Update for those of you who are interested in these: There's a +p version out. The past version (as of 2024) of the +p used only about 0.1gr more than what you see here. Slug was the same as well. Clearly a turned/CNC made projectile. Small amount of a greyish sealant between the bullet and case. The current version uses a pink/red sealant, uses 0.1gr LESS than the previous revision (not a huge deal, as the sealant has a MUCH stronger hold on the bullet), and the bullet appears as if it was stamped/pressed. The bullet also appears to have slightly wider flute diameter at the base. It may perform better terminally at slightly lower velocity.
@mghegotagun4 ай бұрын
I gave them a call about any recent changes to their projectile. I didn't get much out of them. What's your source? What do you consider "better terminally"? Less base-forward instances?

This is the first iteration of these monolithic projectiles I have ever seen that actually produces what appears to be a decent permanent wound cavity. There's still a little bit of over penetration, but not nearly as much as most of the other round types that this is a member of. Permanent wound cavity is the only measurement by which pistol rounds are able to stop an aggressor in any real sense. The other problem I have is this is the worst gel and it's still showing good permanent wound cavity. In Bear gel that cavity would probably be about three times what you're showing. In actual gunfights the penetration is not going to be as high so it should work well. I still think 40 Smith is a far superior cartridge to 9 mm. At least until you get 9 mm up into some really sparkling velocities, such as this one which is mimicking 357 Magnum velocities or almost

Fluted projectiles are nasty. I have taken a few Hogs with the extreme Defender +P+ and it is actually a bit to destructive for my liking. Did a lot of damage to the meat and the lungs were ripped up badly as well. The projectile is usually stopped either by the ribs on the opposite side of the pig or under the skin just past them have only had one pass through completely and that was on a 65 ish lb hog. It seems like in most cases the rounds are extremely consistent in the way they dump energy. Definitely more damage than most conventional hollow points/soft points in my experience.

In a say a underwood 124gr+p+ or minuteman 124gr+p+ both are similar around 550fpe plus from a 4" pistol, then those rounds in a 16" barrel are easily going to match a hot 357 magnum from a 4" to 6" barrel, That 16" with those 124gr +p+ mentioned above would be an amazing home defence PCC/PCR And with a equal power round but non bonded and maybe lead exposed tip like a remington umc but +p+ for people who really don't want any over penetration as that would mostly explode would be a nice option, Especially as with that barrel length and even an aggressive break and comp combination the recoil should be fine and probably fine just with a flash hider.

The only worthy caliber is their 9mm EHP. The civilian 40, 45 acp, and 10mm EHP are all watered down and under performers per the testing I saw via viper weapons systems. Very very disappointing to say the least. The 9mm should not be beating all those other calibers, especially in PWC! Now, their other caliber technology may be better for military/LE (just a guess), but their civilian rounds gotta catch up to what those calibers are meant for as they are giving us milked down versions of something that can be a whole lot better. The fact they are even selling 40, 45 acp and 10mm knowing full well the 9mm is better is a slap in the face and an insult to my intelligence!!

I do have a question for you however. Your range rules indicate that any firearm not being currently pointed down range should be on safe. Do you not allow Glocks and guns that are copies of Glocks to be on your range. I only asked this because I've been teaching shooting since about 1970. And I fired blocks, I do not like their triggers, and I do not like the idea that if somebody wrestles your gun away from you they don't at least have to take the safety off to kill you with it. There are no safeties on a Glock. None whatsoever. That little plastic lever on the trigger is utterly useless
