It's pretty clear, despite what Wade Phillips and the announcers want to believe, that Andre Reed's elbow was down with the ball short of the goal line.

How do the commentators blame Flutie for that last play?!? The biggest strength Flutie had was extending plays and creating something from nothing. It happens sometimes where the opponent wins one or two of those engagements and the Dolphins happened to get the sack on that one. Its not like Flutie had another quarter of football left to play...when that play finishes it would have been under ten seconds and they might have had one or at most two more plays to run. He needed to take every opportunity that he could to make a play.
@andrearel3703 Жыл бұрын
He was supposed to read the pass rush/blocking scheme. A running back chipping an end, especially Trace Armstrong, will only slow down the rush. The ball needed to come out after a 3-5 step drop.

Opening bomb to Moulds would now have been a penalty - horse collar. Such a shame it took a while for that to be a penalty. We all have Roy Williams to thank for that obvious, dangerous play.

This necessitated the one-time move of the Orange Bowl back to the Orange Bowl, as they had already been playing at JRS for a couple years. Oddly, ABC had both games.

Hi Joseph - Reed takes an unsportsmanlike penalty for pushin the ref on the 1 yrd line. It happens at 2:15:30 in. It was first down. Gash or Antowain or Flutie could've run it in from there no problem. Reed was upset he didn't get the individual accolades for the TD. That to me is incredibly selfish. Respectfully, P.

That 1998 Dolphins team I thought was pretty underrated. Marino's last quality season. Karim Abdul-Jabaar, a guy who was a sneaky good fantasy football player if you likes yards/touchdowns as a #2 option A stacked defense that was #1 in fewest points allowed. Jason Taylor/Trace Armstrong/Surtain/Sam Madison/Zach Thomas.... they were a bunch of bad dudes you didn't want to mess with. And that's coming from a Bills fan.
@crazyantny9161 Жыл бұрын
Dolphin fan since 71. Thus team was average with a less the avg offense and a coach hated by players league wide. Also, Marino was a pick 6 machine. All the comebacks... Well he put them in the hole. I do not like Dan Marino.he is classless . The sob snubbed my son who had Leaukemia. The POS was supposed to come 2 hours prior to the Denver Monday night game that season, as want He flew us down to see the game and orainged the pregame meeting. Marino refused using an excuse that he had already done his charity work for the week. That was from the Dolphins PR.

Weird Seeing future SB winners Gash and Smith next to each other @ 22:46. Gash would win with the Ravens in two seasons. While Smith wins in 3 years with the Patriots. Loved both those guys when they were a Patriot.

1:01:38 - Inexcusably ill-advised throw by Flutie. He knew better. The Bills were already ahead by one point, so there was no need to force the ball into double coverage. If no one is open, throw it away, that way you at least come away with three points. Instead they came away with no points.
@robrochon10342 жыл бұрын
Jesus, Flutie throws for 360 yards in this game and you find maybe one of two or three mistakes he might have made the entire game to bitch about. There's no good time for an interception as any turnover will cost you points regardless of where the ball is located on the field.
@crazyantny9161 Жыл бұрын
If not for flutie the bills are not in the playoffs at all lol
@SingleTax Жыл бұрын
You misunderstand. If Flutie were a bad QB, I would expect nothing less than a dumb mistake like that, and therefore wouldn't even bother rolling my eyes. It's precisely because he was a very good QB that I criticize this play. He knew better.
