in a tragic state - imprisoned in a chicken cage, severely malnourished, and barely clinging to life. His rescue journey began when teams from the BKSDA in Ketapang, West Borneo, the Gunung Palung National Park, and YIARI, set out on an arduous ten-hour journey to bring Budi to safety and the promise of a better life.
Through countless hours of care, compassion, and sheer determination from YIARI, Budi transformed from a pitiful, helpless baby into a vibrant, independent, and forest-ready young orangutan. He mastered vital skills such as climbing, foraging for food, and building nests. His milestones touched hearts worldwide, from his first day in baby school to his successful graduation into forest school.
Budi's triumphant return to the wild is a testament to the unwavering dedication and collaboration between government authorities, NGOs, local communities, and corporations committed to conserving Bornean orangutan populations.
Today, as we celebrate Budi and five female orangutans being reintroduced into the Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park, we remember every single individual who contributed to this momentous journey. Budi's story is a beacon of hope and promise for a brighter future. He is proof that, with unwavering efforts, it is possible to rebuild viable populations of orangutans in areas where they can thrive.

Our partners YIARI have a post-release monitoring team, whereby they will track his movements, nest building etc. for the best of their ability every day for roughly two years. Some days they may see him, some days they may not, but this is the aim! It allows YIARI to monitor the release and ensure his safety.

Nie wiemy na 100% co się z nim dzieje. Po uratowaniu go i przebytej rehabilitacji specjaliści uznali, że jest wystarczająco silny, zdrowy i samodzielny aby wrócić do domu. Sprawdziłam ten park narodowy, w którym go wypuszczono (razem z pięcioma samicami) i nie ma chyba lepszego miejsca dla młodego orangutana. Budi nie ma gpsa, może ma czip podskórny podobnie jak psy, więc gdyby coś się z nim stało i ktoś go znalazł, na stronie fundacji widniałaby informacja. W każdym razie Budi jest wolny i szczęśliwy, jakkolwiek długo będzie żył, będzie to życie w pełni tego słowa znaczeniu. Po przetrwaniu piekła i uniknięcia pełnej cierpień śmierci i faktu, w jakim tragicznym stanie go uratowano, na pewno jest przygotowany. Opiekuni i lekarze czuwali nad nim pieczę, gdyby tylko istniał cień szansy lub problemy z jego zdrowiem, przewieźliby go do sanktuarium, gdzie byłby pod stałym nadzorem. Orangutany żyją około 30 lat, więc resztę swoich dni spełni w taki sposób, jakiego natura go stworzyła, w miarę upływu czasu procent jego przeżytych tragedii będzie coraz mniejszy, a zastąpi go bogate życie w zgodzie z naturą i porządkiem świata. To wg mnie naprawdę cud, że zdołano go "zdziczeć" mimo wielu lat intensywnej opieki i kontaktu z ludźmi, ewenement w historii i literaturze. Budi sobie poradzi, tak wiele osób ma go w sercu. Jeśli coś kochasz, puść to wolno. Budi nigdzie nie byłby szczęśliwszy❤

I had tears of joy when I first heard that Budi was released. He has turned into such a handsome Orangutan. It is unbelievable what this guy went through. I have always said he must have the heart of a lion to have come through the extreme difficulty of his captivity and the pain and suffering of the earliest attempts to keep him alive and get his legs and arms working again. He is truly the most remarkable of so many amazing Orangutans who overcame the odds and made it back to the wild.

Budi stole alot of hearts. Globally. He still has the same sweet baby face.I thought he should of been released on a island that was semi Wild and free. He is mostly living free and in the trees and people were Still near him to make sure his needs are being met. He had almost given up when he was rescued. Budi was In pain and his joints and body. Everyone, everyday is praying for this little guy. I hope he finds his peace and happiness
