Hi Kay. Thank you! Right now we're trying to finish our "How-To" series (we're coming out with Chest, Legs and Abs) where we cover 5 exercises per video. We want to begin what you mentioned where we go in detail covering rep range, time in gym and more. A little more along the lines of our "Arms Day" video we recently released. Thank you for the feedback, it helps us get an idea of what people want to see. Glad you enjoy the vids!
@buffdudes12 жыл бұрын
No, but we absolutely love working out and have been editing for years. We wanted to create some kind of program which could be entertaining and instructional and we finally got around to start doing it. We're BEYOND happy that the response has been positive and we're gonna try and keep topping ourselves with every one.

Hi Cyprus! Good question. On our "How-To" vids we're trying to stick with 5 great exercises per bodypart and why we feel they're a great addition to your workout. We're going to begin having an "In The Gym" series (like our recent 'Arms Day' video) and we'll cover rep range, length of time in the gym and more.

DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) is natural. If you feel your not getting the full benefit of your shoulder workout due to soreness, then I would suggest you change the days in which you hit shoulders I.E. - Monday - Legs, Tuesday - Shoulders, take 2 days off, then Friday - chest & triceps, Sat - back & biceps, Sunday - off. Just a quick write up but you get the idea. Hope this helps Sean!

Buff Dude What do you think about this kind of workout routine: A: Chest/Triceps/Shoulders B: Back/Biceps/Trapz/Forearm C: Legs Doing A: monday/thursday B: tuesday/friday C:wendsday/saturday Do u prefer the old kind of 1 muscle per day ?
@stecookie9112 жыл бұрын
KayRuh, what i get from watching their videos is (and they can correct me if i'm wrong) that they tend to do 4 sets of each exercise, doing 8-12 reps depending on the weight with 60-90 second rest periods in between. Although if you are weak in one area it might be worth taking a little more time to train that specific area.
@brandonmyleswhite12 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Behindspace90. To answer your critiques - The posterior deltoids ARE worked during an over head press due to the full extension (even slightly hyper extension) in the top position of the overhead press, not merely used to stabilize. We never claimed that the medial deltoids are never a secondary muscle group when strictly working shoulders, simply that the medial delts aren't a secondary muscle used when working muscle groups other than deltoids. Hope this helped!

Yes, it definitely can. I would recommend cycling your overhead presses, one week barbell, the next week use dumbbells. One good thing about dumbbells is that you get a fuller range of motion (being able to bring the DB's together at the top position) and also hitting more of those small "stabilizer" muscles.
@adamk35209 жыл бұрын
I like upright rows with dumbells... prevents elbows from going above the shoulder subsequently preventing repeated RTC impingement with each rep...

When you do the lateral side raise with dumbbells it will feel more in your traps. Try holding a plate with only your fingers and do it as they instructed. Use a light plate.

nice simple to understand been bodybuilding for years 20 now the only thing that I would add is to discuss the proper weight to use it is individual for everybody depending on their time spent in the gym but for people like my son who told me about your vids that aspect would be important to speak about my bad if you have already done that.Cheers

depends on how you are working your chest, there are multiple variations of chest workouts... machines for me used to cause pain, i would do chest flys and i would hurt my upper arms and chest, but i started to workout my shoulders and neck to prevent swinging out of position during the workout... Some workouts for the chest i would suggest are; Pushups(overall) BenchPress (For mass and strength) Chest Flys (for definition) diamond Pushups (middle diamond like core in your chest)

The program that worked best for us is Monday - super setting chest/back, Tuesday - super setting biceps/triceps, Wednesday - legs/calves, Thursday - shoulders/forearms, and Friday - chest/back again. Saturday is optional for the golden five compound exercises or just legs/calves.

I would recommend you evaluate your fitness/bodybuilding goals in order to build a proper workout program. If you would like to build size I suggest you decrease the amount of muscle groups you work in one day. That way you can focus more energy per body group. Ive had a lot of success with pairing up opposing muscle groups. Also incorporating the high volume training method 4 to 5 sets staying in the hypertrophy rep range 8 - 12.

That can be the case for some people. In my opinion behind the neck exercises can be done in a safe manner and be very beneficial. If you have a shoulder impingement, I would stay away from any over head press or behind the neck press.

No not necessarily. The reason I go wider on the overhead press is that for my particular musculature and skeletal structure, going wider is more comfortable for me and puts more emphasis on the shoulder muscles and less on the joint. Try different hand grips and see how it feels. Thanks for the comment seanmannion7!

Barbell is pretty harsh I find using the cable machine with rope attachment works great
@allpower9610 жыл бұрын
To strengthen the wrists, do farmer carries or forearm work or ten second hold deadlifts just barely lifting the barbell with weight like and inch of the ground. Purpose of that is to perfect form when deadlifting, strengthen the hamstrings and grip strength. Don't use Dumbbells cause it's harder to control. The barbel helps it be more isolated.
@basalicandrei386610 жыл бұрын
do it with the EZ bar...wide grip...its way better for your wrists. Trust me...i had the same problem. and dont let the bar all the way down...so you ont stress the rist so much

He said that you have to aim them directly (meaning that when you work back and pecs or whatever except shoulders directly, the medial head isn't really being worked out... also, upright rows with a large grip are exactly to work the medial head and the trapezius... so he wasn't in any way controversial.
@brandonmyleswhite12 жыл бұрын
We will be coming out with chest day next week! I have never personally done a Yates row, but what I know about it is that it is more upright than a standard row and puts more emphasis on the traps. Whenever you do an exercise you always have to ask yourself, "why am I doing this exercise and what does it do for me?". If the particular exercise will help you in achieving your goals, do it!

Never go behind the neck with the overhead press. It will destroy your rotator cuffs.
@jjenson200611 жыл бұрын
***** I have been lifting heavy weights for over 30 years. I don't know who you are but an easy guess judging from your post is that you're a teenage punk who lives with his Mom. I have a lot of experience lifting and getting injuries. My guess is the only experience you have is popping pimples on your neck and TRYING desperately to act tough on the internet.
@shoefreak345411 жыл бұрын
Alright my bad, didn't know you had so much experience. I thought you were some kid who just wanted any excuse to bitch. Much respect for lifting for 30 years.
@elcardenalgasponte188110 жыл бұрын
jjenson2006 Tell that to Dmitry Klokov...
@jjenson200610 жыл бұрын
El Cardenal Gasponte Just because other people do them does not mean they are good for you. Some people are double jointed and can do them without a problem. Others know how far they are able to go down without harm (usually ear level). Most people will go down as far as they can, which is what does the damage. Take a stick that is light such as a broomstick and make pretend you are doing the behind the neck press exactly how you would grab the bar and see how far you can go down comfortably.You will find that anything lower than ear level is uncomfortable because that is the point where your joints start to dislocate; not a natural movement. If you do this with heavy weight, it will seem much easier to go lower because the weight is FORCING the bar down. This is why this movement is so dangerous on your joints. Dmitry is only 31. I am 49. I am almost 20 years older than him. Maybe he is doing his presses with perfect form, or maybe he is double jointed; or maybe he'll be experiencing damaged rotator cuffs in the near future. You can't put a price on experience. Be smart and learn from those who've already been there. I wish I could go back in time and somehow convince myself that I shouldn't do them so that today I wouldn't be living in pain that never seems to go away.
@Dagbar66610 жыл бұрын
jjenson2006 Thanks for sharing this. Indeed, people today are all black and white; ''If it doesn't snap, it's okay.'' . They seldom consider long term damage because... hey, they saw them do it on TV, can't be wrong! Anyway. It's great to have actual feedback that helps sort out the real, useful info on this internet jungle.

There is no "medial" head of the deltoid. There is an anterior, a LATERAL and a posterior head. The term "medial" refers to something that is closer to the midline of the body.
