Pec minor is deep to pec major and is a scapular depressor. Pec major is divided superiorly and inferiorly into sternal and clavicular fibers. If you try to exercise your pec minor, you'll likely end up with some shoulder issues.
@brandonmyleswhite12 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bill, your correct. I should have noted that upper chest (clavicular portion) is part of the pectoralis major. Doing incline bench or flys will stress the pectoralis minor due to its insertion into the medial border and upper surface of the coracoid process of the scapula but should not take credit for upper chest development. Thanks for the correction!

BUFF DUDES! You guys def keep your audience/viewers entertained, by the film editing and animation. At the same time its informative! THANK YOU

The pec major isn't just the lower part of the chest. It is the upper part too (clavicular head). The pec minor is actually just a small muscle on the SIDES of the chest. The "upper chest" that most people talk about is the clavicular head of the pec MAJOR.
@lbocvarov8912 жыл бұрын
I agree about the inner pecs. It's a misconception that you can actually work the "inner part" of the chest. You cannot focus on just a segment of a muscle fiber. But you CAN work separate bundles of muscle fibers of a major muscle. In this case, by changing the angle when you push with your chest, you can engage the lower fibers.

when you do a dumbell bench press you need to stabilize a lot more then when you do a barbell benchpress. so its makes perfect sense. i use the barbell press to get more power and the dumbell press to isolate the small stabilizing muscle to get more defenition. that formula is equal to a nice chest
@brandonmyleswhite12 жыл бұрын
We limited our exercises to 5 per video, that way we can keep it short and entertaining. These definitely aren't the only exercises we do for chest. If your goal is to increase the size in your upper chest (pec minor) then I would recommend starting every chest workout with either barbell or dumbbell incline press.

that's what I said. you can work different areas of your chest more than others, but there's no muscle called "inner chest" so it can't be isolated, meaning only that part of the muscle is worked. You might hit the inner chest more than on another exercise, but you will still be hitting the whole chest there's no avoiding that. Just like you can't isolate one head of the bicep, both heads are always worked when working the biceps.

We mostly use the pyramid method. 4 sets pyramiding from 15, 12, 10, 8 repetitions. As we lower the reps we will increase the weight of the exercise. Judging the weight properly is key, because you want to reach close to failure on the last rep of each set. We also try to incorporate 1RM workouts every week.

Pec minor is underneath pec major, not above it. The upper part of the pec major that you're referring to is its clavicular head--it's all one muscle.
@OrdinaryDude6712 жыл бұрын
Your description of the chest anatomy is incorrect. The Pec Major is your entire visible chest muscle, from top to bottom. The Pec Minor runs from the ribs to the shoulder blades and is used in the movement of the shoulders and ribs.

pectoralis minor is NOT the upper fibers of the chest, its actually an internal muscle that attaches to the rib cage and is the reason why people people have chest injuries. The muscle is small and is easier to tear
